Much food can be packaged in do-it-yourself MREs, if you get a heat sealer, oil-free nitrogen, and 1000' of 8" poly bags. If you get a vacuum sealer, then you can pack away underwear, socks, pants, shirts, fabric, thread, zippers, buttons, leather, rubber, etc., for extended shelf-life. You will need seeds and know how to sprout beans an propagate potatoes, tomatoes, and citrus fruits. Are you near salt?
