  • its not only Makeup!!! they test on way more

  • OMG I was searching for a beauty guru that even slightly cares about this issue and then I found out your Aussie too!! fantastic!

  • good video!!!! thank you.

  • WOW :( this broke my heart to hear . i'm a huge animal lover > i couldn't listen past the eye irritant part .

  • LIKE this video SO MUCH. This has been on my mind for a long while.

I buy only cruelty-free makeup products myself but it's so disheartening to see how many Makeup/Beauty gurus out there don't even give it a second thought.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

  • awesome video, its great someone finally mentions it..i love your hair what color is it?

  • Thank you for the information. I think this is a very important issue. It is so terrible what happens to all the animals. How do you feel with your vegan diet? I am a vegetarian and I´m thinking of bekomming a vegan too.

  • I LOVE MAKEUP but! .. theres no fucking reason(sorry for cussing) they need to test on animals...i'd give up makeup completely if every company did

  • PS Nature's Gate is a great brand for body washes, hair care, hand wash, deodorant etc. Readily available at Priceline if you want to check it out.

  • I'm all about the cruelty free. If I can give anyone a tip for completely guilt free shopping, its to check the 'cruelty status' of the parent company that owns the brand. For e.g. one of The Body Shop's core messages is 'cruelty free', but they are owned by Loreal. Educating yourself is key!

So great to see a fellow Aussie making such great vids!

  • i'll look for "not tested on animals" label on products from now on...

  • I agree with you completely. I went shopping with my friends the other day and saw them looking at covergirl products, I informed them that covergirl tested on animals and I was shocked when they showed so little interest. Some people these days are so ignorant to animal testing. My friends thought animal testing was illegal everywhere and that PETA was a made up organisation! They may laugh at me when I pull them away from the cosmetics stand but I shop cruelty free

  • Great video. I have recently gotten into makeup (at the ripe old age of almost 40!) and then realized many of my fav. products test on animals, or are owned by companies that test. I've been using Lancome skin care for around 10-15 years but they are on the banned list (because they are owned by l'oreal) so I'm now on the search for new products - preferrably organic and vegan.

  • Your amazing! Wow, I totally agree with you! And was it hard for you to become a vegetarian? Could you do a video on how to become a vegetarian? (: thank you

  • im doing the not testing on animals cosmetic thing i got rid of alot of my makeup and am now going to buy crulety free makeup. I like your flower ring in this video by the way

  • This is a great video, I really hope more people watch it and it gets more people thinking about it. I have been vegetarian for 5 years, and only buy products that arent tested on animals. I think people think that one person cant make a difference, but I think we should all be aware of the cruelty behind the products we use.

  • this is off topic but what kind of camera do you use

  • I looked at the list of which companies do test on animals.. and I can't believe it. I also watched the video and I had NO idea it went to that extent.. I'm disgusted... I cant believe I use most of those brands. :'( I'll def. be spreading that video around and hopefully it will touch others just as it has done to me. thank you for making this video!

  • You are truly beautiful inside all the way out, Amy!! I'm a new subscriber & I absolutely love you & all your dazzling videos :)) I can't believe how much we have in common ~ It's heartwarming to find a fellow Makeup artist who not only has a passion for helping women but who cares deeply enough about the precious animals of this world & wants to shine that good light near & far to raise awareness about their suffering. You're such an angel ~ Oceans of happiness & love to you sweet soul : )

  • Lancome tests on animals.

  • Lancome test in animals.

  • I want your eyyyyyyes!

  • I still have some non cruelty free products that i got before i knew about animal testing. so im trying to switching all my products to cruelty free right now. it is so hard to research about which company is truely cruelty free. because some companies says theye don't tests but they are owned by other company who does tests on animals... but I belieave that more people get know about animal testing, company will make change!

  • Awesome video. I wish people would discuss this more than sweep it under the rug. I have a beagle and love pets. I've also been a vegetarian for over 6 years. I am not fully vegan but really try not to buy anything with animal by-products. If I ever eat eggs, I always buy cage-free, organic, vegetarian fed, for example.

  • That's sad I love animals I have 3 cats 1 dog 2 bunnies 1 bird and lots of fish

Thank you for making this video

  • What about informed and compassionate decisions about your purchases for the other areas of your consumption? Such as the environmental impacts of your costume jewelry? Or the people who are paid below minimum wage to assist in producing your clothes? If you aren't applying the very basic, simple belief of an informed and compassionate consumer decisions, then this video seems pretty pointless and hypocritical.

  • @nkiah good point, will look into it further. thanks for your feedback. :)

  • im so jealous of your accent!!! my goal in life is to move to Australia and develop an accent!

  • Great video! But you didn't talk about testing ingredients on animals or third party testing. Even though some product itself itsn't tested on animals, it's ingredients might be...And gossmakeupartist made a video recently about third party testing. But it is always great to make people think about this subject and choose a more animal-friendly products. And it is important to try to affect on companies and politicians. Too bad that I don't have an iphone so I can't get that app!

  • @armisoili thankyou! yeah I just saw that this morning, his video, it's fantastic! I'm pretty new to the whole thing, and I've really just started getting info on how it all works so when he pointed it out I was like HMMM good point. I'm definitely going to look into it more :)

  • you are seriously such an amazing girl! keep up the good work!

  • i was under the impression that inglott is cruelty free but cannot see iit listed!!!

  • @jesperhoney Inglot doesn't test on animals thankfully! :) Don't know how I would feel if they did :(

  • @amysass7 i knew i had read somewhere that they dont ....but had to check with you just to be sure ...i have started shoppin the make up that does not test on animals but using up what i have ....i think all girls should!!! its ridiculous to have animals suffer just so i or any other girl has a nice lipstick....its not a need!!

  • O and about that concealer I meant: "I still have a concealer from Maybelline though but when I finish it I will buy a new one..." but from a cruelty-free brand! Loved your vid x

  • I do not want to throw out these unfinished product because I did pay for them and I don't like wasting things... But I will never buy these products again! Thanks Amy, you really inspired me and I am on a Forum and I have made a topic about Animal Testing with your vid in it. I hope I can inspire a couple of people to do the same thing... Thanks, you are amazing!

  • Hey Amy! Since I have seen this vid I checked all my make-up and shampoo and stuff like that. My deodorant was from Fa (Schwarzkopf) so as soon as I finish it I will search for a cruelty-free alternative. Same for my shampoo from Head and Shoulders. I also had mascara from Maybelline but I already bought a new one from Essence, cruelty-free and a lot cheaper! I still have a concealer from Maybelline though but when I finish it I will buy a new one...

  • Thanks for this great video. I totally agree and am so pleased that just before Christmas I found a website that sells organic based/paraben free and non animal testing skincare and body care. Thanks for the stats and info. Great App x

  • yay! im so glad you talked about this!!! i work in a cosmetic department and sometimes i try to direct customers to PETA friendly brands, and often they really dont care and look at me like im weird. but some customers do care.i just think if more people were informed, things would change.... i stick to cover FX and smashbox which are some of the peta friendly brands. i look for the bunny logo on the box!!

  • Even if a company says they don't animal test, they can still get information from other companies that animal test in order to use the item in question in their products.

  • although i agree with everything you have said,

in my opinion, i think that a product that has been tested on animals have a greater chance of your product and money that are spent to be worth your money...

its funny because my class was debating about this the other day.

animal testing also improves medication. most of the medications and product probably could of had never been developed without the help of animal testing.

some actually quoted "animal testing saved more human lives than 911"

  • Yes, I was looking into the companies that do test on animals.

     It's sickening.

I do think its really unnecessary since soo much "testing" has been done already.

And yes! We are so advanced now, theres no need to do this!

I posted this on my facebook.

  • I have done this for 7 years :) I also have been a vegan for about a year and a half, and I have been a vegetarian for about 3 years. I am really young, younger than you. I am sooo glad you did this! Thank you, and you are now my favorite youtube guru.

  • I watched the video you linked to by PETA and i cried. Shame on you L'Oreal.

  • Does the app on your phone tell you which companies use ingredients that are tested on animals? Because I read somewhere that even if a product says it's not tested on animals, they still could have tested on animals for their beginning steps to making the product, but the final product itself isn't tested on animals, so they still get to make the claim that the product wasn't tested on animals.

  • Hey i wanna turn vegetarian soon, but i dont know how to start, because im also planning to adopt a vegan diet as well cuz i dont eat cheese or eggs or honey anyway. Can you give me some tips on how you started becoming vegetarian?

  • @oxoxGENxoxo It was a pretty easy transition, but you just need to be really organised and dedicate time to make meals in advance. I'm literally powered by Tofu! :) A lot of fast food and convenience food places don't cater for vegans so you have to be organised basically :D

  • you know guys, even if nothing happens to the animal during the testing, they kill them anyway.

  • @evershield very true :(

  • grats on your veganism!

  • the ammount of cuts in this video is pretty annoying

  • @leglaw6 Thanks for your feedback! Sometimes I tend to ramble and can't string together sentences with going completely off topic and then forgetting what I am trying to say so I thought I'd do to the point, quick facts. Will keep it in mind for next time :)

  • THANK YOU!! Finally someone that mentions it!!!!!!

  • You're amazing! Thank you for this well educated video.

  • Great job! Im going to checkout the iPhone App right now.

  • Who would dislike this video? thank you for making it.

  • you deserve more subscribers.

your so classy & amazing & beautiful.

    hands down.

  • I never really thought about it before, I just thought it was fine and I guess I never really thought about it.. great video, I'll definetly think twice before buying animal tested products again!

  • Well done for speaking up. We as consumers have the ultimate say with companies. If we all just stop buying products from companies that test on animals then they will have to change their policies. We have a moral responsibility to use our purchasing power wisely, animal testing has no place in the world today even for so say medical research as humans are genetically different so any 'results' are flawed anyway.Education is the key, well done Amy xx

  • To be honest, I know this may still sound really cruel, but I would only agree with animal testing if it was for medical research given certain circumstances. :S

  • That video made me cry. :'(

  • I've been a vegetarian for just over 2 years and I never buy/use products that have been tested on animals. I love animals more than anything and to think of the suffering they go through is just disgusting and so heartbreaking. I can't believe it still goes on when, like you said, there are so many other more humane ways of testing products. Thanks for the video and informing more people about it :)

  • thanks so much for making this video!!

  • Good job!! Your video and passion for animals are really inspiring. most of the brands mentioned on the cruelty free lists are not for sale here (holland). so I looked up our own list. It's also for sale for 2,50 euros (by a non profit organisation,), i bought it so i can take it with me to the drugstore.

I'm shocked by how many bad (cruel) products i use.

  • I'm a vegan! :) Although I did eat chicken mcnugget's last May, but before that I had been meat free since 2003! How do we know for sure though what goes on in the labs after hours and perhaps at undisclosed locations? Couldn't they be testing on animals behind our backs? :( Great Video! :)

  • <333333333

  • I havnt used any products tested on animals in a year, and I'm vegetarian too. Its great that your going vegan. I was for a really long time, but I'm not now. I really want to go back to being one, so I am trying it again. Good luck, the hardest part is not getting the support you need. That's what caused me to change back to just vegetarian.

  • @elfgirl0 I do get a little alienation regarding it with some friend and family, but most people are pretty supportive and intrigued by it. Just do what you can :)

  • very very cool! love the app!!

  • I love animals beyond words and the thought of them suffering just totally breaks my heart :-(( thank you for speaking up Amy xx

  • You are a guru who DESERVES wayyyyyy more viewers and subscribers. You are knowledgeable and support your opinions with facts. It is hard for people to actually support their opinions with fact not emotion. I'm really impressed with this video.

  • @annalovesu412 I am very impressed too. Such a mature and kind personality. Love this girl.

  • However, I make beauty videos as well, and I will not be promoting or using any of these products on YouTube. Do you think that is ok?

  • I have recently adopted a vegan diet and I am going cruelty free with my personal care and cosmetic products as well. I think, however, that I will keep the products I have from companies that test on animals, and just not repurchase them. My stand on this is that I have already supported the companies by buying the product (before I was educated on the horrors of animal testing), and it would be wasteful, in my opinion, to throw them out.

  • @VintageNovateur Yeah! My next video is going to detail my thoughts on how to clear out and be aware of who does and doesn't test. I like to really research before I buy something but sometimes you get caught out and find out a company does :( it sucks

  • @amysass7 Great! Thanks so much. I am planning on making a video about my stand on animal testing as well. I think I will video response it to this video if you don't mind! Looking forward to your next video :)

  • I'm definately joining this! I can't stand the thought of little animals being tortured:(

  • Good job on this, people can sometimes be so terribly misinformed. A company can basically get away with anything whether it's cosmetics, clothing, food. They can say such things as "This FINISHED product not tested on animals" which means anything before hand could've been, or they can even have another company on the side testing for them so that they're not forced to label it on their products. Their parent company can test so on and so forth..it's a wide subject.

  • @makeuptemptations Yeah I've heard Avon has a similar situation to what you mentioned.

  • Thank you for doing this video! My mom is a Vegan and has raised me a Vegan my whole life (23 now and still going strong). There are a lot of companies who don't test on animals compared to ones that do but we need to get the big parent companies like proctor and gamble, etc. to change there testing policies which is why I don't use any products by any companies unless there Vegan and not owned by a parent company that tests on animals.

  • @alib8831 wow, that's amazing! I'd love to raise my kids * one day haha * as vegans so you & your mum are an inspiration. :)

  • I LOVE this video! I have been against animal testing since i was like 10 years old. I have a major soft spot for all animals. So glad you did this video! I am so glad you did this. I did a speech on animal testing when I was in sixth grade lol

  • Can I just say I have been waiting for you to talk about this! I have been cruelty free for a year now and believe me it is easier than many of you may think. Yes there are brands that I was sad to say goodbye to, and at first I thought I would be buying products from weird random brands, but seriously there are soooooo many high end/ not able brands that are Peta approved cruelty free! MAC, Urban Decay, Revlon, Clinque, Estee Lauder, Gosh, Hard Candy, NYX, I could keep going!

  • @ewok9987 Yeah it's amazing, how easy it is. However vegan makeup products, is a little trickier but I'm looking into it. :D

  • Omg, I seriously had a wonderful plan and said "I'll become a cruelty free beauty guru who only buys and uses vegan makeup, because I've never seen a guru do that before, and people need to speak up!" So I guess we had the same idea...but this is great! thank you!

  • @sleepylacepaws aww definitely still do it, if you want. Needs to be more of us out there, talking :)

  • This was really inspiring! I have a couple of L'oreal, Johnson&Johnson, Procter&Gamble, Schwarzkopf,... products. I don't know what to do with them. I'm not going to buy them again. But it's such a waste to trow out a new bottle of head and shoulders shampoo... I'm in doubt! I need a new shampoo brand, any tips?

  • Yes! High five for this one girl!<33

  • You rock!! I love how you speak up! And I love your hair :O

  • I've also been looking into this as well as I hate the thoughts of an animal dying& tormented just so I can have a good mascara etc. However some of the research I did showed that PETAs website may not be that accurate with regards what companies do and don't test on animals. Just thought I would share my thoughts! Great vid as always :)

  • This is a very important topic to talk about! I think its wonderful that you're spreading the word about animal testing! When I go into a store I always ask myself the same question, is this tested on animals, The app you showed us is very helpful! I know of a lot of cosmetic lines who do test on animals and I try to stay awayu from them!

  • Thankyou Amy for speaking out when most won't, hopefully the whole beauty community gets on board! This is such an important issue!

  • Wait humans are animals. Why aren't we being testing on instead?

  • I totally support cruelty free products. Good on ya for speaking out hun! Xoxo

  • this makes me sad :( poor animals

  • Congrats on being a vegetarian I hope to one day follow your choice

  • Very good you speak it out... =) I hope you and all of your followers will get something done ;) Good luck.

  • I did a speech on animal testing and got in the top 4

  • your skin is looking sooo good Amy! :)

  • Great video Amy I think this is a really important issue, I go organic wherever possible especially with skincare which helps because organic companies tend to be much more resposible both environmentally and with their ingredient use, I am waiting for my new iphone and will be loading the PETA app shortly! I am from the uk but I love Inika which is an autralian brand.

  • sorry for my terrible spelling :P it is ment to be foot steps and stop using those products.

  • i am so following your dont steps. This is such a huge cause that does need to be addressed on the beauty comunity and i am so gonna in throw my makeup and swor using what has been tested on animals or that purports testing on animals.

  • clinique test on animals

  • @dollymaaay no they don't ...they have a whole page on their website talking about that they don't....

  • Great video, it definitely needs to be spoken about.
