Thank you for your reply! It cheered me up and more when I saw Sweet Pea again. She is anamazing girl...and you see, those people who advised you to take her were right! I like the video, You can feel the love you put in making it!
I have a female kind of N.F.o but she is mixed, though she inherited all the traits of the race. She is 10 now and still adorable. Your Sweet Pea is a complete delight.
@kalchgrubernorma thank you for saying that. I totally agree. I loved that cat from the moment I laid eyes on her. She was laying in the cage at the animal shelter all nonchalant. she didn't have a care in the world. i'm sure her original owners didn't want to give her up, but it must have been some extenuating circumstances. I'm glad I found her. some jail workers (i know right) introduced me to her. i never imagined i would take advice from a jail worker, but they were dead on. she's a sweetie
Hello, I recently adopted a stray cat. She looks a lot like your cat but I am not sure if she is a Norwegian Forest Cat because she is kind of small. Would you mind if I sent you a picture of her so you could tell me if you think she is one or not?
SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I also had a grey and white NFC for 10 years named Furball. Unfortunatley, he had to be put down in July 2009 because he had kidney failure. I miss him. :(
@celicagts91 thank you. she is a doll. she never gave an ounce of trouble even when i brought her home from the animal shelter. she is fearless. she walked up to a big lab that tried to devour her a few minutes prior and sniffed his paws like what's up. she is smart as a whip. Although the scenario mentioned wasn't one of her finer moments. lol.
Sweet Pea is adorable. I adopted a large long haired Calico from a shelter. She must have either Maine Coon or NFC in her. She weighs 15 lbs and is not fat.
@toastedmonkee That is too funny. I'm still laughing because that sounds like Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea would dart up a tree by my apartment and then jump down on the neighbor's balcony. She was like a little cat burglar or something. I had to knock on the neighbor's door to get her back. I didn't know the neighbor by the way. She also would run like streak lightning chasing chipmunks and squirrels. I had to stop letting her out because another neighbor, a bird watcher, complained.
i can relate. Moe goes to the neighbors house, gets on the back deck so he can look in their kitchen window, and yowls until they let their cat out to hang with him. She's a little female about 1/3 his size, but they are best buddies, and he really watches over her. The neighbor told me about this. Quite funny. I also have a orange tabby Maine Coon mix, Murray, bigger than Moe with a very similar personality. It's neat to see people's reactions when they see 2 huge cats together.
Sweet Pea is gorgeous. You're blessed to have her. I found Moe in a shelter also. I recently got a orange tabby Maine Coon mix at the same shelter. Murray is bigger than Moe and also about 2 years. They get along great, very similar attitude. They get into everything, can open any door, even the fridge. Living in Canada, they both have huge winter coats right now. It's neat to see people drive by, stop, and point at two huge cats in the yard.
@toastedmonkee that is so funny. cats have such personalities. i think wegies are very intelligent. Sweet Pea is always the first to chase down a caterpillar or detect a visitor before they get to the door. when i get out the shower she rubs my legs and tries to dry me off even though she hates water and will fight to the death during a bath. she also kisses on command. keep the stories coming. i'm always game.
They are fun aren't they. Funny how they all differ. My two love water, sleep in the kitchen sink, drink from the faucet. There is a small brook behind my home, Moe loves to go there in summer and catch small fish and frogs. He'll probably share his fave place w/Murray come spring thaw. Peace,
hi i just wanted to let you know from one cat lover to another that we also have a norwegian forest cat and yours is really pretty and that is my favorite song from Evanesance. Marlene from california
My norwegian forest cat ran away.I found her after school when i saw boys hitting her. When they walked away, i took that cat and went home. I know that is stealing, but that cat was screaming for help!!! <;(
That is awesome you saved her. Hopefully karma will come back and those boys will get the same as they did to your beautiful puss cat. It is so great you rescued her. We need more people in the world like you.
I had a beautiful norwegian forest cat. Her name was Minni. I found her when i was going home from school, and boys were hitting her, kicking her and laughing about it. When they were gone, i went to that cat, and she was afraid. But i picked her up in my hands and petted her. Then i walked home with her. I know it could have had an owner, but that owner dont care about his/her cat. Some years later she ran away.( I started crying when i wrote this ;( ) It is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a saaaaaad story!
I also got my Norwegian Cat from the shelter. I just loved Jack's personality. The shelter he was at was a high kill shelter. Awful place. They gave me nothing but, in a way, they gave me my bestfriend. I love him so much. 7 years of laughter. Him being a Norwegian is a plus. I don't need any papers.
I'm not sure if I understand You well because English is my second language. What does "pedigreed" mean to You?
Do You have this doument called "pedigree"? Only a cat with document is pedigreed.A cat that looks very much like NFC but doesn't have a document is not a pedigreed cat.
I love my cat. I don't have documents, but it doesn't take a genius to know she is a pedigree cat. I have humane society friends who rescue pedigreed animals from the shelters all the time. I will always love my cat no matter what she is. She's a beauty. She's the sweetest cat ever. Her name fits her. I am liberal on free speech, so I'm entertaining your comments. But don't push it.
Don't get me wrong. I have moggies myself. One of them looks exactly like the Siamese but I don't call her Siamese because she doesnt have documented pedigree.
By definition, a pedigree cat is a cat whose ancestry can be traced back, cat by cat. This is very important for breeders who need documented informations to effectively chose mating partners.
I get your point. I chose my cat because a shelter hand recommended her. He said she was very affectionate even though she seemed shy. I wouldn't have even looked at her because she was an older cat and not a kitten. Boy am I glad I found her. She's my lucky charm. In America, if I cat has all the telltale signs of a breed, we call it that breed, irregardless of documents. I'm not trying to mate her. She's fixed. It's the law to get the cat fixed when she comes from the shelter.
In my country there's a plague of pseudo breeders who sell undocumented "breeds" on mass scale. Even though their cats are cheaper they usually exploit them to very limits. Tv reported such cases recently. That's why the public is informed not to buy "pedigrees" without pedigree. Ofcourse You adopted Your cat so it;'s not the case.
She loves this one, too. My cats love the kitty teases the best. Thank you for the compliment for the kitty. I'll be sure to pass it on. Happy Independence Day.
This cat is funny. She really delightful watch. She's not easy to photograph. She warms my heart.
