  • Not 'The Best' in my opinion, but still good as fuck!!!!

  • If you measure the best version by which one is the most intergalactic well then this version is surely the best

  • Best version of Stone Free ??? How about Fillmore East late show at 01/01/1970:

    watch?v=uSQXEYmVW_s

Anyway, live at Royal Albert Hall was amazing and it certainly had the best version of Room Full Of Mirrors:

    watch?v=Heuw48wgG6Y

    ;)

  • @Femaqo Thanks, ive been looking for this version on youtube.

  • i really want to see this act live...

  • nice

  • There are many who can play/copy Jimi. But only Jimi knew what, when and how to make his guitar sound the way it did. He did nt play notes, he played music sounds when put together created epic pieces.

This performance is one of Jimi's best ever. Thanks for posting and the nice video

  • @Pashatube I couldn't have put any better than you just did here. This is my all time favourite live version by my all time favourite musician.

  • Know of another, longer rock solo?

  • @partof1 of course

  • that must of been some good acid...

  • @nateman1370 he probably just smoked a joint before the set- no doubt he experimented with 25 but certainly not at every great performance

  • Wish I could see this on video....Mr James Marshall Hendrix, aka 'The Man With The Guitar', himself playing. Wish I had seen it live would be a dream come true ...but that is reaching for the stars...

  • @ranjanchadha think it is on youtube somewhere- its live at the albert hall and was filmed for sure, there are also audio sound checks from that gig posted too

  • H3rman123 was one of the douchiest people here on you tube. Whatever happened to that weirdo? I will give him credit though for posting some really good and rare Hendrix recordings. Even though he couldn't tell the difference between a guy dressed in a Hendrix costume and Hendrix himself. Love that solo from 9:04 to 9:23. Brilliant!

  • that "Marshall Wall of Death" sounds unreal

  • Hendrix Forever !!

  • I love how he incorporates licks from other random songs in his solos. Little Drummer Boy? That lets you know exactly how beast of a guitarist he was. In the middle of playing cohesive random notes, he thought to himself "I like how Little Drummer Boy sounds. I think I'll play it!" INSANE!

  • Mitchell's drumming is absolutely Insane!!

  • Finally a video without annotations

  • hendrix truly is a god!!

  • Kick ass version. The whole live, from the album The Last experience) is a must have. Jimi Hendrix rules. Too bad he died so soon

  • beat this Steve Vai

  • you got to check ot the bbc sessions . awsome

  • Agreed this is a fantastic version of Stone Free.

Check out the Version from the Band of Gypsys. Is is pretty incredible as well.

Jimi was and still the man!!!

  • No sir vessel

  • Albert Hall concert is Jimi's greatest in my opinion. A remarkable record.

  • a friend told me .. during this song ..one of his strings ripped. is that true? cuz we both can't hear it :D

an thats y it was unreleased for so long

please correctq^1 me if its bullshit^^

  • jimi hendrix is god!!!!!! this song and specially the solo is so fucking amazing!!!! I love him!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • holy shit this is awesome!!

  • AMAZZINNGGG :D.

  • That one cartoon has Jimi as right-handed, which is incorrect.

  • @EdwardTeachEsq haha... true story... lol

  • supreme every note I am now completely stoned & free baby !

  • 0:25 seg. Hendrix the best guitar player ever, with a LP of Elmore James.. In spite of the fact that his music was in the future and in Saturn, he used to heard the Delta´s old masters.

  • "stone free"...but still a little stoned !!!

  • Good grief that audience sure got their money's worth! I met him in London in 68 at a club one night, I didn't know what to say so just asked him how he kept his guitar in tune when he was doing all that wild stuff...."Oh man you just gotta tune while you play" he said...."Just tune while you play".....;)

  • @oceantracks Wow that's incredible. I've seen him do that so many times too, but he does it so well you can barely tell he's doing it! You're a lucky person I'm only 19 I long missed my chances of meeting him in a club!

  • LOVE THIS ONE!!!!!!

    +11

  • Best rock guitar solo of all time, it's so far beyond what other guitarist have achieved, it's on another dimensional level altogether !

  • one of jimi best solos

  • why did mitch mitchell leave the band? it seemed to me mitch and hendrix got along well

  • @NANDO218 he didnt leave; jimi started doing the band of gypsies stuff and then reconnected with mitch for woodstock

  • @2dum2getsocialism yes but eventually, he was dropped for buddy miles. it doesnt matter that much anyway. i love the feel of both bands. the all black band connected better i think

  • @NANDO218 totally agree with the change in dynamics/sound/style with band of gypsies versus the experience or whatever he called the woodstock crew (gypsy sun and rainbows or summin'); didn't the call hendrix the "open channel?"

  • @2dum2getsocialism im not too sure if they called im that but if they did, i can understand why

  • As soon as I clicked on the link, I knew it had to be the one from The Jimi Hendrix Concerts. And it is! Great post!

Folks, save a few coins, hop onto Ebay for The Jimi Hendrix Concerts, released in the early 80's on Reprise. Best collection of random Hendrix live cuts ever put out.

  • Wow before this I was sure the Band of Gypsys bersion was best...

...but have to say I rather prefer Hendrix solos with a more complicated base, ie Message To Love, Ezy Ryder..

This song during solo is on one chord the whole time...Jimi could rip this apart in his sleep....

Best version of Stone Free live easily..

we miss you Jimi :) God Bless

  • Yeah, its def. the best version.... I had this one on my first trip. Thís guitar is talking. I don´t have words for it. But I remember everything.

  • @Trendmunger yea man. i think its saying something about freedom

  • @NANDO218 Well, obviously, it´s Stone Free, isn´t it? But it´s not that flat, it goes a little deeper than that.

  • @Trendmunger well i was speaking about most of his music in general. it talks to me also. it talks about letting your heart out and screaming until all that energy dissipates into the atmosphere and you have nothing left. until the next time of course. thr freedom i was talking about was about just going off and not worrying about what other people might be thinking about those sounds but just belching them out as strong and passionate as u could. its not just that either. hard to explain

  • @Trendmunger its like a lesson. something teaching us some kind of meaning thats hard to grasp and put into words but u can feel. some kind of universal consciousness. some kind of solid base where we should stand on except we choose to drown beneath it. sorry if im rambling but like i said, its hard to explain. i just cant seem to get into the same meditative state when i listen to every other music. theres always thoughts attached to it. not with jimi. the music takes control

  • It gets amazingly stratospheric, fer Fuck's sake! ultra Angel-Power, here!

  • EXPLOSIVE is all i can say !!! I've loved him from the very 1st day I heard him and I think even more now cause when I was young ,bootlegs were hard to get !!! Youtube definately keeps me busy..!! makes me want too quit and practice at the same time..haha.........Gotta get my band back together....damn !!!

  • been looking for this for ages. Used to have it on cassette. Blank with no label so didn't know where it came from. Went to party. Got pissed. Lost it !

  • The guitar solo is just amazing, it goes on for so long and it must brake the guitar. Amazing song and best guitar player in the world. No questions asked.

  • Just had to re-listen to this lovely Jimi Hendrix Fave' of mine. :-)) 02:01--->02:18 delightful; 03:18 Picture would love to have on my wall; 05:08-->Jimi make that guitar talk and sing as only you could do; 06:20--->6:44 would love the whole black and white picture of Jimi; most fantab; 09:22 some Ymmmie sounds only Jimi could do like this. Love to you Jimi. RIP <3 <3 <3

  • Yes I am in Heaven right now. Such a Masterful musician all the way around; voice, creations of lyrics and his Masterful Guitar playing. LOVE YOU JIMI HENDRIX. Love his full name: James Marshall Hendrix. Thanks for including this for me. Have a splendid day all you Jimi Hendrix Fans. This Gem is One of my Faves. This gift of a share I clicked on the link to listen to at 12:22 OM on my pc; see #222 is an Angel code for me; "Everything Will Be All Right....." Now that is fantab for me. <3 to ALLL

  • flamenco solo at 9:15... crazy

  • Yes, lots of versions of this on the tube, but you've got the winner here. Too bad not the vid of the performance itself.

  • Finally found it

  • you were not lying haha best fuckin version

  • yeaahhh the best version ever !!!

  • Mitch on drums & Noel on bass are kickin some serious major rock n'roll ass!

  • fu....´incredible , man!

  • Without a doubt the best version ever and probably my favourite Jimi Hendrix performance.

  • This is the best version of Stone Free ever.

  • Feedback on 6:15 is great.

  • @amihol not only that but he then catches the feedback with the whammy bar like the ghostbusters nab one of those piglet protoclasms

  • Best version of course...I bought the LP 1985 the year of publication in germany!!! I love it!!!

  • yes the best version of stone free ever ! So crazy solo ! yeah !

  • Yes, this is really best version - from Royal Albert Hall, 24. feb. 1969 - last Jimi's concert in Europe 'till his come back late in 1970.

  • @amihol I actually had no idea that this was from Royal Albert Hall! Thanks for the info!

  • @amihol the version with Jack Casady 1968 available on Dagger records (18 minutes) is the best one, Band of Gyspsys (11 minutes) is wonderful too.

  • Another live Jimi gem I've listened to tons of times over the last 25-30 years and each time is as stunning as the first. Listen intently to this one because Jimi really takes you on a psychedelic rollercoaster through the South Saturn Delta before he brings it all back down to earth. The guitar sounds like it is time traveling hyperspace!

  • @HendrixFreakazoid

    Ha!

Great comment to match the Jimi masterclass.

The Hendrix concert comp is my fave Jimi ever.

These recordings never fail to blow the mind..

    We're so fuckin fortunate!

  • The editings good bro. Would you be so kind as to tell me where you got the first photo from?

  • @quatermas7 Thanks! As for the picture, just google "Jimi Hendrix Flying V" and it should be one of the first results.

  • Your face is a Stone Temple.

  • Nice! Like it!
