It may mark a difference if you went to a two-year college, or got into Harvard. You learn independence, since YOU have to register for classes, buy books, and study all by YOUR SELF without being pushed. If you fail you lose tuition, grants or scholarships, and have to pay your way through, so failing is not acceptable.

I strongly oppose Savage on this one. Some of the smartest people I know never went to college. I can pull up all the info I want on any subject, and educate myself way past the level of a Harvard grad. Just because you had the means to pay several thousand dollars for your education, doesn't mean it's more valuable than the education others recieved from other sources. 2+2 still equals 4, no matter how much you paid someone to teach it to you.

Savage is dead wrong on this point. Self education Americans tend to be the most "intelligent". The kind of person that drops out of college because they realized it was a waste of time, and hamstringing their goals. Luv ya Savage, but you need a reality check regarding this issue. Beck for instance has grown a good deal in the last 4 years or so. He had dedicated much of his time to learning and studying history, and societal shifts. I may have agreed with you a couple years ago, not now.

I like Savage but I disagree with him on this one. Beck is not faking it, and College does not teach you how to deliver any news expect for old school news. These are new times, modern times, and I don't want to watch news anchors so serious, sitting there not cracking a smile, and pretending to talk a way that they don't when they go home after working the news all day. Savage is old fashioned, so that is fine, but you don't have to have an education to deliver the news. That is ridiculous.

Going to college doesn't mean you smarter than everybody, but a proper education means that you are more qualified to handle certain things. A person who studied political science, debate, and philosophy can talk more about politics than person who didn't. Whats more, they can speculate. Bill Reilly's problem is that he's a jerk and yells too much. (I personally don't like him) You can't, however, say that college doesn't help you at being more successful, because frankly, it does.

It may mark a difference if you went to a two-year college, or got into Harvard. Nonetheless, it shows that you are more educated; not because you learn facts, but because you are challenged and pushed to the limit. You learn independence, since YOU have to register for classes, buy books, and study all by YOUR SELF without being pushed. If you fail you lose tuition, grants or scholarships, and have to pay your way through, so failing is not acceptable.

(The mark of an educated person is seen in his speech, as well as the written word) Some of you have even talked about homeschooling. That's fine but that has nothing to do with the point, because home schooled children still go to college.

I strongly oppose Savage on this one. Some of the smartest people I know never went to college. I can pull up all the info I want on any subject, and educate myself way past the level of a Harvard grad. Just because you had the means to pay several thousand dollars for your education, doesn't mean it's more valuable than the education others recieved from other sources. 2+2 still equals 4, no matter how much you paid someone to teach it to you.
