as someone who has played hockey for years, i have discovered. it is only natural for the best players to complain more than everyone else. as they get hit more, and make more plays that draw penalties. i agree at times it is a bit much but every time i take an elbow or a slash i look right to the ref to see if he caught it and its up to the players and the coaches to tell the refs what to look out for so they dont get away with it twice

They both are the best two way players in the world, and they're 1, 2 on the PK. I didn't see malkin OR crosby kill a single second of penalties the entire year. Datsyuk averages more points per minute than Ovechkin AND Malkin (which means more than anyone else in the league) and nobody gives him love. I also remember Malkin disappearing for last years Finals.

Jagr even stated after two Pens games this year that he wanted to finish his career in Pittsburgh possibly. I meant to say Malkin is originally a natural Center. but I agree they need to have their own lines. Crosby on the first and Malkin running the second at center. I'm not complaining, but as big Pens fans I am just agreeing with what everyone else in the media and in Pittsburgh is saying. Crosby still needs to find a solid line mate. well it's easy to see it like that, but as Pens fan trust me he still needs someone. Malkin is a natural forward. He needs to run his own line. That's one of the reasons he has been so successful without Crosby with Sykora and Malone lately. Lets be honest though, lemieux was older not in his prime, Palfy was only there for a bit and did not do much, Recchi is half speed these days, Robers is a good player but he crashes the net more, he can't keep up with Crosby.
it will be interesting to see for sure. However Crosby has already broken most of Gretzky's rookie and early records. Gretzky might be more of a pure goal scorer, but like Lemieux Crosby can assist on goals like no other. Plus Crosby has been limited at times as who he has as a line mate. Once the Pens get a big name forward to compliment him on his line, which they should before the trade deadline Crosby should be putting even more and more goals in.
it's an excellent argument to make and he certainly is on Crosby's level or very close to it. I have to give the edge to Crosby though simply because he is going 100% every shift, and Malkin does not do that as much, but he has been lately. Crosby in my opinion will be the best hockey player to ever play the game, no one will come close not even Gretzky or Lemieux..but Malkin certainly will be up there with him. As a Pens fan I'm just happy to have them on the same team :)

Malkin is one of the best players in the whole world and everyone knows it. he was sick the first 3 games of the playoffs against the redwings. And everyone is saying he sucks HE WAS FUCKING SICK ASSHOLES! And when he wasn't sick he rocked and always will rock and i am glad and happy as hell that he is staying in pittsburg!

Ok...I'm a Pens fan and I love Crosby, but to say he got them to the finals is fucking stupid. He missed a big portion of the regular season, but by judging your remarks, you probably only watch the playoffs. Ohh and Crosby's stats compared to Malkins isn't that different in the finals. Crosby had one more goal and maybe one more assist.

It´s hard to say who is best, Crosby or Malkin. But I think Malkin use he´s talent better. Crosby have to shoot little bite more, i don´t like when players pass to much, but crosby have a really good talent for the play

You're the reason why it's important for NHL teams to have a good front office. Challenge Malkin to improve his defensive play, not his offensive play. His offensive tools are all world. You say he's gonna cost us the cup?? Maybe he's the reason the Pens only lost 2 games through 3 rounds of playoff hockey.

how's he not better? he's a better goal scorer now than crosby will ever be and just as good as a play maker. he's bigger, stronger on his skates(doesn't dive), better shot and throws big time body checks. and he's proving it all in the playoffs.

Obivously you got to consider goals too ... but for over all points, I would 'point' out that neither Malkin (who is all kinds of awesome) and Ovechkin (who I got to admit is extrodinary) have not match Crosby's point total from last year.
Bot Malkin and Crosby play in a much tougher division than Ovechkin; if Malkin was in the piece of crap SouthEast division he would have won the scoring title without a doubt this year.

wat r all of u talking about crosby being the best of all time. from wat i remember, gretzky and mario scored goals, crosby only gives amazing passes, but hes not a scorer. the best all around player in the nhl at the moment is ovechkin, he does everything. and malkin is 2nd in points!!! i want malkin to be traded, crosby is stealing his thunder. both malkin and ovechkin are better than crosby. but hes still amazing.

just like Sykora jumped at the chance to join them. The Pens will have some cap room to spend, so like it or not you will more than likely be seeing another big name forward on the team. Jagr even stated after two Pens games this year that he wanted to finish his career in Pittsburgh possibly. I doubt it will happen, but you never know, it just shows how popular the Pens are and how much a lot of players would love to join the team

I meant to say Malkin is originally a natural Center. but I agree they need to have their own lines. Crosby on the first and Malkin running the second at center. I'm not complaining, but as big Pens fans I am just agreeing with what everyone else in the media and in Pittsburgh is saying. Crosby still needs to find a solid line mate. The good thing about the Pens is a lot of players in the league really want to be a part of that team with crosby, Malkin and all the other young stars.

well it's easy to see it like that, but as Pens fan trust me he still needs someone. Malkin is a natural forward. He needs to run his own line. That's one of the reasons he has been so successful without Crosby with Sykora and Malone lately. Lets be honest though, lemieux was older not in his prime, Palfy was only there for a bit and did not do much, Recchi is half speed these days, Robers is a good player but he crashes the net more, he can't keep up with Crosby.

it will be interesting to see for sure. However Crosby has already broken most of Gretzky's rookie and early records. Gretzky might be more of a pure goal scorer, but like Lemieux Crosby can assist on goals like no other. Plus Crosby has been limited at times as who he has as a line mate. Once the Pens get a big name forward to compliment him on his line, which they should before the trade deadline Crosby should be putting even more and more goals in.

it's an excellent argument to make and he certainly is on Crosby's level or very close to it. I have to give the edge to Crosby though simply because he is going 100% every shift, and Malkin does not do that as much, but he has been lately. Crosby in my opinion will be the best hockey player to ever play the game, no one will come close not even Gretzky or Lemieux..but Malkin certainly will be up there with him. As a Pens fan I'm just happy to have them on the same team :)

I never said he was now, but he certainly will be the best to ever play the game in my opinion. And many in the hockey sports world share that view. just watch any game he plays in. what he does on the ice is magic, and any tv telecastor or hockey analyst says it.
and when Gretzky himself says that this Kid is ''going to be better than me and rewrite all my records. and that's a direct quote from the man himself. I'm not predicting anything. but don't be blind man. just watch the kid play.

gretsky played in a time period where each team would score 5 or 6 goals a night.the goalies equipment is so much bigger now than it was when grestky played.crosby wont be any of his records but he is still better.and 3/4s of ovechkins assits come from rebounds so stop saying he is better than croby people are so stupid

2 goals an assist tonight, give this guy more pressure, responsibility (and line mates) and put him back in center and look at how he responds.
Not to bash Crosby but with out Crosby in the line up Malkin is averaging more ppg, point per game than Crosby was, as mentioned already I now see haha.
