  • Hi

    This is exactly what I do with Tamil to English teaching Good for you, keep it up

  • Avoiding grammar will probably work for some languages, but many aren't as forgiving when it comes to grammar and require a good understanding of it to effectively communicate in the language. Foregoing active study of grammar in some languages for a more passive approach could mean the difference between learning to speak and be understood in months or in years.

    I'd much rather study grammar and vocab for 7+ hours per day and speak in 4 months, than passively learn it and speak in 2+ years.

  • I'm learning Japanese too. I accualy found this vid, cause I was looking for a way to learn it faster. XD

  • I'm learning Japanese too.

  • First off, grammar is not some horrifying beast that people should be afraid of. It merely is the full set of rules for a language. To suggest someone can learn a language without learning grammar is to show a complete misunderstanding of what grammar is. For example, to know past, present and future is to know some kind of grammar. This video is far too simplistic.

  • @rfwelsh True--syntax is just the underlying patterns and limiting rules of the language as are Phonotactics for the sounds allowed in a language. Everyone who speaks fluently understands then at an unconscious level. Those that can make explicit what is in implicit have an advantage in complete understanding--thus the field of linguistics

  • suscribed!

  • This is good for people that want to have a set of basic phrases for when going to a different country, but if you want to master a language, you need to start from the ''behind the scenes'' and develop a solid foundation, then go onto learn vocabulary and manipulate it yourself

  • Grammar should not be looked at until you already feel comfortable communicating in the language. learn grammar later on if you want to be perfect, but keep in mind that communicating is more important than being perfect.

  • very good.i am sure people can learn a language like children do.the mind of a child does not die,it goes to the adult.

  • He speaks truth, it's all about templates - you learn some basic phrases and then you learn words and put these new words into those templates (or patterns?) you already know. You also have to listen a lot of tapes, watch tv and listen to radio in your target language, cause you have to train your ears to define these alien words. And you also have to develop an accent. Thats all, then, when you can speak more or less fluently u can go deeper into grammer if needed. I study Danish this way.

  • Please don't share more tips. You don't seem to know what the heck you are talking about.

  • Yes I agree I do the same I m a brain researches, I think grammer is gone with grandma, and is useless!!! I m studying Swedish now, and SFI is the most boring impotent thing you can ever sit in!!

  • more vids please thanks !

  • I totally agree with this form of teaching/ learning. I know a lot about grammar, but as an English teacher I talk about it less and less.

  • YOu have grammar when you speak. Grammar is the underlying rules. YOU MIGHT HAVE MEANT that studying grammar is not necessary for language acquisition. You weren't very clear and would never make it UN Interperter--which is the highest lang level in the WORLD. BTW a sentence is grammar--you might want to actually pursue a linguistic degree to understand what you are trying to state.

  • Personally I love learning grammar. But I know that in that I may be one of the few! Still, I think that you can use this method with learning grammar as well. ie. You learn in Japanese about x wa y desu. You can then start substituting x and y, so it is the same as this video addresses. Personally, I just like to know the 'why' even if you don't use it.

  • rowing cocks??? is that a sport? LOL jk

  • this does not work when learning a language comprehensively. sub clauses will be an issue and complex tense formation will not be learned properly

  • That's how i learned my english ^_^

    Keep it ... you're good !

  • I'll believe this the day you can give me sentence templates for Japanese. Good luck on that one, lol.

  • easy. anyone could

    watashi wa antonii desu. i am anthony

    watashi->anata

    anata wa antonii desu. you are anthony

    antonii->MariusuSouma

    anata wa MariasuSouma desu. you are MariusSoma

  • tfs...

  • Not to offend but that didn't seem very helpful. Plus without learning the grammar how will you know how to write the language? Para eso no hay un truco, tu solo remedio es aprender la gramatica, aunque no te guste!!

  • thanks
