This and the Omega Metroid in Fusion are the only boss fights with a timer. Corruption sort of counts and you hp is slowly going down (...up really) to your doom. Never played M so idk about that one.
@RicardoSForever ??? What game did you think I mean? In Echoes you run until you mean Dark Samus, and after you beat her (it) you escape in a cut scene. In Fusion you run to where your ship is, fight and kill the Omega Metroid, and then jump in your ship that flies right in front of you. Hardly a challenging feet at that point. All the other timers happen after the final boss (to my knowledge), but not those 2.
@DarkonFullPower I replayed to the I never played M, part of your comment. I know Prime 2 and Fusion's stories, they are my favorite 2d and 3d metroid games.
@RicardoSForever Cool. All I know is Echoes's and Fusion's final boss is with the timer running. But you have to SUCK or do it on purpose to lose that way.
the first time i did this i forgot to pause it, wen i came back i had like 2 min left. then fuking dark samus has to ruin the damn thing for me. but the worst part is that i turned off the gamecube and i had to fight the emperor ing again. I HATE DARK SAMUS!
Why is it that everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE Samus goes, the place explodes afterwards: Zebes, Tallon IV, Dark Aether, the place in Corruption that I can't remember. She just has a knack for getting planets to explode! And that's what's so awesome about her.
@Deathray783 Yeah Phaaze. And I know that it was the crater, I just think it's kinda unconveniently convenient that things explode around Samus. But the Metroid series just wouldn't be the same without the thrill of trying to make it out alive and Dark Samus doesn't help!!
Don't know why, but I once put this in Portal 2 fighting against Wheatly...it fitted really well. Maybe it was the neurotoxins pressure? or the fact i had time to defeat him before dying?
*kills 1st emperor* samus: hell yeah *turns into a giant spider thing* samus: damn it *kills 2nd emperor* samus: omg i fanally get to get the hell out of here *phazon comes up blocking the portal* samus: wtf do i have to do now *dark samus comes* samus: fuck i should have collected the energy tankes player: omg wtf i died damn it *50 more tries later* player: omfg this person still sucks ass today only u can help him :P
@xXxElecTr1xXx Because you have an affinity for seeking out the biggest boss on a planet powered by one of the most unstable cores in the galaxy and shooting it with plasma till it dies of spontaneous combustion :P
I just realized a vast majority of games have some sort of an annoying beeping noise implemented... beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep.
i remember the first time i was playing this... i actually said "WHAT THE FUCK!!" in front of my mom.! i was 9 lol so i tried the screw attack attack across. epic fail xD now im 15. complete beast.! lol but in every metroid game, something blows up, or you gotta do something in an amount of time.
"Thank you for pressing the Self-Destruct Button. This planet will self-destruct in exactly 7 minutes."
SAMUS: "7 minutes? No problem. I can just take the Plot Device Portal at the Sky Temple Entrance and be out of here in no time. Just as long as their aren't any intrusive last-minute boss fights."
DARK SAMUS: "Did somebody say 'intrusive last-minute boss fights!?'"
@D3mO44 Sorry, I should have clarified, there is no escape theme or timer which counts down to the self-destruction of the planet that you are currently on (Which is a Metroid staple)
@D3mO44 Yes, in Prime 1 the Chozo Temple and Impact Crater blew up, in Prime 2 Dark Aether, in a sense, "blew up" and in Prime 3 Phaaze blew up. Good observation.
@D3mO44 The original Metroid was the first video game I ever beat, back in 1980-something. When that countdown started, me being about 8 or 9, I thought it was the most exciting segment in a game I had ever seen. Not to mention the 8-bit version of this video's track. :D
I've been a die hard fan of the series ever since.
Unstable Phazon energy form. Target can generate shield immune to all forms of attack except Phazon energy. Draw in expelled Phazon for use as a weapon.
Dark Samus has temporarily become a being of pure yet unstable Phazon energy. She can generate a shield that is invulnerable to all attacks, save one -- blasts of Phazon energy itself. Use your Charge Beam to collect Phazon energy that she expels, then fire it back at her. Direct hits will overload and disrupt her essence

@Phazonaddict Why would she destroy AETHER??? I mean, she loved the Luminoth, cos, like the Chozo, they were the only extraterrestrials which were nice to her. Plus its a beautiful planet. And she got loads of cash for saving the Luminoth, so why would she destroy Aether???
Huh, didn't know there was an "escape" sequence in the original Metroid. I shouldn't be surprised, since most Metroid games have one. I've never gotten very far at all in that game though, the fact that I know Zero Mission backwards, inside-out, and sideways just hinders me. I'll have to just sit down and play it one of these days.
Samus: (After killing Empy) Right, he's dead, I'm collectin' the energy.
(Does so)
Samus: Right, mission accomplished. (Evacuation alert) Awww, shit. I'm outta here!!!
(Teleports to Sky Temple)
Samus: If I can just make it to the portal... (Phazon blocks it)
Dark Samus: You defeated me thrice, now I'll fight you exactly the same way you defeated me the first time, using Phazon!!!!

this countdown really has a lot of pressure for 3 reasons:
1. you just got the final energy core and the fate of the entire planet depends on your escape
2. dark samus shows up to stop you.
3. you know that while this is happening every single ing is probably coming for you

@metalsonic641 Going by the logic of that 2012 crap, the world ended on Dec. 31 2009 because that is when the calender on my fridge ended.
