Keith Wood is bang on. High swinging shoulder is illegal. And thats what that was. Whinge and moan all you want but that was an illegal tackle. If he had of went lower and failed to wrap his arms the ref would have let it go. But if your gonna swing in the shoulder that high on a player running into you at pace, then make damn sure you complete the tackle. If you dont then all it is is a shoulder charge and your gonna be penalised no matter how good your intentions were.

From Kaplan's angle I'm not suprised he got it wrong. But he got it wrong. Kearney could have dodged Palu but he ran hard, with venom and was upright. Cliffy tried to wrap his arms around but couldn't because of the ricochet. 3 out of the 4 Irish analysts thought it was good.

Palu was on fire and Aust would have had front foot ball in great territory. Kaplan is notorious for putting the dagger into Australian rugby and this particular ruling was a bit rough.
