The Government is also responsible for keeping us safe from threats, both foreign, and domestic. This is our military and our police. The Fire Departments and Police stations are part of the original governmental structure to keep us safe. In return, we pay the taxes necessary to keep them running.

FDR had a "doing something even if it's wrong" philosophy to the Depression. I'm not saying a Republican would have been better, just that FDR could have been. For example, we would have come out of the Depression earlier had he not reversed his position in (about) 1930 and raised taxes again. And Obama not as experienced as FDR was.

No. Jedi have nothing to do with the analogy except that they happen to be in Star Wars. Palpatine's parallel is Obama. The the Galactic Republic is the parallel of our government. Palpatine insisted that he could ensure the safety and security of the Republic, but only if the citizens of the Republic gave up more of their individual freedoms, and gave more power to the central government and its leader (Palpatine).

The Government is also responsible for keeping us safe from threats, both foreign, and domestic. This is our military and our police. The Fire Departments and Police stations are part of the original governmental structure to keep us safe. In return, we pay the taxes necessary to keep them running.

Once the damn insurance companies saw that it's costing them a butload, they found a loop hole and basically bankrupted my grandfather because he forgot to list that he got the flu in the last 5 years. The economy is improving by all indications, and we are slowly recovering our international respect that was destroyed by the criminal Bush regime. The true facts are that "healthcare for all" has very little to do with healthcare and so much to do with backroom deals, corruption and putting between us the people and our doctors tens of thousand of bureaucrats who will basically dictate what treatment we are entitled to and what not. @uspatriot327 Frankly I don't give a damn what alleged "backroom" deals had to happen to bribe animal conservatives to provide healthcare to the people. I'm an attorney here in California and I've read the pertinent sections of the new law. The fact is that most of the country will now have affordable healthcare. Hell, for this feat I wouldn't care if we bribed Old Bin Laden for it. Yes, I know many Europeans and they mock us for just barely catching up to them now.

Obama is running a deficit in his 15 months alone that's more than 4 times of what Bush did in his entire 8 years. When the unemployment was 6% - the media were pounding on the table. @uspatriot327 Just about every country in the world respects us more, including each of those countries you listed. One of the most important countries to respect us more is both China and Russia. Criminal Bush had us on the verge of a new arms race with Russia and loaded Russian nuclear bombers were flying off the eastern seaboard (prone to having an accident). Many hotels/restraunts would not EVEN SERVE U.S. citizens during Bush's criminal regime. You don't travel though, do you? Or read?

@Cordero787 I for one prefer the gap, it isn't as if a person cannot move up cash wise. Generally, if they have a lack of cash, it is their own fault. (I.e. crap grades in school, drug addiction, etc.) I don't want my money going to misfits. I'd rather it fund a child's schooling. Or to fix a pothole in a road. Or to keep state and religion seperate.

At the end of republican rule we had a 1 billion deficit, and may I add that current debt trends began with Ronald Reagan + Obama's plan is expected to reduce the deficit in the next 10 yrs. so is that an argument you really want to make? I would also like to add that ALL other western democracies have Universal Care except us, and they're still standing, they're happier than us, and they're economies are stronger.

First of all, we have cut spending on the illegal war in Iraq and are starting to spend on our own people.
