I was thinkin bout puttin this on my rancher 420 but one of my friends sed it wasnt really a major difference on his 420, i have hmf pipe and uni airfilter and a snorkel kit, id be buyin one but ive heard lame reviews and its expensive for somethin that really wont be a big upgrade in power
@hyfrSilaz71 We suggest the Optimizer only for machines running an open or free flow air box. If you intend on leaving the air box lid on it is likely that you will not need an Optimizer.
i bought a hmf sport series slip-on for my 2007 raptor 700R SE and was thinking about getting this optimizer unit.... my question is when i order it for a 07 raptor 700 will it already be pre-set to the recommended 4-4-5 settings?... and can i also reprogram it while im driving ?
@goldcivic21 All HMF Optimizers come pre-programmed with the proper settings, so yes you'd be able to plug it right in and take off. You can make changes while you're riding, but you'll have to have be off the machine.
i recently purchased an hmf exhaust and an hmf programmer, for my 2010 honda 420 rancher(sra). i was wondering if the optimizer already comes preset for the bike or will i have to set it myself and if so could u tell me the correct settings for my bike, i will be using it with an hmf exhaust. thanks...
@TINACAZ Your HMF Optimizer will come pre-programmed for your machine. If you are having issues with these settings, you can always contact us directly. We have our Recommended Settings on our website. Search "Honda Rancher 420", and on the exhaust's page, Click on the "Jetting" tab.
i've been reading alittle bit about this hmf optimizer and alot of people are haveing a hard time setting it up right and say how lousy there support service is...in the end alot of people say just spend the extra money getting a power commander and have it dyno tested...my question, why is there such a problem with this mod? and why dont u (the company) have the answers?
It depends on the machine it's running on. The Optimizer sets the air and fuel mixture properly to get the best performance out of your HMF exhaust. Not running the proper settings can damage the exhaust and motor. Running an HMF exhaust without the proper jetting voids the warranty.

Does the optimizer come with the exhaust when you buy it and do you need an optimizer if it is a slip-on? Thanks.

@19mudbogger98 The Optimizer is sold separately.

Once you remap, can you remove this thing? I don't want a $250 "not waterproof" electrical device bouncing around on my quad.
justaguyX74NJ 2 years ago
The Optimizer needs to stay installed. Most people velcro it to the inside wall of the air box where it will stay cool and dry.

its for quads that have EFI, when you install a new exhaust you need to remap the fuel to air ratio, this unit does that.
