Does it have to be heated for the silver to precipitate? For eg the ammonia is being driven off by heat, could you put a vacuum in the flask which will drive off the ammonia too? Or is heat required?
i did something like this in highschool but on a much larger scale. also, i used dextrose and didnt have to heat it. i still have the 250mL flask with the silver lining the entire inside of it.
Well, the Silver is supposed to precipitate after heating, but on the glass. Try cleaning the glass properly. Get back to me if it still doesn't work :)
Its awesome!

Can it be another alternative to make silver for jewellery?

would have been really cool to have heated the solution on a flat peice of glass...still fun, though

thx dude, i've studied this reaction in chemistry textbook but never watched one,
so cool for the silver mirror formation.
btw, u do it at home?
so cool u got those apparatus
i love chemistry but my home is too small and those apparatus are just too expensive..

Hmm... I did this without adding Glucose to the solution in my school laboratory, but it still works. Any idea why?

If I had one of those automatic stirrer thingies I would use it to make tea just for the hell of it...
Nice vidoes, very professional feel to them.
