It's impossible for dub voice actors of any language to please the people who think True Art Is Foreign (which in this case is anyone who claims out of hand that the Japanese VAs are superior).

Funny thing is, I hear this works in reverse, too. Japanese Code Geass fans apparently find Johnny Young Bosch to be a better VA for Lelouch, as they've said that the original Japanse actor sounds too forced.

Things just sound better in a language not understood by the listener, I suppose.

To all the people who like tho argue over which is better, Japanese or English. Which you like more is a matter of preference, so there is no point arguing. However, there can be, to some extent, a definition of which is better based on ability. In this context, both voice-actors are on par with each other. They are both excellent actors, and serve to bring the character to life. That being said, though I love O'brien's portrayal, I think the Japanese seiyu better displays Lloyd's craziness.

@shadowstalker58 yeah, i get annoyed by this sub bias. i always ask people who blindly flame all dubs as being bad how exactly they can tell the Japanese voice overs are so much better. unless they speak the language fluently of course, its really hard to deem one form better than another. therefore, i check out both versions and decide for myself. all about variety. lol

I agree that the Japanese voice fits the character better. Just be glad they at least got somebody good this time around. As it goes, actually, the English voice cast of Code Geass is probably right near the top for all dubs. They have a good portion of the A-list here.
