I was surfing the web to get some idea of how common this problem is and ran into your post. Hats off to you guys. Such a simple solution to what was a very complex repair. We'll be contacting you this morning. Our local dealer just quoted us $8700. We owe you many thanks.
I really like BMW I don't buy it just because of all of them have problems u need to spend money to drive BMW when u even buy brand new by the time u reach 50k u will c u spent a lot of money on it that's why I buy only Mercedes I had C and E class with more than 240k still running strong no problem only changed waterpump on c for around $300 I love MB they run for ever BMW has engine problems on all models they suck :(
@profesorborat This is sometimes true. BMWs are more hit-and-miss than MBs and Porsche when it comes to durability. Still, I have friends who have nearly trouble-free E46 330is, and the E90/92 M3 has shown to be very reliable. I do think that there is evidence of cost-cutting in the wrong areas in certain BMWs. They are so focused on performance efficiency that some times they forget to engineer some durability into certain components.
@melody2484 Thank you for your quick response. On average what do you charge for this repair on the E65 2002? I know you can't be exact and I won't quote you I'm just trying to get an idea. Thank you!
dealers in Us really charge around 9000 dollars for that plastic seal replacement? is it a joke or so? you can get a whole new engine for that price here in europe.. no doubt dealers are better known as STEALERS..
@trijjj Fukin Thieves! i am very impressed at the solution the guys at All German came up with! That is using the noggin! I was about to buy a 7 series, Im gonna rethink that now.
I´m german and I´m ashamed what today´s technology is.... what a bullshit.
What is next ? A coolant line through a piston with a cheewinggumm seal ?
And when new, that car is so expensive... BMW´s engineers should quit and sell salad in a supermarket. Why using a tube inside the engine instead a hose around it ? Answer: money
BMW Company purposely made mistake because AllGermanCars is Relative With Bimmer Company, and they wont him to be little more rich by selling this tube, He should be on Jay Leno 'Pitch To America' lol
That was the slickest thing I have seen THUS far...Way to go All German Auto!!!!.....Hey what is the name of the guy hosting???...He is HELLA cute....& I LOOOVE his accent. I would bang him in a heartbeat!!!
I have a 86 735i vert, everything is good until I reach about 3800 rpm's then the engine has a power loss and fire. I have checked the fuel pressure regulator, the full throttle switch the mass air flow sensor crankshaft sensor ,coil spark plug, coil wire, distiboters, no luck so far, any ideas on what I should do next....rep me please thxxx
Was this part extensively tested in the real world? E.g. seeing that you have to screw it in, I wonder if it would eventualy come loose with normal engine vibration etc.
That is amazing, I was a BMW tech for about 6 years, I love the cars, hated flawed designs like those tubes. You guys should be very proud of your selves.

Some of the information provided here is incorrect. The cylinder heads, valve covers and timing chain do not have to be removed to install the OEM part. And there wouldn't be 2-3 weeks of downtime. It can be done in two days.
@jrice4069 Your wrong and you dont know what you are talking about. You do have to remove said parts and the dealer takes your engine out to do the repair.
@melody2484 Actually, I do know what I'm talking about. The upper and lower timing case covers on the N62 can be removed without removing, the heads, oil pan or even valve covers. Only the fasteners that thread into these components need to be removed. I have done this repair multiple times with no issue. The coolant pipe described in the video is an ingenious product - I'm just simply pointing out that some of the things said on the video are not true.
@AllGermanAuto hi there you guys seem very good at what you do! iv got a 1994 e34 m5 3.8 and i need to change my antifreeze/coolant i sure these systems need bleeding dont they? also do you know where the bleed nipple/screw is many thanks :)
What a terrible engine design. The bmw engineer who designed this engine couldn't take the extra 5 minutes to make a collapsible pipe? Its almost like they wanted it to be such a costly pain in the ass all over a 5 dollar rubber seal.
So if left unattended can the coolant leak into the engine oil? Or does it simply leak out of the engine block? I love how BMW call out such high numbers like it's absolutely nothing. Guess that comes with the territory of owning a premium car like such.
Neat. I'm anguishing over whether to buy a recent Jag V8 or a clean E38. I'm still on the fence. I can't stand the looks of the Bangle 7s, so that's out.
For this vid, I would have liked to have seen the step where you cleaned the metal shaving and dust out of the valley. It's visible later that you did clean it, but it would have been cooler to see either cleaning it out, or even better vacuuming the dust while cutting, my personal favorite trick.
My uncle Alex recently ordered this part and had it shipped up here to Vancouver, Canada. As far as I know. All German Auto is the only company in the world to manufacture such a pipe. We had it installed as per the video's instructions and the car is running perfectly. No leaks, nothing. This is a HUGE cost advantage. The service and rapid shipment from AGA was nothing short of exceptional!
firstly really great solution but, its in an area thats under constant vibration would the threads not loosen over time if they are not locked in some way , i work in maintenancein a pharmaceutical plant and we couldnt used something like that because in an area under vibration the threads would work loose over time and leak ??????
I am from Munich, I have a 745 and it had this Problem 6 months ago. The car was 3 weeks at BMW. Thanks god I had a warranty!! But in our BMW 7 I-net Forum we all look very interessted on your Vid and this Invention.Just great!!!!! I am sure you will get order from Germany.

The coolant pipe applies to certain BMW N62 engines. It applies to 2004-2006 BMW X5 4.4i and 4.8is (E53) as well as the 2007-2010 BMW X5 4.8i (E70).
