Shortstuff321. Try doing them split time at first. Keep one hand a little higher and in front of the other. Check out other tutorials on Home of Poi and PoiPoi (they list theirs under "tuition." I think they are from down under and mean tutorials. Of course, different tricks take time. I have tried some (like 5 beat weave) for a long time before I got it.

if your poi hit on butterflies.. start slower with your poi overlapping in split time then speed up. keep your poi on angles to each other and slowly build up so your hand are moving in the same rhythum. and almost like magic it will work.

and yes that move is a windmill. A pin wheel is also known as a buzz saw or spinning wheel? your poi are both splits time infront of you.

clone301. If you mean they hit when doing butterfly, then just hold one hand a little higher than the other and the lower hand a little more in front of the higher one. This should keep them from hitting. ALso, try doing it split time--less likely to bump.
