  • I still have this same problem - - has anyone found the fix???

  • Hey man I just replaced the PSU and case for my gateway sx 2802... I can't figure out how to hook up the header pins... there's no explanation for which one does what. How'd you get it into a new case? I can't find mobo/pin diagrams anywhere.

  • @StrixVarius The headers are labeled on the mobo. USB1, USB2, 1394 (firewire), etc. the new case should have come with labeling or instructions for which wire goes where. check this page frontx.com/cpx101_2.html for the standard USB pinout, and this one for firewire frontx.com/cpx105_2.html. I did not hook up the header that had the picture viewer button connected to it, I think it was a USB header with extra pins? Not sure, the header was a different color in the old case. sorry cant post links

  • My wifes computer has the same issue. Some people have reported that if you disable the on-board USB ports and install an add-on USB card it resolves the issue. I might attempt to do this on ours, I just need to find a good/small PCI-E USB card to install.

  • is the hard drive, it goes in sleep mode, you need restart it, then it will play correctly your videos.

  • I have the exact same problem with the exact same machine (also from Newegg!) - how did you eventually resolve it?

  • @StrixVarius I am 90% sure it was the power supply. The hard drive died, and while it was down I swapped the components to a micro atx case that uses a standard power supply. The lack of airflow is what caused the HDD to go. That just gave me the reason to open it again. Anyway, after a new P/S and HDD it hasn't missed a beat. I used a backup image from a prior install, so it definitely wasn't a corrupted OS like Acer kept trying to tell me.

  • @loony1032 I just ordered a replacement PSU and Mini ATX case (instead of waiting a month for Acer/Gateway to fix the stupid thing, and paying one-way shipping, etc) - is yours still running smoothly?

  • my bro just bought a gateway computer and the taskbar at the botom or any menu doesnt even pop up!?!?

  • maybe its the monitor(if it has built in speakers) or the speakers?

  • its your motherboard the audio card is causeing the problem..need to replace the mother board

  • I've just ordered the SX2802-07 model, I'm so scared. Its coming in 6 days =(

  • I hoped you still have it, Ive been working with PC's for a while now. And I had this problem in the past. Try these

    1. Switching out the memory, Sometimes the memory crashes.

    2. Rearrange the boot order.

    3. If you haven't - Try Reinstalling the OS, Or try a different OS

    4. Downgrade to Xp,

    5. Go to BIOS and check memory setting (Overclocking and so on)

    6. If all fails, Its maybe a bad motherboard. Buy a new one.

  • what hapened with your comouter????

i was about to buy this computer!!..

    did you fix it?

so it snot good i need a good computer to work with photoshop

  • @justRonney I have not figured it out yet. It is currently back at the repair depot. When it does work it is great, and would be awesome for Photoshop. I think I got a rare bad one looking at other peoples' reviews. The only thing I would do differently is buy it from a local retailer where you can return it if needed. Costco has a similar one (4gig ram 750gb hdd) and has a 90 day return policy. Unfortunately I got this from newegg who has a no return policy and had none in stock for an exchange
