  • I watched the vh1 premire of the trl decade special a few day ago and they did NOT memtioned anything about our Aaliyah! I was pissed off!!! anybody out there agree?!?

  • @TheOracle1814 I AGREE..I was soooooo pissed and am STILL thinking about writting them..Aaliyah not only one of MTV's MAIN products in the 90s but she appeared on TRL quite a few times even hosting at one point in time and for them to not mention her thats BEYOND a slap not only to Aaliyah's fans face but its a BIGGER slap in Aaliyah's face and that alone don't sit well w me..I'm going to write them an email

  • mtv sucks now there's hardly anything music related on their now they should bring back trl

  • Me and her have the same hairstyle! :)

  • @thedecider1984 god bless your soul

  • Listen to the screaming and the love.

  • DAMN SHE WAS FINE. UNLIKE THAT FAKE ASS BEYONCE

  • They better show this episode tonight!! :D

  • This was from April 2001, when she was premiering the "we need a resolution" video

  • She was truly the Janet Jackson of this generation !!

  • 2001 was kind of a corny ass year for entertainment

  • I've never seen Carson have so much chemistry with someone. You could tell he had a crush on Aaliyah.

  • you can tell Aaliyah didnt like when "Abby from Washington" tried 2 get smart, saying Aaliyah got the guess wrong ! I LOVE AALIYAH <3

  • 10 years have passed and still can't accept that shes dead

  • Everything about this woman is simply Timeless her look on here is Flawless

  • She seemed like she was irked.

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Aaliyah♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • She was so beautiful n genuine. I miss her& her music. No one has a voice like hers. She didn't have to scream at the top of her lungs to prove she could sing. The music industry hasn't been the same since she's been gone. What a talent.

  • had she not have died Beyonce would not have been this big. Dont get me wrong she's brilliant and i love her but allyiah is better. and its kind of ironic that she talks about beyonce when she was up and coming while aaliyah was on top

  • @rtayahua24 Destiny's Child was 6x platinum with the Writing's on the Wall... bigger than Aaliyah ever was... And I love her but facts are facts

  • @Fodemanga Aaliyah hadn't even released an album when Writing's on the Wall came out. She took a 5 year break and dropped hit singles including the first single to go number 1 based strictly on airplay (meaning it was getting spins without officially being released as a single). The song was Try Again btw so I'd say Aaliyah was quickly becoming a big deal even while taking a huge musical break. You don't have TRL appearances for being a star; you get it for being a superstar. Facts are facts.

  • @MindFuLL101 I didnt' say Aaliyah wasn't known, I just replied to the person saying Beyonce wouldn't be as big if Aaliyah was here... And I don't even like Beyonce but she would have been here no matter who was on the stage. I actually like Liyah but her fans need to stop saying that some artists wouldn't be here or not as succesful because that's just not true. She couldn't stop Brandy and Monica, what makes people think she would have with Beyonce?

  • @Fodemanga I don't like those arguments but equally as infuriating is the implication that Aaliyah wasn't popular nor was she on the cusp of mega-stardom when she died. Based on what you said originally, you seem to imply this but let's be real, there are many great artists that don't have Beyonce's fame including Monica and Brandy so popularity is really any indication of the merit of the artist but that's not the argument. Towards the end of the 90s, Aaliyah was starting eclipse both.

  • @Fodemanga I'd say the reason wasn't as big she should have been when she was still living was more a personal preference than anything else. Aaliyah valued her personal life more than anything else so with this position, she wasn't bound to do many appearances or consistently release albums i.e. oversaturate the market with her product. If you're not deliberately adopting that marketing strategy, of course you're not gain much of a return statistically. Aaliyah was on Sade steez.

  • @Fodemanga Like Sade (though not as extreme), Aaliyah was careful with her appearance and picked in choose what she wanted to do and more importantly when she wanted to do it even if it's a five year absence but look at Sade. Sade drops an album every ten years with little promotion while she doesn't have the "megastardom" of Beyonce but the sales of her tours and albums speak for themselves so it's about being everywhere like Beyonce, you're right Aaliyah may not have been on that but...

  • @MindFuLL101 You should read aain my comment. AGAIN I was replying to someone saying Beyonce wouldn't b as successful if Aaliyah hadn't passed. I just showed evidence it wasn't true. And AGAIN I love Liyah but her fans should just stop dissing other artists because they feel she would have their success if she was here. Where did I say she wasn't successful or relevant anymore? Show me because I'm sure I never did. I'm done

  • @Fodemanga I never said you said it either lol. if you read my original comment I said you implied. This is how implication works. Johnny Deep is the greatest actor in the world. I didn't say Robert Deniro wasn't the best but by saying hat Johnny Depp is the best ever, I'm implying that Deniro isn't the best. It's simple explication. I don't like how artist diss other artists to boost Aaliyah and vice versa. I was invalidating your initial implication. Again, there's that word IMPLICATION.

  • @MindFuLL101 Lol I didn' say nor imply that Aaliyah wasn't succesful. It's not like your example where there can only be one "best". There can actually be more than one successful artist. So please don't even try to say that I because I sad DC was bigger, that implies Liyah wasn't. It just implies she was less. And that's not an opinion but a fact.

  • @Fodemanga but it wasn't because she didn't have the star power nor fan base to be on Bee's level or even eclipse Beyonce but it was because she wanted to negotiate the degree of her stardom on her own terms--not some marketing machine or pr team pulling the strings. She was set to be in the Matrix and Xmen-two films that would've definitely boosted her star power so obviously Aaliyah was prepared to make that leap but again, it would've been on her own terms cuz Aaliyah was in control.

  • @Fodemanga Finally, Aaliyah died at 22. She only released 3 albums & the 3rd album barley got any promotion when she was living yet people still tweet about her, artists sing/rap/shout/sample her, channel her style and we're talking about her now 10 years later. She's able to elicit this type of response 10 years later without any new material, any new movies or new any products except 1 posthumous release in 02--no aggressive marketing strategy at all. Why? she still matters.

  • this is taking me back to the good ol 90's ... AALIYAH !! i wish she was still here

  • she was sooo stylish!!

  • Aaliyah FOREVER

  • Left Eye passed away on April 25th, 2002. Carson said on here Happy Birthday to Tboz (April 26th). Very sad.. Couldn't imagine hearing the news on my bday.. and every year... whoa

  • It's still hard to believe she has passed away :(

  • ahhww Aaliyah said she loved DC. i love you Aaliyah and DC.

  • I miss watching TRL

  • April 26, 2001 my bad

  • Listen to the screams, she was getting big and that shit was taken away.

  • it was april 24, 2001

  • I remember watching trl back in the day, and i have never heard anyone scream the way they did when aaliyah stepped in the room. She truly touched millions, and people say she wasnt anything till she died. Aaliyah was gonna shut it down. She had scripts lined up for her, she was talking about a fourth album, and opening a clothing store all by the age of 22. That is true talent, without being a hoe!

  • She could dress her ass off

  • damnn wat an ovation for aaliyah!

  • @Maczilla9711 me too. i been searching up what happened to aaliyah's plane snake, but it never showed

  • @Maczilla9711 her brother is probably taking care of it. I don't think he sold any of her stuff after she passed.

  • @Maczilla9711 When & What year was this

  • @1990babyface I Don't Know What Date, But I Know The Year Was 2001

  • @Maczilla9711 She was so pretty.

  • @Maczilla9711 I think it was august 1st

  • @1990babyface This is from april 2001, Aaliyah had just released the we need a resolution video. I remember watching this right after school, and i kept thinking the sky is the limit for Aaliyah, she was on fire in 2000 and 2001, everyone wanted a piece of Her.

  • @TanphantourathJunior Her family took it and her dog under their care.

  • omg I love this episode. I haven't seen it in years. That faded blue looked great on Aaliyah.

  • uhm sonjia looks like a lesbo lol no offense!!

  • um stop comparing aaliyah and beyonce...beyonce fake and is a moneymaker...aaliyah was and still is an angel and did it all for her fans...a TRU ARTIST- AALIYAH

  • LOL 1:06 and 1:07 the loudest 2 screams in the room!!!

  • sleep is her best friend... damn when she said that i felt very strange.. we miss u Aaliyah YOU ARE THE BEST

  • I miss the good old days of trl, Here we are almost nine years later and it still hasnt sunk in that she is gone,

  • I luv her so damn much!!!

  • today she where the NO.1! FUCK BEYONCE

  • @Sarastyle1 what kind of shit is that yall think its beyonce falt she so big now i love aaliya rip but beyonce works hard to get where she at because she was more of a janent jackson singer so beyonce would still be on top look at jay z he big as hell look at lil wyane look at t i they can hold they own if she was here beyonce would still be on top so campring a dead person let her rest and she loved destinys child and beyonce she woulld be happy for b

  • @kinganthoney But I think everyone agrees that Aaliyah had a much more beautiful voice tho than beyonce or anyone else

  • I remember leaving work early to catch her on this.her look on this show was absolutely amazing perfection, the outfit, the hair, the sunglassess, She was waaaaaaaaaay ahead of her time!

  • she looked so scared at 1:07, lol tha fan was extra loud ... i'm defintely of a fan of her since her song from " are that somebody" speaking for every here in the carribean islands; she had fans alot

  • Look at all those people hyped up to see Aaliyah. And some people still have the nerve to say she had no fans until she died. What a load of bull.

  • @PsionicJedi

RYTE! CLEARLY Aaliyah was a STAR. You see all those fans holding up aaliyah signs and banners? yea, NOBODY knew her until she died. *sarcasm*

  • @PsionicJedi It's absolutely absurd. You don't get on TRL and even host a TRL show for being just a star; you get these opportunities for being a superstar. Aaliyah was a superstar; she was just on her Sade skeez doing the low key marketing. She didn't over saturate the market like certain singers today. Cough Cough

  • you need to put sosme more tags on the video so it gets some views

  • @bajeboi

yes..it`s really important ..thx for this 2 clips
