OMG, awesome picture! Yeah, I like 1 too...he DID protct them, he just tried a little too hard. I didn't start to like him until...about the tenth time I watched the movie. I actually kind of felt bad for him because he seemed unloved. I mean, he's the oldest and he doesn't really have any other to look up to. being the oldest must be scary sometimes... :(

@PsychofanGal. No. I like 1 too. I find him very funny when he yells at 8 and mumbles to himself. He's really silly at times too. Like him better without the cape and hat.

PsychoFanGal, 1 is actually my favourite character. He's a lot more complicated than... actually, a lot more complicated than some of the other characters, and in some ways is very unlike his brethren, which makes him a very lonely character. He's one of them, and they are all very similar in some ways, but 1 is... well, he's very jaded and aged, and he seems much more self-aware than most of the others, which causes its own problems.

at the end 1 realizes what a fool he's been and jumps in front of 9 to have his soul sucked.he was only trying to protect them. he didnt know he was wrong.

I heard in the extras on the DVD that since 1 was created first, he was basically rushed through with flat steel plates for fingers and feet and quickly sewn. Because he was the first, they also mentioned that because of what he was made of he would be the crabbiest.

I like 1 to a certain extent....He really pissed me off at times, but he REALLY makes a great character. Not to mention his redeeming himself at the end.

He's really interesting, if nothing else. (I like writing in his perspective)

I mean, sure he was a jerk. But he's old and meant to protect them, he was created that way.

He was also the first to be created, so he's seen more horrors than the rest- and in his own twisted way he wants to protect his family.

Even if the Russian version apparently reveals even more than the English one, pinning the blame on 1 for doing nothing to save the humans is...how could he? He's a ragdoll. Sure, he and all the others except 9 were in the war, but from what we saw, the ragdolls contributed little to that...they were made to ensure that, in whatever way possible, humanity survived.

And, hey, at least 1 redeemed himself.
