lol everyone is saying that she needs to pull back on the shot.. i think she gets it!! people, you don't need to post the same comment if someone else has!!!!!
where is the alcohole wipe?We use them to prevent introduction germs from top skin going underneath to grow in good enviorments.Which can make worse infections.
Yeah, don't forget to pull back on the shot. Always check to see if there is blood when you pull back on it. You might want to ask your vet just to clear things up. Maybe there was a misunderstanding. Your horse was very obedient througout the whole thing!

You should always, always, always have someone holding the horse while giving it a shot. NEVER let a horse stand on its own while giving it a shot. Even if you've given the horse shots before. It could get spooked or frightened,or, kick or run away. Very important thing to remember. Also, I know you've heard this many times, but draw the syringe back a little, there could of been a vein or vessel there. anyway beautiful horse.
no, yea, your suppose to pull back and make sure there is no blood, cause if there is, your put it in the vein, which won't hurt him, but it just should not be injected in the vein.
If you do, the medicine ( whatever it is) will spread very quickly and that is not a really good thing (the reaction is more intense), especially when vaccination is in question. I'm just telling you this for the benefit of your horse ;o) Good luck!
heh... that is done only in cases when the horse is very scared and you have mare seconds for application. It seems to me that your horse is far from being frightened ;o) So, trust me, just draw back next time, it will take you half a second and you will be sure that you do not inject in the blood stream.
the vet showed me how to put the shot in, and he said just poke it in real fast and inject the medicine then take it out. he never said to pull back or anything.
@HorsesWithAmie Loola29 is correct. with subq or im injectiosn you want to aspirate(slightly pull back once the needle is in to make sure no blood enters the syringe)the reason for this is that if you inject the medicine into a blood vessle there is a much higher chance that the animal will have a bad reaction because its entering its body too fast through the bloodstream. Most times you are not in a vessle but its always safe to check,it only takes an extra second, good job though! Nice horse
that is a top notch bomb proof horse

You ALWAYS want to make sure you pull back first to insure you are not in a blood vessel. Please contact your VET for further advice on this matter.
