The real issue here is that the environment cannot SUSTAIN the population... thus, FEWER PEOPLE are needed.
If you do not solve the basic problem of "too many people, not enough resources" then you will simply be feeding an ever increasing population who are unable to sustain themselves.
First off, peanut allergies are almost unknown in Africa, where the peanut originated. Second, twenty million children in the world now are suffering from severe malnutrition, and this is such a simple, beautiful, elegant solution to ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERING OF BABIES AND KIDS. I'm surprised at the callous level of comments posted here, especially if they come from parents.
The solution is not to feed them. Sad as it seems it is a loosing battle. The problem is African leaders and some African cultures. Africa is divided into many small tribes who hate each other. The leaders of the tribes are wealthy, the rest of the people are poor. There is an emphases on strength and the ability to dominate other tribes. Women and children (especially girls) are treated like dogs. Check the ratio of men to women in the food programs.
This is an underhanded infomercial for the peanut industry. A base ingredient of this product is peanut. A common allergen. The common allergic reaction is potentially deadly. Its an anapholactic reaction (internal tissues swell [lips, throat], blood pressure drops radically).Within 2 - 15 min a child served just a pea sixed amount of that food with a peanut sensitivity will potentially suffocate. I doubt the caregiver of that child will just happen to have Benadryl to intercept the reaction. :(
Ah yes... the enemy of mankind... the peanut industry! How dare they provide nourishing fats and proteins to starving children, then hire journalists to cover this act! It's all a ploy to profiteer off the poorest regions of the world!
wonder if it tastes good?

All food aid should be tied to birth control.

For most Africans peanuts are a regular part of the diet. This is especially true in the north of Africa.
A side note: When I was a kid we never heard of peanut allergies. What happened to create them in the younger generation?
