Does anyone know if the vocal from 3:15 on is posted in its entire form somewhere. (Souviners from Bergen appears in the slide title but that doesn't appear to be the title). This hauntingly beautiful song may be in memory of a lost friend or relative of Sissel, I don't know ... I do know I haven't heard a more moving vocal by anyone-anywhere else on YouTube!
There is a slightly longer excerpt from this song after "Imagine" performed by Sissel also posted by plo94. I don't speak Norwegian, but I believe I hear Bergen (Sissel's home town)mentioned and the pictures are of that city, so I guess that is what the song is about. As you say, a lovely song.
Fascinating! Cannot tire of this. The combination of her voice, youthful beauty, expressive delivery and perfect diction is spellbinding. But what does "Blant alle guder" mean? Online dictionaries don't find "blant" or "guder". No matter - I love the song and Sissel. Thank you!
The lyrics are written in the late 17th century by Norwegian priest af poet Petter Dass. He elaborates on the line "Our Father - thou who art in Heaven". It translates:
Among all the gods no one is as great as our. Everyone calls him "Our father" and rightully so because he treats us like a father should:
Lots of wonderful fresh fishes come from the salty sea, our fishing hook is blessed, our nakes body is dressed in wool and linen, coarse and fine.
Other people turn to more mortal gods but to no avail. These gods of flesh and blood are like chaffs and within a few years they will vanish.
If you love the filthy lucre you will turn toward the gold and try to hide your poor god in a cloth; by I will stick to my God Zebaoth, he is my shield and my castle no matter what happens.
If you want to know for sure the dwelling place and land of our god then look to the heaven, there he is seated, there is his palace.
Scandinavians are like angels, she is proof of this. Look at her... and she has always had a wonderful voice, wow.

Many thanks Mikael. Now I can relate Sissel's expressive gestures to the words. Best wishes!
