@irishclevertrevor I agree but i do think that we need to revamp the navy as some of the ships are getting old and they will have to be decommisioned eventually.

LOL the F-16 is a fourth generation multirole jet fighter aircraft capable of supersonic flight that costs over €14.5 million per aircraft. the IAC doesnt have any fourth generation fighter aircraft because it does not need them. President Dwight Eisenhower said that part of the defense of a nation is good foreign relations. Ireland doesnt need a big armed forces to force our rivals to respect us because we dont have any rivals. GROW UP! LOL.

@spacemooseireland what are you on about? of course i know the full story im a soldier i sat through lectures on this you idiot! think carefully before you start insulting me and making up facts. ireland was helping french imperialism, if france insists on flying their flag over another mans nation, then its frances responsibility to protect its people, not neutral ireland, it cost us millions, and we shouldnt have been there. im glad we were, because a lot of other armies couldnt be trusted -
ireland should have never been in chad. it had NOTHING to do with us. our deployment to chad was a complete disgrace to our foreign policiy, we helped the french with imperialism. the same thing that ireland should know all about being victem to. that said though, when we got there, we did a seriously good job. there was ALWAYS an irish military presence in our area of opps, and our presence saved a lot of innocent people.
you do get the odd action man who thinks ireland should arm itself to the teeth....for what?maybe they should get an x box to play out their games?
