yee you can say they're hypocritical for using enginges to power their way to the oil rig, and yes they're using a tv to project their activites, and so on an so forth... but the main prospect is that they're trying to stop a very radical way of accessing oil which canhave a profound affect on the earth, the environment and the animals!

There are so many other ways of resourcing fuel and energy, we're just to lazy and ignorant to do so.

They claimed they could last hanging on the oil rigs for a long time. The funny thing is they are making their whole operation sound as if they really stopped it ... for long... The fact is that the Royal Danish Navy and Greenland Police did the only right thing... Waited until the greenlandic weather took care of the activists and brought them to safety.... of course in the cells after which they were kicked out. Thanks to navy and police for doing a good job. Of course, we need to find a more sustainable alternative.

However, to get to those technologies, we need to go through the fossil fuel stage. It is a plain fact of technological evolution.

I am all for this planet in "going beyond oil" however there is, and will be, for lack of a better analogy, a buffer zone: where while we are in the process of developing new energy forms, we will be using what we have, e.g. oil. I think that is rather obvious as I watch these Green Peace advocates racing toward this oil rig and what I will assume are gas operated boats. What many of these environmentalists are pushing is necessary, but it will take generations for it to become mainstream.
