@khatman100 i actually liked it :) so honest and spontaneous. i'm Filipino but i find her accent very exotic. it's unique even. she's very intelligent you can see
As I was saying, I come back not because I like this video, but because it does something to me - it makes me pause for a moment, makes me look at myself and makes me recollect other goodness (good things) that have happened in my life that I have taken for granted, such as people in my life that I have met who were like Charice in this video - honest, friendly, innocent. It's hard to express this emotion, which is what Charice also said in this video.
You know, this is the first blog with zero dislikes that I've seen...and rightly so. I'll tell you why. Since I started following Charice, that is, watching her videos, listening to her music, etc., I always seem to want to come back to this video interview for some reason. This video is special. There is something in this video that I take that shows what pure innocence is like, what goodness is like, what wholesomeness is like....(continued).
airport noise faded the moment she started to sing... bet all "passengers-by" stopped to look for that voice...really such a darling! and oh, she can probably have five of that "dream car" now (",)
that irks me also everytime DF said Charice didn't speak english when he first met her. i mean u don't have to twist the truth to impress. charice's voice is already impressive.
this is my fave charice moment of all time. i learned a lot from this. charice showed how courages, self-confident and determined she was in achieving her dreams. can you imagine a 15-year old kid, born and raised from a simple town, stepping into the global stage with basically nothing, no training, no wealth, no big friends, with only her genius talent and superb voice? i am crying whenever i watch this especially when she said "this is my dream car." now you can buy all you want my princess.
She's very proud because she's now in the United States of America? lol. It's very cute but what is it to be proud of when someone is finally in a US territory? lol. USA is the heaven on Earth?
@markopoDX Coming to US IS a big deal for a little Filipina who grew up in a barrio -- because she's there to perform on the Ellen (Degeneres) AND Ellen invited her personally & paid all her expenses.
@markopoDX you should listen to what she said again! She is proud because she will be a guest of the Ellen Degeneres show, the studio of which happens to be located in the USA! Is that clear enough for you? BTW, USA is the country itself, not a US territory. Guam, Puerto Rico and others are US territories.
@markopoDX try listening again to what she meant to say. try harder without any of the old biases and prejudices you night have developed. see the thought of her words from her point of view as a young girl overjoyed and overwhelmed by it all
In many ways I think she spoke it better when she arrived, and more correctly. She's less inhibited about speaking it than she is now. But, the "Voice of America" interview is one of the best that I have seen her do, aside from this one. Sorry to flood this topic.
Actually, Filipinos study English in school along with Tagalog. They can all understand and speak English. It's just that they don't always have the opportunity to speak it with Americans. Depending on the Province they are from they have a Provincial dialect they learn from birth. So most Filipinos can speak at least 3 languages. :)
I wholeheartedly agree ronparel and monty549. This is why it irks me that David Foster during his DF&F tour made it a point in each show to say that Charice, like Celine, couldn't speak a word of English when they arrived. Charice has never corrected him on this and maybe the purpose of the script was to induce amazement in that it only took her 3 years to learn English. In any case, in her recent interviews Charice is perpetuating the story, saying that David taught her English.
she's very charming and very articulate, and intelligent, so honest and spontaneous. her accent is charming and sounds exotic actually. doesn't sound like the typical Filipino accent when speaking english. not even a fake americain accent, ykwim. this is such an honest to goodness nice interview. i really like this one. Thanks for this very special Charice video. This is classic!
Thank you for uploading this video. This is my first time to see this video. How can't you love this girl? She's so charming and you can tell from this interview how brilliant she is. She expressed herself very well. After only two and half years later, here she is doing radio interviews and her interview with Larry London of Voice of America is one of the best interviews so far.
wow! very nice, great video documenting the very first US visit of Charice. She is very articulate in English really and honest the way she speaks. this is really great!
Great job Charice! It seems like only yesterday when a little girl came to the US as a stranger .brought nothing ..BUT her big dream and her GOD given talent. Now look at you after 2 and a half years you are on top of the world!
Great interview, the fact that this is the first time that she landed in the US. She was able to express herself well and anybody who speaks and undestands english undestands what she was saying.
This was back then almost 3 years ago and we all don't know what the future lies ahead of her, but now we CHASTERS, I for one is so proud of all her achievements...a part of this phenomenon!
Wow! This is a valuable piece of history on Charice's journey to realizing her dreams. You can really tell that at the age of 15, She is already matured and She knows exactly what She wants. Brilliant Girl!
you know what Charice is intelligent, to think this is her fist time in U.S. In Philippines english is second language but as you can observed she's not thinking long to find the right words. Filipinos can sing and learn international songs, language in a matter of short time, very gifted people.
Thanks for re-uploading this rare video. This is my favorite interview of any celeb. EVER! . . . what an amazing moment in time Charice is having - may it last forever!
good to see this again - Charice is sooo excited but handled herself perfectly! My US friend just told me she has 3 items in Top 100 on Amazon sales charts - wow!
