  • im a huge fan of the turbo i got an 08 nytro with mc xpress staqe two on 50/50 avgas/pumpgas with 153x2 camoplast and it has never failed me i dont run out of sled i run out of mountain we ride in cooke city montana (been know for the best riding in the usa) supercharger dfinatly gonna have better throttle responce i get bad turbo lag if i dont run my mixture right but id still rather have my turbo something baout when that boost gauge hits 16 pounds on a long uphill pull that gets a guy going

  • the superchareger is better for throtle response because the horse power goes right iff the start and the turbo it takes tine for the turbines in the turbo to kick in

  • even as a diehard cat man i wouldnt touch a z1 turbo who ever came up with that idea for a motor should have been fired 2 pistons that are at tdc at the same time they will definitly fall apart they should have done a yamaha and put the hyabusa motor in been partnered with suzuki for ever 180 hp with no turbo hopefully they get it together cause i want a four stroke

    Most 4 Cyls have 2 pistons at TDC. Just not both TDC compression stroke. The engine will not fall apart.

  • four strokes are useless unless you plan on turboing the thing. I'd rather take a CF or M1000 and throw a Y-pipe on it and boondocker and have a decent sled that didn't cost me a fortune to grab ponies.

  • Alot of people think that yamaha were first with 4-stroke snowmobiles. But infact arctic cat was first with their 660 4-stroke touring :)

    But i cant argue on that yamaha has the best result with 4-stroke so far. :)

  • @spencersmyname yamaha wasn't the first manufacturer to come out with a four-stroke sled, arctic crap was sadly. Yamaha just picked up what Cat left off and advanced on it making the best four-stroke sleds known today

    And in 1962 when Yammie came out with 2-Stroke oil injection everyone copied them.

    And in 1978 when Yamaha came out with a Liquid Cooled 2-Stroke everyone copied them again.

  • hope you dont mean arctic cat by that comment.. they had so many problems with the z1 turbo's the first year that it nullified how good the sled could have been.. nearly 45% of those sleds that came out of the factory had a hard time getting over 100mph, the rest of them ran top notch and set records all over the place.. there were numerous recalls for that sled and they better get it together by next season

  • yes they do hold the record.. but only about half of them that came out of the factory ran like that one that set the record, rest of em were horrible motor-wise.. and they hold the record because they are the only performance 4 stroke with a turbo out of the factory... once a yamaha is turbo'd, they hold almost every other 4 stroke record for speed and ET that has been offered

  • I don't own one personally but from what I understand, the turbo makes more power but the supercharger is much more responsive/rideable.

  • Yes, except for the Impulse Turbo. It has both immediate throttle response and more power. Also, it's much lighter and the weight is more balanced.

  • You know your stuff, not to many other people are very educated on snowmobiles, let alone turbos, although most of them consider themselves experts. Theres alot of idoits on you tube who think they know snowmobiles.

  • @CCMVECTOR52 no....top fuel dragsters use super chargers cause of the turbo lag, they are after acceleration after all....plus there are dozens of competitive dragsters that run turbos, some of them making as much as 1900hp

  • Yeah the supercharges have no lag , there power is instant, but the turbo chargers put out quite a bit more horse power.

  • @canuck527 i ride both my boss owns mountains edge in sundre ab canada and we build turbo and supercharged units i personaly like the supercharger because of the relability they run cooler and if you blow some thing in your super charger you can tale the belt off of it and still be able to ride your sled out and back to the shop turbo sleds have more top end a turbo can make more power because it runs off your

  • i work for mountains edge in sundre ab canada and be build both turbos and superchargers a turbo runs off your engines waste (exhaust) as where a supercharger runs off your crank which is just more for your engine to start to turn they are both amazing though once you have rode something with boost you wont go back i like the supercharger more because if something goes wrong with it just tale the belt off the charger and you can still ride it back out they both are insane ......GOT BOOST!!
