That is definately his voice, the image of course, is animated. He was a character, he told it like it was. He was a real Texan, I enjoy listening to the old tapes now. This is for real, this is the true LBJ!
It's a spoof... that's not LBJ. And people need to do a little research on the man before you totally denounce him. His Vietnam policy was flawed, but domestically he passed some very important bills. Love him, hate him or maybe a little bit of both-- he was a brilliant political mind.
Actually this IS LBJ -- this was on the news believe it or not along with a lot of other hilarious things various presidents / presidential candidates have done / said.
I dunno about that, in many ways he had a better case than JFK at the 1960 convention. He was much more experienced politically and knew how to get stuff done politically.
LBJ would have been buried forever in American memory if he hadn't left all those tapes, which are fascinating and incredibly entertaining -- the man was a brilliant talker and wordsmith.
Bush, I'm sure, not only has no tapes; they would make very painful listening if he did.
actually I think it'd be funny if Bush had tapes, I'd listen to them cause they'd probably be hillarious. He'd probably some shit like "I'm the decider and I decide what's right"
Lyndon Johnson was a total egomaniac who self destructed as President and brought this country down with him. Unfortunately it got worse with his predisesor, Richard Nixon, who damn near destroyed this country. Now we are close to reliveing history. George W, like Johnson, has taken a winable war and turned it in to a catastrophe.
That's because they allow politicians to run the war, unlike FDR, who let the Generals do what they had to do. But most people today can't stomach war.
LBJ taped his phone conversations for his memoirs and also to remember what members of Congress and cabinet had said to him in the past. I've read the transcript so I'm assuming this is taken from the actual tape available at the Johnson Library.
Martin Luther King was still alive, and so was Bobby Kennedy. I discovered a shiny new 1968 penny in the parking lot that had fallen out of a hole in LBJ's pants pocket. I wandered into the auto show at the civic center -- all I could look at was my shiny LBJ penny.
Sam....i LOVE it...you should make more videos...I CAN'T wait to see more videos....and for sure I'm bringing my camera this weekend and you'll have to help me edit it and put it up here as a good bye movie for you know who...
Yeah Johnson was really funny, he had ordered at least 8 people murdered.

why was this recorded? LOL I don't get it.

From day one (meaning 11/22/63), LBJ recorded nearly every phone conversation on dictabelts going in and out of his office.
Historian Michael Beschloss has written several well done, annotated books transcribing the tapes: "Taking Charge" and "Reaching For Glory".

It is a pleasure to see an individual comment on LBJ based upon tuition and research instead of rigid dogmatism.

I think the prez's stopped taping themselves after Nixon. But you're right, it would be great to hear the presidents uncensored.
