20b rapes on any "8 banger". shoulda spent your money on that. But either way I always appreciate the work of someone who actually puts time into their car and doesnt go out buying a 40k bmw and thinking they are the shit. nice work on the car though keep it up.
I love reading all the comments from ignorant rotards that get all butthurt when an LS motor can make more power, more reliably than their beloved rotaries.

Contrary to popular belief, Displacement can be overruled in motorsports outside of dragracing. You don't want an assload of torque when coming out of a hairpin, hence the C6R in Lemans has roughly stock torque at 510ftlbs and roughly 680hp.
muahahahahaahhahahh v8s make me spew! ppl who drive them think they so good till a rotary pulls up next to them and smashes them whole hahahahahah poor v8s huge and weak......
ohh and they very envious of what rotaries did to them in le mans .. onwed pwned caked!

An RX-7 has to have a functioning rotary engine to smash anyone. And well, they rarely have functioning engines. And a rotary powered car won at Le Mans ONCE. How many times has it happened since?
@MCarll Considering rotaries were subsequently banned in 1992 after the 787B won in 1991, how many times do you think it won dumb*ss? And the R26B is a better comparison to a LS1 anyway. 13b is better compared to a 4 cylinder.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You got me on the banning of rotary engines at Le Mans, I wasn't aware of that. But how is a 700 hp R26B, an engine designed only for competition, comparable to an LS1 that was designed for street use?
If you are someone who would put an ls1 in a respected import like an rx7...dont bother with the car, just be one of these ppl who just get a mustang or a corvette. keep your american muscle car for the great ls1 and a reliable everyday driver, then you can drive your cool rotary unique rx-7 for weekends or somethin..if it breaks just fix its not ur everyday car. but by puttin an ls1 in this car it just lost major cool points in history and japanese respect
Respect?? You drive a fuckin miata for God's sake. Anyways who cares if he put an ls1 in it, maybe he blew the rotary engine and wanted an engine with some torque. This car is a lot cooler with a v8 in it. And btw, who cares about japanese respect lol, they drive like crap, i find myself honking at least 10 a day.
and oh and carbondude or whatever ur name is i forgot to comment on what u said....i never mentioned anything about an rx7 not being able to make that power. Its common sense that a rotary makes easy hp with proper boost. im just saying dont swap if you are lookin for reliability, just get another car instead of doin a swap....import car customization isnt about a car lasting for 15 years. - this comment will continue on next post
sorry to dissapoint your bs artist comment....it has been done in japan with a 12a! 1.2 litre find me a v8 that size that makes that power and get back to me ok ? this time no bs accusations!
P.s.s. you show your ignorance with your 700hp comment. Rotaries are easily capable of 700 hp with proper boost...do your homework before whining in public.
P.S. I have owned 3 7's and like the uniqueness and power of the rotary as much as anyone else. Just because I want reliability doesn't constitute blasphemy.
well if you dont like what the rx7 is as its own unique vehicle with its rotary and its common problems...maybe japanese import modifications and import racing is just not for you , why dont u just get an american car with a v8 and leave cars meant to be themselves alone
It doesn't matter. Chevy sb and 13bs are both capable of hi horsepower. Anyone can do what they want to their car. For instance, my 93' RX-7 has blown two transmissions and a turbo in a year. So I am going with a Chevy engine to get dependable driveability and power. Adding a Chevy engine DOES NOT ruin the balance of the car, it adds 90 pounds to the total weight, which can be removed by going with a carbon hood and other mods. So before you bash it...try it.
because these two vehicles are meant for handling fast through corners and not going fast in a straight line with the exception of the powerful rotary. the rx7 can already go fast in a straight line with a rotary and can also handle....adding an ls1 will only ruin both qualities
thanx for your agreeing with me, all i do is work on mazda performance cars. Mazda's 2 main performance vehicles that did really well are the rx-7 & miata mx-5 and i've seen so many bad conversions that its just unreasonable. rx7s should only stick with the 13 or 20b and miatas only with 1.6s and 1.8s (THIS COMMENT WILL CONTINUE ON NEXT POST)
i fuckin hate the guy who did this. just drop dead, why u gonna take the one thing that a car is known for(its unique rotary) and just be a dumass for high horsepower with an ls1. fast isnt always about having like 700hp u know....you have to take into consideration of the perfect weight ratio which you've just destroyed and you are just thinkin "I wanna go fast in a straight line and i think thats the only way of racing". I feel bad for this rx-7...it just had its dick cut off
Out of every comment ever posted on youtube I think this is the best thing I have ever read. I own a 1990 rx7 turbo convertible and the worst thing I can think of is doing an engine conversion for some big litre engine, Not having a 13b in an rx7 is like a man with no balls, its just not right!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
LMAO you have no idea what you're talking about...the LS1 is the SAME WEIGHT (sometimes it's lighter) as the Stock 13B REW so your argument on keeping the 50/50 weight ratio is a defeated stab. No it's not about having 700hp...it's about having TOURQUE TOO. I have a 450rwhp (stock port, now it's race ported so probably 500rwhp roughly) and i'm taking it out for a reliable fuel efficient torque making pushrod all aluminum V8 LS1.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
rotories blow because of stupidity and POOR maintnence . i have a 1983 gsl with a JUNKYARD motor that has 310k miles on it and it runs perfect. i love rotories bc they have 2 moving parts and 30 metal seals. a 3cyl engine has at the least 150 moving parts!! lot less to go wrong . also i think v8s are just BOAT ANCHORS!! i dont need 5.0L to kick your ass!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
but the rotaries are just too small, for their size yes they make a great amount of power, but a certain size engine will have it's limits, that's why a 5.0 engine will still produce more hp, and if done right still just as reliable as a rotary, even if it does have more moving parts
But in exchange for your 5.0 you have 500+kg to lump around that means your acceleration suffers, power to weight is the key. Check out the Lotus 7 with two Hyabusa Engines. I think it would take a whole lot of mods to a 5.0 to keep up with it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
ok, to finally settle this take a 2 liter rotary engine, and take a 5 liter piston engine, do whatever you want to it and see which one produces more power, the 5 liter will always win, but yes the 2 liter rotary will still make an insane amount of hp for it's size.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not really. Compare the two (just the engine blocks, nothing else) on a weight scale and see. Just my opinion. But, Having a V8 engine in an RX-7 is starting to grow on me. (Mazda should have done this a LONG time ago)
