Hey man cool army im thinking about geting Necron too do you think you could tell me or where I could find the old Necron codex the one that you where on about I cant find it on ebay do you think you could send me some scans plz if you could.
@aaronman2216 That is completly between you and your opponent. According to the "official" rules, no, but the rules also allow for players to agree on things like that between themselves. Using models to represent another model is called using a "Proxy".
Most players are ok with it as long as they know ahead of time and it isnt excessivly used, but you still have to get their approval first. I know players who have proxied entire armies to try them before spending hundreds of dollars on one.
@Trueflights does that include using a predator tank with an auto cannon has same devastation ablilites as a lascannon but since the auto cannon looks cooler I want to swap their abilities
@3077BIODROID dpends on the edition you play really. In 2nd edition, the lascannon is far more powerful at killing a single target and penetrating heavy vehicles, while an auto cannon is better at taking out multiple infantry in heavy armor or lightly armored vehicles.
In recent editions, they have made the game into "easy mode" where pretty much everything is about the same. The original predator had an autocannon on the turret and lascanons were an optional add on for side sponsons.
Nice army. The only time a proxy model is unacceptable is when its too small or too big. If it is essentially the same size, it is completly acceptable to use these make-shift pieces for they have same sized bases, or close to it, and about the same mass. Again, Nice army.
i have no problems with proxy's myself, i figure as long as they look cool or better than the original models then i think its fine. as for your list you could have done alot worse. i really like the terminator stuff near the end
the point isn't if they are proxy or not, I have to admit though I have 9000 points with 0 proxy models, and it kind of frustrates me when a guy has 16000 points where 10000 is prox. But if you look at all the time and money he have spent you have to admit that He's a real fanatic and that he does care about his army. So Stop Complaining and Thumbs up this video!
You don't deserv 11 Thumbs down! I see that you have worked hard on this army, and you sounds like a nice guy. Ur a real fanatic. :D Don't care about hate messages! I think you have a great army!
@kingsting12 thanks for the kind words. some people don't like proxy models, and that is fine with me. We play to have fun here and if someone wants to proxy things thats fine with us. Over the last 18 years I have dumped a lot more money that I really care to admit into GW, so it doesn't bother me at all picking up some proxy models from the dollar store here and there.
@ozzy758 Thanks. The Spider proxies are only there for really big games for fun, I never really use them. They actually look a lot better now with a quick touch of paint and a gauss cannon mounted on them. They were originally added because GW had stopped making the real Tomb Spider model at the time, though I see it is back in production again. Really, I don't find them all that great and almost never use the two real ones I have, so there is no point in getting more anyways.
@ozzy758 np man ploz show the model and also please keep at your army and stuff cause its epic and you have passion for it so keep you are there any titans for avilible to buy cause i cant find anty on gw ??? :( but greaT WORK :)
@ozzy758 GW sells their official titans and other special models thru Forgeworld now. II'm pretty sure they are the only ones who have the license to sellt he stuff anymore, though if you look on ebay you cn find old models from Epicast and Armorcast from the 90's back when they were selling things as well. Forgeworld has excellent quality and detail, but also costs an arm and a leg. Epicast and Armorcast used to be a lot more reasonably priced, but the quality was generally lower.
@SteveTheVahn thanks. A friend of mine built it for me. I added a few details and I think it could use a little more to finish it off, but I will let him know his work is being appreciated :)
@metalgear523 Thanks. I know there is a handful of proxy figs and some people seem to take offence to that, but I play for fun, so it doesn't matter to me and my friends.
Check out my video about the Necron Stalker Titan. I used parts from a bionicle along with a bunch of other things to build it using the White Dwarf story about the Necron titans as a guilde.
@sammmfrg I have three of the GW tomb spidrrs. Cant buy them anywhere anymore thanks to GW only letting certain retailers carry blisters and I refuse to buy direct from GW because their prices are insane (2 or 3x the cost of local shops)
a lot of your army is 2nd edition and scratchbuilt so many people in the comments have looked down on you for that but I think its quite good. I wouldnt say its 15000points but its a good try and its better than my tau army so who am I to complain? ^^
@Oliver200101 Thanks. All of my armies are 2nd edition. It is what everyone around here still plays because, quite frankly, everything since then has been a joke. 5th ed is great for tournaments, easy to learn, fast to play. If you want real depth and unique armies though, there is nothing that compares to second edition.
@Livingdeadsavior That's fine. A lot of people don't care for scratchbuilt or proxied models. But on the same noe, what do you use for the many models out there that are in codexes and GW does not have figures for? Home made models are a huge part of the game, exspecially when new codexes come out. How many people out there have built themselves a Storm Raven?
@sammmfrg who says you cant have homemade models? In a nice friendly game, there is no reason that you cant. Heck we have let people proxy entire armies just to see if they liked them before spending a few hundred dollars to get one.
Been using home made models for 17 years now and I plan to keep doing so. Its a game, we play to have fun. I've dumped several thousand dollars into GW stuff over the years. If I want to play with some non GW stuff, thats between me and my opponent.
your entire army is frickin crap, you can't make em yourself and say they are something i could say a toy elephant is a hierophant because it has a similiar name.
the doomsday Monolith (which they dont make a model for), the Void Dragon (which they dont make a model for), the pylon (which no sane person would pay the $400 for a real forgeworld one), a couple tombs spiders (which I never use because I have a few real ones), and most of the Flayed ones (I have 10 of the GW ones, but they suck, I really dont like the model so I would rather use the proxy models for those).
Anywya, that is hardly half the army. maybe 20% if you were being generous.
Trueflights- you can't say your army is 15000 + points if you use 2ond edition point values, or if most of your army is proxied!!! it's just not right...
well 5th edition, it is still over 10k if you want to look at it that way, and most of the army is GW minis. There are only a handful of proxy models, with the exception of the Flayed ones because the GW models for them suck (though I still have a unit of 10 GW ones of them) and a few that GW hasn't made minis for. Ignore the 200 pts worth of fake tomb spiders if you want.
Besides, as far as I am concerned, and 90% of the other players around here, there is no edition after 2nd.
I don't think they discontinued the tomb spider but if they did they ned to replace it with a tank or sniper type unit or that tomb stalker thing the necrons need new classes.
It looks like they do still make them, but they are a blister pack taht not many places carry anymore. It seems that the only way to get them is Ebay or direct from GW these days.
It was just a quick filler because we had a game coming up and wanted to playtest the rules for the tomb stalker. I did manage to start building what will be my real tomb stalker. check my videos and you should be able to find it. I went and bought myself a bionicle to use some parts though. the claws make really nice blades and I thought the head was cool.
I agree, but they are fun for home games to fill it out and make the whole force larger. I wouldnt use them in anything but a nice friendly game. Aside from the proxy models though, I still have 4 monoliths, 5 destroyers, 4 heavy destroyers, 42 warriors, 10 flayed ones, 5 priahs, 5 immortals, the Nightbringer, 2 of the old speeder style destroyers, and a ton of scarabs.
any tips on making the nightbringer im kind of struggling to make him ive been collecting for about 5 months also i dont really like imperial guard i used to
Though I will say that I prefer the proxy models that I have for the flayed ones way over the real models. I have 10 of the real ones and I hate the way they were designed. maybe if they had been made out of plastic I would like them a little more, but I just find them very hard to work with and very brittle. I dont think I have ever managed to transport my army anywhere without having to glue at least one of the flayed ones arms back on.
I have been doing a bit of work on the scratchbuilt Tomb Stalker. I really hope that GW or at least Forgeworld releases a model for it someday as it is not as easy to build as you would think.
I'm trying to follow the description that GW released about the tomb stalker, but without pictures, I'm taking a lot random ideas as well. My model is based on a 6 legged spyder type base, with a humaniod (skeletal-mechanical) torso, there are weapons mounted on each arm as well as on each shoulder.
lets see, 4 monoliths are, all of the destroyers are, 80 of the warriors are, 10 of the flayed ones are, 5 of the immortals are, all of the scarabs are, 3 of the lords are, and the night bringer is a real GW model. Even the MKI destroyers are GW models, just older ones, There is still close to 10k in just the GW models.
And who said I was trying to compare to other armies? Just posting what I have and am going to be using in our upcoming battle.
Dude you say MOST of them are real GW models, hardly any of them are, almost about 10000pts are made up of weird stuff uve made,
Also is the points in current edition or 2nd edition? Because if you do the points via 2nd edition it doesn't compare to all the other armies out there in Youtube
grr you stole my title of the largest necron army on youtube!!!. but i still have the largest completely games workshop army, yours is bigger but in my opinion not completely fair
The guys I'm playing with know that I'm going to be using it as a proxy model until I get a real one built. The base to it is going to be similar to a tomb spider in that it will be shaped similarly and have 6 legs, but the upper torso is going to be more like a giant destroyer.
And as I said in the video, its my sons Bionicle, I "borrowed" for the upcomming game, lol.
i almost pissed my self when i saw the bionicle. i hope you get your tome stalker built soon cause people are gonna laugh at that, and just the the fact u own bionicle. hope it dosnt look like the toom spiders
I do have a design worked up to build a model for the Tomb Stalker. A combination of some sketches that I have seen online and some pictures that GW posted from some big game event a few years back.
The body is going to be tomb spider like, just a lot bigger, and the torso and head will more resemble that of a destroyer. A weapon mounted in each arm, and one on each shoulder.
I'm collecting the parts needed for it, but with all my other projects, it probably wont be done in time for the game
the biggest complaint that our gaming group ha with the rules in the newer editins is that they are"dumbing down" the game. The newer rules are a bit more simplfied, making games move along faster, but every edition seems to take some fun out of the game, at least for us.
