Meu Deus ... essa música toca na minha alma bem lá no fundo e traz de volta a mesma sensação de descobrimento de sentimentos quando eu ouvia ela pela primeira vez. My God, this music touches my soul deep inside and bring back the same sensations of discovering feelings when I was hearing it for the first time ...
I've played almost all FF's at least 3 times, FF7 over 15 times, FF8 about 6 or 7 times,FF9 twice, FF12 about 4 or 5 times, All I can say is I love them all, FF7 being one of my all time fave games. The creator of FF said that FF9 was the only game to come close to being like his dream of what Final Fantasy is!
I absolutely love the music in all the final fantasy games, they always capture the moment, always put you on the edge of your seat or force a tear or 2 at strong moments in the story!
FFIX is worth playing, in my honest opinion, simply for the change in style/age of music. While the rest of the non-NES FFs (VII~X, XII) tries to be as modern as they can, the refreshing medieval theme of IX is just beyond words. Also, the choice of instruments just brings you this whole feeling that you're actually in another world rather than the usual modern music which doesn't strike me as much different than what we hear in that era anyways.
You dissapoint me now... you didn't include You're Not Alone. so much of the rest of the game's great music, but not the game's definate Crowning Music of Awesome?
ahh... a FF i know well. the only flaw i can point out in the game is maybe zidane's looks, but that's splitting hairs. This makes me want to play FF9 all over again, just for the music:)
I think FF9 is one of the best FF ever done. It has a magic, art, humor and honesty the other FF don't have IMO (except maybe FF6). It has the best soundtrack with FF6 (FF8 and FF7 soundtrack aren't as good, sorry *even if FF7 has 3 of Uematsu best songs, the rest never touched me as much... I often get the feeling people praise FF7's OST just because of the story... which is stupid*... and FF10's is my least fav OST of the series)...
However, the battles are slow, it's the only bad point.
FF IX is without a doubt, one of my most favorite FF games ever. Sure its not as good as FF VI, but then again, no FF is as good as VI. The characters in this game are so freakin' loveable that you just have to play all the way through. The music is incredible, the atmosphere is incredible, the graphics are incredible, the game is easily a 9.5 or higher. Never will forget when Zidane grabbed Garnet's butt and said "ohh soft"......LOL and of course Garnet (Dagger) got pissed. Great game.
Ahhh, Final Fantasy IX. Great storyline, wonderful characters, fun minigames, an actual good stealing ability, and a beautiful translation. This was my favorite FF game until I played FFXII.
This game was great. Not my favorite, but it had more emotional "layers" (if you will) with its music and design and...I dunno, the game just feels "classier" than most of the other titles.
Anyone know the name of the song at 6:00 and 9:00 (same song, different versions)?
I'd have to say that Final Fantasy IX is by far my favorite Final Fantasy game. The characters can get you right in the heartstrings.
You have to really feel for Zidane, Dagger, and Vivi during most parts of the game. Sure, the characters like Steiner and Freya could be more fleshed out, and Quina seems random as heck, but that occurs in all story intensive video games. You have your main characters, and you have your supporting characters.
I was so happy with Final Fantasy IX. It was the best I've played since Final Fantasy V and VI. The music for FFIX isn't as 'epic orchestra' as we heard in FFVII and FFVIII, however it was a nice upbeat change and the game play / story line so much more interesting. FFIX will always be one of my top 3 FF games and soundtracks.
I just recently beat FFX, and I can definitely see what everyone likes about the game...so many things, really. The sphere system is really cool, with so many different routes. Kimahri was my strongest dude, better black mage than Lulu by the end (short cutted through Wakka's grid, after getting steal and use)
Braska's Final Aeon was a TOUGH fight! I had to eventually give it up and level grind
FFlV for DS is one of the next games I want to get (among many, chronotrigger's up there, too)
I'd recommend the PSX version of FFIV over the DS version, but the DS version isn't bad. I think the translation is a bit worse and there's even more grinding in the DS version.
That's what I needed to hear! Spend more cash on vidja games! At least FFlV is about $30, now...one of my buddies has all of the 32 bit FFs, so maybe I'll just suck up to him if I really have to play them.
Thanks, though, seriously - I love retro games, so that'll be an easy buy, for me...it'll have to be the last game for a while, though, as Little King's Story is sure to grab my attention.
So, what's hard as hell? If I got to Braska's Final Aeon in FFX without any help, dya think I'm good?
Thanks, gar...well, I might have to go back and snatch up FFlX. I'd like to see what the 32bit FFs were like. I'm with you on FFVl, that game was sick! I played through most of it on an emulator a while back and loved every second of it...Kefka was badass. The turning point at the middle of the game blew me away - that's when I found out who was running the show. Some of the bosses in that game were tough as nails, like the ghost guy and the magic user at the top of that tower.
Such a wonderful and underrated final fantasy game (compared to the others in the series). I loved the soundtrack so much when I first played the game that I imported the soundtrack from Japan, my first ever game soundtrack =)
Thanks again, Garudoh - I'm a subscriber, I love your vids. I wish more people knew about your videos, as they're great tributes to a ton of great games.
Got a question for ya: what's your favourite final fantasy? Also, I saw FFlX at a store not that long ago for $30...do you think I should go back and get it? I've heard it's good, but I'd like your professional opinion, seeing as how I can get good, new games for around $20, now (patience pays off! Burnout and Orange Box are cheap)
FFVI is my favorite, but it barely inches out FFX and FFIV. Those three are awesome in my book, but really, I've enjoyed all of them.
FFIX, like the one before it, seems more divisive than the rest of the games, but I thought it was fun. I can't say the plot grabbed me by the gonads, but I remember enjoying the leveling/skills system quite a bit.
That being said, all 3 games you brought up are worth it. Go with whatever you're in the mood these days (RPG/driving/shooter) and you're good.
You've just listed my top 3 FF games, with me being the opposite; FFX barely inches out FFVI(The voice acting is probably an unfair advantage as far as storytelling goes) No suprise that I think those 3 had the best music as well.
Been enjoying your videos for a while now until YouTube had to go and screw with the playlists( I would throw on a playlist while studying).
@garudoh Actually, I saw it going back to the roots of Final Fantasy, Fantasy Era, One Job the Whole Game, Leveling Up with Experience, Classic Final Fantasy Characters, etc. Then again everyone has their own opinion. Not to say I don't like VI or X.
To supplement my previous comment, I must say that the music in this game is gorgeous. I don't particularly like the gameplay or story of FFIX, but I could listen to the soundtrack all day long.
In just hearing the title screen song (which is gorgeous and definitely a fave) you can tell that this game was going to be quite an adventure that touches on that old school FF feel. Oh yes... there will be Black Mages, White Mages, Thieves, Dragoons (Freya's theme is another lovely piece)... It's just such a cool and endearing OST. :D
And who can possibly hate such a cutie-pie like Vivi? XD
I love Final Fantasy IX, and I love it's music. You're not Alone is by far my most favorite Video Game Song

The song starting at 2:40 is one of the BEST songs in the entire game!
The song at 7:50 is freakin' incredible too!
Too bad "You're Not Alone" isn't included. It may very well be the #1 song in this game.
