My favorite part is the shot of him sliding hit foot on the linoleum floor. It really shows the sensitivity to surroudnings that I've seen in kids that are in the autism spectrum. I'm a teacher's aid for special education kids. I'm really happy that other people found this moving. I love that Abed is a real, sensitive person not a stereotype.

So the implication is that he was slightly off since early childhood, and was given treatments (the shots and crying) but didn't change. His mother always accepted him but his father was always a bit cold-shouldered. Then his mother left. In "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas" you learn she has a new family. This is a really sad backstory!
