  • Early black metal make-up....

  • Is that Vincent Crane on keyboards?

  • I was Charlene's steady guy, but I sneeked off with Nancy to the Cobo Arena to see this guy. It sounds silly, but that was the first time that I had ever held hands with Nancy. I can still feel the shivers up my spine when she took my hand as we walked to the snack bar. After sixty two years of life, so many exciting sexual experiences, so much that I have done, I can still remember how I felt with the simple touch of her hand. Some people will never experience such a feeling.

  • @MrUncleglenn man ilove you! i hope to experince the same

  • This video us just as I saw it in 1968 when it was first broadcast on live TV.

We wondered, "How could such an evil sounding song be so alluring and creative?

  • He's a true freak, but he was also one of the first of the shockers. Original at the time, but a one hit wonder.

  • Continuing on Full Moon Madness Night on Hecate 55 we present:

The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown performing "Fire" on British TV 60's programme "Top of The Pops"

  • Drummer was a 17-year old kid named Carl Palmer, later to be the P of ELP.

  • You're gonna burn. You're gonna burn. You're gonna burn burn burn burn Burn Burn Burn Burn BURN BURN BURN BUUUUUUUUUUURN AH HA HA HA AAAAY HA HA HA AAAAAY HA HA HA HA

  • why is his hat on fire.

    WHAT

  • At 0:39 first time I heard this I thought he was saying Volvo.

  • So very ahead of his time. I still remember hearing this for the first time as a teenager. Great Scott!

  • freaky

  • alice coopers mentor !

  • @doubleslottedflaps absolutely alice got his whole persona off this guy

  • this is what music is ..............not the crap that there putting out today ....i would rather listen to a cat howl in heat then the garbage that out today thanks for the video

  • kiss stole his make-up ahahaha

  • GODHEAD!!!!

  • i am watching the whole sound of the sixties on tv right now :)

  • That guy was kvlt way before kvlt became a term

  • When you are out there like Arthur Brown, normal standards just don't apply. Crazy dancing is only part of the image. But let's be honest... he's as much about image as he is about music. And of COURSE parents would tell their kids to keep away, which is the best advertising he could ever get.

  • Precursor to Kiss

  • Totally digging the dancing lol :)

  • Send this to one of those self-righteous fundies...

  • I sent this video to someone who has never hear of this song or the singer.

I can imagine the look on her face when she hears "I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE, AND I BRING YOU"

  • arthor brown has a deathwish!

  • WHAHAHA BEST SONG EVER! LOL,MY PARENTS WERE GOING IN A BUS FOR A GIG THEY HAD WITH THEIR BAND,I SANG IN THE BACKSEAT,WELL I DID THE PSYCHO LAUGH AND SANG BURN! HEHEHE! :D I WAS ABOUT 3 YEARS OLD

  • i want the bass players suit

  • Now Arthur had some HOT dance moves...(pardon the pun).

I remember this song as if it was yesterday... ok, maybe the day before yesterday...

    Keep on Rocking Arthur!

  • We opened for Arthur Brown at the Aquarius Theater in Holly Wood , Funny because

other than doing mostly songs by the Byrds our opening song was (Send me the pillow you dream on) and that song got us the job for the whole summer.

    Great memories

  • Um, really people? Seriosly, this is embarrassing, and that's it. Not cool, or dangerous, or scary... just juvenile beyond belief. If it were a comic act, maybe, but it's music and trust me: This particular emperor has no clothes. Grow up, for godsakes.

  • @kinggator2 It is extremely dangerous. By accident he set fire to a stage once. And last year he spilt the petrol all over his hair. And it is scary if you look at him and listen to the lyrics after taking certain substances of 'elusive nature'. This was 1968 for god's sake, what did you expect? What is embarassing is the way metal bands sing and look these days.

  • O'Donnel of Delaware must be masturbating watching this. Loll!

  • This guy must be the first "shock rocker" Alice Cooper, W.A.S.P., KISS all of these guys must have gotten their inspiration of this man right here... the GOD OF HELLFIRE!!!

  • It certainly scared me as a 4 year old shitless in 1968 that's for sure!

  • Butlin's 1968 - all jammed in the tv room watching this on TOTP - Classic!

  • Butlin's 1968 - GREAT STUFF!

  • what black metal looked like in the 60s lol

  • I remember this song hitting the charts and I believe it went to #2. I was about 13 at the time and how I loved this sond and artist. I have since bought several of his CD's - any I see I buy and they are truly wonderful and so artistic. His latest CD was released in 2008 or 9 and he it goes under the title of "The Amazing World of Arthur Brown". The "Crazy" has been dropped. But this new CD is so astonishing and beautiful you guys just have to buy it. The songs are staggering. Go get it!

  • That is the ultimate Halloween costume.

  • LEGENDARY. THE END.

  • Flaming Antlers !!!!

  • It's a miracle they didn't set fire to the studio...

  • @ceredigio i think they did a bit. since then they don't dabble with pyro's on TOTP

  • I want this song to play at my funeral, just to freak everyone in attendance out lol!

  • Alot like The Mothers of Invention and Frank Zappa, good shit...

  • where was OSHA ??

  • @TheDavey222 LOL

  • Possibly the greatest song ever

  • Damn,I think He would need to carry some water to put out that flaming hat after it burns down!

  • love this video. hes amazin but strange(Y)x

  • Fucking weird.

  • FN AMAZING!

  • One of the most memorable performances I ever saw at the Fillmore East "back in the day" - coming down the central walkway to mount the stage from his sedan chair, horns already ablaze!

  • Looks like Alice Cooper copied Arthur's image on this clip.

  • This MUST'VE scared 1960s parents shitless. Imagine if your teenage daughter bought him home lol

"Your dating Arthur Brown - the FIRE guy!"

  • saw arthur brown supporting hawkwind on friday, what a fuckin show!!!!!!

  • this song was no.9 in the world-year-end-charts 1968

  • @fez1964

alice cooper starts his career at 64

  • Saw Arthur last night support Hawkwind in London - he's still got the voice and the moves!

  • This song makes me so happy and cheerful :)

  • i use to hear this song on the radio in the early 70,s and then i never heard it again until recently on you tube--some wicked shit here.

  • That guy's fucking mental!

I love the song too. Reminds me of "I Burn" by The Toadies. And of course, Shivaism. Deconstruction.

Only illusions can be destroyed. The Truth remains standing!

  • the prodigy sampleo el comienzo de esta canción "I am the god of hell fire, and I bring you" fire
