    dennishavlena dt com slash harp

  • @wmacdonald

It just made your music sound a bit more Holey! Thanks for posting.

  • @wmacdonald It's a magnificent hole. One of the best. The way you play the harp may be even better.

  • what happened to your bluejean ?

  • lovely harpist ;-) what to say... hmmmm

1 like the urchin look (in a good way)

2 like the way you look in harmony with harp

3 like the settings for your video's (taking the instrument back to its roots)

4 like your little collection of harps

5 like the celtic harp, the forward facing sound box is unbeatable

6 and finally, keep up the GOOD work ;-)

  • Thank you clanpip! I especially like the urchin part :-) J.

  • tell me, how easy is it to learn this instrument? and how would someone get it?

  • @CameronSquirrel I have no idea how easy it would be to learn the harp, although I share a love of the instrument. I do however know where you can get a harp of this beautiful quality. The harp in this video is the Seiriol Harp (incase you neglected to read the description of the video) you can get the Seiriol harp at Macdonald Harps.

if you go to google and type in Macdonald Harps-Clarsach: Harp Maker, Scotland the first link will be the link to the website

    Cheers eh?

  • @MrMalcolmS thanks for your help, means a lot

  • Sounds great!

  • There is a very basic version of this song in 'O'neil's music of Ireland'. By basic I mean just a simplified melody line.

  • Sorry MountainGirlXianPu I have lost the music for this but you should be able to find it. I wish I could help!!! Good luck...

  • Beautifull.

I was researching for old celtic instruments like Carnyx, Crwth and other things that made me want to scream. Finally I hear a beautifull chanting. It takes the right person som play a good song with the right instrument.

  • Thanks movienaut! :-) I love the Crwth. I tried to play it once without success...

  • Thank you!

    J...

  • very beautiful

  • Your soundboard's about five times the size of mine! I guess that's what gives it the great sound.

  • Love the syncopation. Well played.

  • How can this small harp sound so great? :)

  • Thanks! ;-)

  • I am in love. This is simply gorgeous. I love the harp, such a gentle sound. Beautiful! :)

  • simply awesome

  • how long did it take you to reach this level?

  • beautiful

  • Thanks! My dad builds harps but he does not have a shop.

    J...

  • I love the tone of your beautiful harp. May I ask where you got it from? Also, we are visiting Skye for a holiday in February - maybe there is a harp shop there you could recommend?

  • Very soothing and calm, great :)

  • thank you AxelNovusOrsaWoW J.

  • Thanks - the harp has the look and sound of authenticity. (I.e, it is not one of those modern, so-called "Irish" harps.) Likewise, ms. Josephine plays finely and knowingly. Her choice of music also sounds authentic - perfectly appropriate to the idom and refreshingly unromantic. A stray thought: I wonder if she regards herself as a Celt? I mean, could there have been a "Sassenach" or Norse relative back there somewhere? (NO offense intended, most of us out here are blends.) In any case, thanks!

  • Thank you JoelvanLennep, It could be the Macdonald Norse connection maybe....

  • @JoelvanLennep I think you forgot your hipster glasses before you posted that comment :D

  • just pure awsome :)

  • this is got to be the most beautiful music I have ever heard

  • Thank you BazerkerKing :-) J.

  • @wmacdonald oh no, its ok, thnx for replying, loooooooooooooooooove your playing soooooooooooooooo much!!! :-)

  • Love this arrangement! :)

  • How much did that little harp cost? I would love one for myself! :)

  • @MariaLovesDisney a lot, couple hundread pounds at least

  • Where can I find a Seririol harp?

  • That looks really hard.

  • beautiful piece and lovely instrument. Am learning this on the mandolin; the CD accompanying the music plays it with a different tempo. I prefer your version!

  • Absolutely lovely piece and a beautiful instrument. I am learning to play a version of this song on a mandolin. Interestingly, the tempo of the song on the CD that came with the music book is different from yours. I prefer your version.

  • Thanks Ptcabe, at the time I guessed how it sound. i am sure it is wrong ;-)

    J.

  • wow! thank you soo much. You are Brill.

  • I wish I ws brill! but thanks.

    J.

  • Thank you! :-)

  • Wow, you have a beautiful harp. But what is a Seiriol harp?

Nice playing, BTW, i like it. :)

  • A 22 string wire strung harp. thanks! :-)

  • Why isn't there a lot of movement in your hands like I've been taught to use?

  • Hi DaughterOfApollo, It is a wire strung harp with a very different style of playing. You play well J ;-)

  • r u left handed?

  • Hi ChrisBclips,

No I am not left handed but it was more common for Celtic the wire strung clarsach to be played on the left shoulder rather than the right...Josephine

  • @wmacdonald

hmm cool. its sounded beauiful btw

  • Thanks Anita. you play the Chanters Song beutifully! :-)

  • magnificent~pure joy~peace love and gratitude

  • Thank you ever so much! Love!!!

  • Hi :) can you tell me where i can bought a small clarsach like yours? Thx

  • Hi Myrnir, I make them :-)

  • @wmacdonald Interesting. How much do you retail them for? And where is your workshop located? I live in Central Scotland. I have no talent or aptitude for music but I still want to play.

  • Hi! £495. My workshop is on Skye :-)

  • I thought the Scots place the harp on the right shoulder, while the Welsh play it on the left.

  • The wire strung Gaelic clarsachs where commonly played on the left shoulder but jose has always played this way from when she first played a Paraguayan harp. For her it is more comfortable.

  • Thanks I would love to add it to my collection of music and then to my memorized repertoire! You are too kind! :)

  • what a beautiful tune, I wish I knew what it's name was. would love to learn it.

  • I have the music for it somewhere, I did have? I can dig it out for you i think :-)

  • Such a beautiful harp, girl an music! :-)

    Thanks for sharing!

Skye is such a great place...

Which brand of harp is it?!

I hope to come in Ireland as soon as possible.

  • Simply beautiful!

    J...

  • Hey ho^^

How much it costs your harp ? =)

I want buy the same one ^^

  • Beautiful, and to think we not long ago visited Skye yes and it was wet but nice and atmospheric.

  • Thank you! Yes, skye does get wet sometimes :-)

  • If you take requests, I would LOVE to hear you play some T. O'Carolan! And could it also be outside like this too? : ) -Bri.

  • Thank you! I'll try and make a recording for you but I'll have to wait for the weather to pick up a little ;-)

  • Hi Josie, what an honor! Gosh! I never had anyone say they would play a tune for me! hehe. What I like best about your playing (besides it sounds so beautiful) is the fact that you are not all "fancy and posed and dressed up" like most harpist videos. You look normal and natural! Cheers, Bri. : )

  • A timeless moment. So natural and simple. This could have happened 500 years ago without any changes. Simple Melodies simply played, are the best! : )

    ~Brian~
