Thank you, I call The South Shore "My Baby". There is a film I made called "The South Shore of the 1970's" available on e-bay. Glad you liked the clip
Thank you, glad you liked it. Yes it is Kennsington 115th St and yes you can get the South Shore there WB or EB. The SSL has limited stops on Metra electric into Chicago. That's the way it's been since '26.
Again great video. I once in awhile would jump on the Metra at 93rd and ride into Downtown. I was relaxing and get to see all the real neighborhoods of Chicagos Southside.
I haven't rode the new bi-levels yet! I have to do this soon!

@css903 I have a copy of that video. Great footage if not for the cheesy background swing music. lol

Glad you liked it, I plan on more when I am home visiting my folks in July. Maybe a cab ride from Hegewisch east?

God I miss riding the Chicago/Indiana rails... Clearly not the same on the NE... Love the horn action and the Kensington approach is insane...

At the start of the video, it looks like Atlas 3 rail track.

That's a gaunlet track to let freights not hit the platform
css903 2 years ago
Yes it is a gaunlet, it's so the passenger cars are next to the platform and the freight has clearance
