Zomby sampled my youtube video for his song 'Test Me for a Reason' without permission. This guy is an unoriginal thief. He did not even contact me for permission.
Its just a homage, (rip off??), of old school rave and hardcore.
No drama.
If you really like this sound you should check out the old tapes and mixes from Dreamscape, Fantazia, Tribal Gathering, Helter Skelter etc etc. True old school soundz.
i was only 7 at the time but '92 really was the best time for electronic music. really wish i was there, but at least i can still enjoy the music now.
dubstep is extremely versatile so there are bound to be some artists you like a lot and some that don't suit your taste at all. I've never been crazy about skream but he definitely has a few really good tunes out. just "shop around" in the related videos of artists you like on here and you're bound to come across some good stuff 1L
this isn't dubstep. obviously this album is done by a dubstep artists....but the genre is breakbeat house....a genre that pretty much the first sound that people would "rave" too. this genre floated about during late 80's and declined aroun 1993. hence the name of the album this track is taken from....where were you in 92.....this refers to the music released in 1992 as many people say it was the best year for music EVER, with jungle taking off and some of the best hardcore tracks being released
@noisefuckbastard shutup you fuckin ignorant pissed. Lots of ppl give a fuck. Origins, progression, culture and history are some of the greatest aspects of civilization. If art didn't have scenes and movements it would just be an atomized, insular world of ppl workin on stuff in their bedrooms.
@amitrayit1990 You got some knowledge. I'd love some links to the music you say this is like. Is this what D&B came out of then? (obviously alongside hardcore and ragga influences) I cant really get my head round the origins of d&b/jungle.
@amitrayit1990 you got some knowledge! I love a link to the music you say this is like. So is that what d&b/jungle came out of then (aswell as the obvious ragga and hardcore) I can never get my head round the conditions d&b came from
@amitrayit1990 is that the official name of the genre widely known as "old skl"?
i wanted to post a similar comment before i saw this one, but i wasn't sure of the actual name of that genre... that whole period of music was so confusing. after old skl sorta came old skl hardcore, then into jungle, then into dnb, then stuff got shit.... right?
who cares what words you put to it. genres mean nothing, they are just mind inventions. delusions. there's nothing more annoying than how on every tune on youtube there seems to be comments about whether the tune is post-dubstep with minimal techno tinges or progressive house with a leniency towards early jungle breaks. they are just words, they mean nothing. the tune is just the tune. enjoy it for what it is. don't project your ideas on to it.
Dude we obviously need genres to classify music. It's a useful tool for both artists and fans to describe and discuss sounds, influences, lyrics etc. You sound like a douche.
@peraltaman he is speaking truth ffs, go fuck yourself if you are dissapointed and you thought this was just regular dubstep and it turns out you dont know shit
@DanielBombastic i didnt think anything other then this is great music, its middle school shit to go on in explain what genre this should be placed under grow up
@amitrayit1990 Sounds like it has a pretty dubsteppy beat and a typical baseline. Also I think 'breakbeat' house is a pretty self contradictory statement, which is irrelevant as this track doesn't have breaks. Also the album names seems to have been derived from an M.I.A track where she clearly says "Where were you in 92?" at several points. I just am really sick of people constantly putting out these psuedo-knowledgeable comments on videos.
@TimeForBold you retard i seriously doubt that zomby would listen to MIA and quote one of her lyrics as the album title, look at the other songs on the mixtape and you will see they all have a 1990s style, *I* am just sick of retarded people like you making retarded comments. sit the fuck down
@DubbaSkank REALLY MAN? Did he say that last time you two met for coffee? Also really observant about the "1990s style"! THANKS DUDE, I DIDN'T NOTICE! I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW RAVE WAS A GENRE BEFORE ZOMBY! You also neglected the fact that I said the album title *seems* to be derived from an M.I.A track, I never said it *was*. And like I already pointed out, how the fuck would you know what Zomby likes?
Also when you said "sit the fuck down" it was really stupid and shit, just like your comment.
@TimeForBold Mate the track has breaks ;). Anyway you're right that we never called the music breakbeat house, although most of the first tunes to use breaks were similar to the house tunes, just without the 4/4 beats. Most of us called the music 'hardcore' until the genre splits in 93 with jungle techno, jungle, dark side, darkcore etc, etc. Also, I didn't hear the expression 'Happy Hardcore' until about 94, but it might have been coined earlier.
@TimeForBold I was a very young man when I attended my first (illegal) parties on the south coast, but got dragged along with my sister and her mates. Wicked times. I just loved the music. Still do as you can see from my favourites!
