As a school bus driver in Missouri, I believe all states should be airing on their local TV stations a safety message regarding this issue. It happens all the time & the drivers just wave or shrug their shoulders as they are passing by. I have even seen local law enforcement doing this. Absolutely ridiculous! At our lot we have to have a very good description of the driver, the car & license plate number to even begin to report it. Kinda hard to do when you are a school bus driver, we need help!
@threexrich Some school district in Indiana had a squad of the ISP troopers ride on a school bus and ticket those who blow by school bus when stopping. They should do this daily.
@Tr2u1ck I agree, they should. But I don't see that happening here. Airing a PSA on it would be a great start and much cheaper for the state. I don't understand why it has never been done. What will it take? How many more children must die before this is taken seriously? I wrote a letter to the editor of our local paper a few weeks back and it may have been seen by a few but it needs to be in the forefront of every driver's mind on a daily basis to pay attention! Would love some help.
@threexrich Hardly anyone thinks the rules of the road applies to them. I drive big rigs and I seen evidence of this daily. I would love to offer state troopers ride-alongs with truckers and enforce traffic safety laws. Unfortunately, it takes a tragedy to wake the hell out of people to realize "ok we really shouldn't be doing this".. but then its short-lived..
