Strange Portal Error

That makes this video proof that its Portal.

people only say its Gmod because Gmod has more errors when it comes to noobs who download content while half the required games are missing

This is a model issue - Idk why people are still commenting but when a model isn't found for an entity (invisible entity or not) it displays a ERROR model in its place. Check your game cache integrity.

I see this all the time in Portal 2 when using noclip - just a model they forgot to include in portal 2 maybe. In Portal 2 it's flashing blue.

@pixelbath this is caused because you doesn't download the game well or some stuff is damaged, every game of Steam shows a "ERROR" when some entity has no texture asociated and the pink and black square pattern is for the world textures (for example a wall) it solves easy, reinstall the game or validate the files (validating will re-download the damaged or inexistent ones)

Pink checkers are infamous in Source games, they represent missing textures. Happens if the level doesn't finish loading/ doesn't load quick enough.

dude this is so obvious what u have to do: enter the chamber and look to the left, there should be a giant error thing. Press e and pick it up. Put the error on the button. Now the door at the chamber opens.

@MrDarkdragon141 Actually it is the result of missing meshes, every game engine replaces a missing mesh with a kind of sign to notify the developers that there is a problem with the mesh.

If you haven't fixed it already, try right clicking on the game, clicking on properties, then on the local files tab, click "Verify integrity of game cache..." If that doesn't work then just reinstall the game... Hope I have helped! :)

the error messages tend to appear when the game is unable to render the model of a spawned object.

this usually happens when the console is used to spawn an enemy that was scripted, but doesn't have an ingame model as it was cut from the game.

all of the errors represent an entity. i tried spawning a zombie on portal for PS3 i got a big fat error sign like this and then 10 seconds later the game froze. Somthing is probably corrupt or was never intended to be fixed and been left alone

i believe the big red "ERROR" is when a necessary entity doesn't load. in this case, the glowing entity by you is the glow entity from the portal gun (which successfully loads) but the portal gun entity itself did not. :)

might want to have source check for file corruption.

That glow ball thing is from the Portal Gun, and you have to use the Dev. console and give yourself the Portal gun before you are supposed to get it. (Either through upgradeportalgun or whatever it is or impulse101) If you look at the gun, the hole in the middle is dark, when it is supposed to be glowing with the color of the recently used portal.

Hmm, I've never had the ERROR thing happen, but I have seen that glow.

What happened is that the light from the portal gun detached from its model and stuck to you. I fixed it by using the console to change to 3rd person, then back to 1st person.

Yes, I am fully willing to admit both games take place in the same game universe. To use an analogy: Star Wars: Battlefront, KOTOR, The Force Unleashed...they all take place in the same universe. Does that make them the same game? No.

They speak of the Borealis in Half Life 2 which I believe is shown on a security monitor with Aperture Science clearly printed on the side. Correct me if I'm wrong, I am only basing my knowledge off of what I remember from my completion of HL.
