  • Apparently this weekly broadcast didn't make it. I hate to say it though

  • Nobody knows what ifa means

  • @TheDD563

International Farmer's Association are farm supply stores found all over the west.

  • These videos rule! Your home is bigger than mine but I pay 1000.00 a month and no t.v. I'm 30 yrs old and a full time construction worker for 12 yrs. I'm also a falconer/acoustic guitarist. My redtailed hawk hunts mostly rabbits....any advice on where to live?? NJ fire codes would never allow me to live like you...any info would rule

  • @opusjosh

The southwest and very rural areas have less codes.

  • love the rabbit and the rabbit

  • Can you do a video on how to prep & cook rabbits? I can figure out how to cook it easily, but how do you skin it? How to you get the fur turn into leather for wearing?

  • what the name of the song playing at the end of this video

  • Excellent information. Thanks!

  • lots of good info

  • NO LETTUCE

  • Trio is 2 does and a buck

  • Only 70 holes? Thats small

  • Been raising forbabout 20 years

  • Um... overfeeding?? YES it IS a problem. If a doe becomes too fat it will essentially crowed up the falopian tubes and thereby decrease her fertility/ability to impregnate. :) We had a 70 hole rabbitry. ARBA is an excellent source of info. Enjoy your vids. :)

  • Lamar, great vid and information. Very eductional... Thanks for all your effort!

  • Great info! We have chickens, but no rabbits- but Ive been thinking about it. Ill second the request about some beekeeping info, that would be great too.

  • Nice

  • Thanks, great info my friend.

  • Thanks, great info my freind.

  • are you still running the ebook special?

  • @centervilletn

Yes, the $1 ebook simple solar homesteading will be available through April 28th. Go to simplesolarhomesteading and on the front page is a bright yellow link to order.

  • Inbreeding of rabbits is an acceptable practice but don't breed a brother to a sister. It's all about Understanding the genetics. When you inbreed, you have a greater chance of genes lining up, both good and bad so you need to cull heavily and You can get some great stock.

I don't understand the 2 buck thing, if I was just starting out it would be 1 buck and 2 does the 2nd buck would just be a waste of money imo.

Luv your videos and been waiting a long time for the new stuff. Thumbs up..*****

  • thanks for the new videos keep em coming

  • What is the cost of raising a rabbit from birth to diner size. How old are they at harvest?

  • @SSanf

Depends on what your are feeding them. A good grow mix puts on weight fast but costs more and most people butcher between 8 and 10 weeks.

  • when do you suggest taking the babies out of the nest box

  • @thepolarpandabear

The bunnies will come out on their own when they are weaned but leave the box in because they like to feel protected. When they are all out and eating dry food and drinking you can take away the box and move them to a community pen so you can breed momma again.

  • Very good subject. Thanks for posting

  • @PHANTOMSLAYER77 So what? Never heard of either but if you believe rabbits are unclean, try a local restaurant or look closely at your store bought flour or other goodies. Rabbits would be sparkling in comparison.

  • a farm store here at bunnys for 29.99 and there going like hot cakes great video ty for it

  • I love your videos! About rabbits, they are good meat but we need some fat in our diet for bodily (cellular) needs. Rabbit meat is high in protein and can cause problems if used exclusively as meat source.

On a different note, I think beekeeping would be a great addition to your homesteading. They are simple to maintain, have a lot of marketable by-products, and they are very interesting animals. Oh, and they'd be a great benefit to your garden!

    Keep up the great work!

  • @mts0628

I wouldn't eat rabbit as my only source of meat and we have chickens as well. I don't raise bees but have neighbors that do so maybe we will visit them and get an interview.

  • If the tail is wet, call the vet..

  • I feed my rabbit cheerios as a treat, along with regular rabbit food to help mix up the menu for them. My little baby is going on 10 years old now.

  • Great video! I raise rabbits for both meat and pets. I love them. They are my favoritte animal to keep so far. You definately want a cage type set up. Once you have your rabbit barn set up, care is a snap! I have several videos on rabbits (American chinchillas) and it also shows my barn set up for anyone interested. If you search "NewlyAwakened American Chinchilla" some of my videos should pop-up. Good job Lamar and I look forward to your series.

  • Do you have any videos of how you cook in your cabin? What kind of stove you have, etc. I would guess a wood burning stove, or is it with propane?

  • We use to raise rabbits for food.We use to sell allot to France.

    Thanks love your videos

  • Great job Lamar!

  • I was raised on a small farm, and my Daddy always told me "Son, dont pet your food". So that was that.

Great video man, and IM glad to hear your gonna be doing a weekly video. Great info and I appreciate you.

    God bless, and thumbs up~~John

  • bunnies are cute, and i have no problem in making them my dinner if necessary. however, call me a girl, but i find the ones with red eyes just creepy! lol.

    good video LaMar.

okay, what if mama bunny is used to your scent, will she allow you to pet the babies

  • @JDRgoddess

You mean the terminator bunnies freak you out LOL!

Once the babies are weaned they are usually moved to a community pen away from momma and you can pet them all you want.

  • Wow, I was just watching your channel and wishing for a new video! Thanks for this excellent info! I'm definitely getting some rabbits this summer. I will also be buying your new book soon. You are a huge inspiration to me, LaMar! Thank you so much for all that you do! Keep the videos coming!

  • I ADORE rabbits!! And this is the year of the Golden Rabbit too! Very informative vid, much appreciated however I couldn't concieve of eating them however it's a step on the path to self sufficiency which seems to be where most of us are headed now. Beautiful bunnys... bunnys! Bunnys!!! I love you bunnys!!! :o)

  • @TruthSeekingElf

Thanks- we have a couple of pet rabbits we would never consider eating and keep the others without names or getting attached to them because it can make it difficult when it comes time to use them for food.

  • @solarcabin Yes I understand, thank you. Love your lifestyle, it's what I'm aiming towards. This is how everyone ought to live, back to nature. Thanks again and best wishes.

  • Another great video sir. You have no idea how many questions you answered for me. You have such a straight forward easy to understand way of explaining things. Thank you.

  • when raising rabbits can you eat them year round or just mouths ending in er

  • @420apbt4life

There is some concerns about eating wild rabbits because of tuleremia parasite but home raised rabbits can be butchered and eaten year round. Do not allow home rabbits to mingle with wild rabbits.
