I wonder how that shitty, oil-guzzling, tank-like, disaster exists in this time of oil-crisis. It goes to show how nerve-wrackingly annoying us Indians are when it comes to letting go of something that's mundane and outdated.
for your information they dont have the same engines as the original Morris oxford on which they are based. They use more modern Isuzu based units, at least Indians can buy a cheap car, in the uk we dont have cheap cars anymore... think yourselves lucky!
so if they arent cheap, how are they still being sold? there are infinitely better cars out there being sold in india, so who'd pay a premium for a 50year old design of car?
From what I understand, for most of the 50 years they were the Trabant of India- the only car available. Now they're basically the Ford Crown Vic/Lincoln Town Car of India, mainly sold to fleets.
Design is old, however it has modern features like Euro 3 ISUZU Engine, Power Windows, Power Steering, AC/Heat, Front Disc Brakes. Yes, it could do with Air Bags. Trust me, it looks old, but the latest Ambassadors are very modern. Unless you dislike it for it's looks, it is a good buy for it's price. I find it's back seat more comfortable than my 1993 Honda Accord. Plus, it has the Old British Heritage looks and appeal of the Oxford Morris 3. I find it more useful than Maruti 800 or Santro.
Great car forever and ever
