Sounds to me like he wrote this as a perspective of someone who was most likely molested by their father. How all they wanted was love and respect from their father. But the molestation happened. Sad.

@killjoy377 While it might seem like a song about inappropriate touching of a minor from the lyrics "times I sat on your lap" and "you'd always touch my knees" and skip down to "you haven't tears enough for what you've done to me" there is the confusing bit about the primary complaint actually seems to be "and now you fade away." I think he is singing from the perspective of a woman who is missing her man and she wants one last kiss before he fades away.
