You people sound like serious jerks, no offense. I don't like the stuff they picked out, myself, but they are giving a very smart and OBVIOUS list of basics. Most people have all that stuff. You seriously don't have a pair of jeans, black pants, a white button down shirt and a few t shirts? Huh? I personally think a pea coat and a trench coat are excellent investments. They will never go out of style. Quit fixating on the velvet pants and stop trying to be funny.
Hey, guys, we are creating a fashion blog, where we post outfits of the day, style/ beauty tips and tricks. If you are interested in creating new look with things that you already have, make sure to check it out: jandjfashion.blogspot.com We would really appreciate your support. Take care, Jenn and Jess
Trench coat like that is so 80s, and here where i live, only old men and poor people wear stuff like that.. younger people usually wear wool coats.. like that pea coat, black or red mostly.
@Ladylyla Well in most big cities young people wear trench coats, and they are very expensive. Burberry makes the most popular ones for those who can afford such stuff, but you can get cheaper ones that are nice. It depends on where you live. If you live somewhere rural, people probably won't wear them.
@lollipopfop No i don't live in anywhere rural, i live in the second largest city and the city with the biggest university of my country, there are a lot of young people living here and nobody wears trench coats. Maybe it's because it's pretty cold most of the winter to wear it,but nobody wears them with warmer weather either.. in autumn and spring young people wear wool coats or leather jackets.
0:55 Who needs a long tench coat: well if you have saddlebags you do! And those turtleneck shirt and double breasted jackets are going to make a larger girl with bigger boobs look ridiculous. This video presumes that one style fits all and everyone can pull off black.
This info seems more suited towards the age 35+ crowd. My life style doesnt require quite a few of these items. I do think that in general everyone should have some form of these items, but those arent the basics.
Thank you for these videos! I am over 50 and kind of floundering as far as what is appropriate for my age (You're not young, but you're not old). You have given me some help in what to have for wardrobe essentials to build upon.
@beesgrammie I never wear white and black is a hard color to wear if your over 50. I wear brown and black, my accent pieces are cream and red. Teal is a good color for everyone and "goes" with a lot of other colors.. I don't own any black tops. Too heavy a color for the skin. I'm white with yellow tones. I wear cream never white. Instead of black wear charcoal gray. My business wardrobe is based in brown. I think brown in a business suit is great. Sadly, most advice says to stay away.
Thanks for the tips. I'm a soft autumn. I am very washout out looking even in my "Best" colors. I think that the browns look best on me but I really dislike brown in general. I will give the charcoal grey and cream a try. Oh and teal, I love how lively it is for summer.
Not everyone must anything from it is our decision to have what in our closet ... Especially those summer country where they have any winter...I wanna describe you two " old-fashion"
First. Not everybody can wear white, It has to work with your skin tone. For the rest: Pff. I need to make my own basic vid, because I don't need all those essentials. According to the nice lady's that'll mean that I'm not a woman...
i'm missing a white blouse (i'm gonna buy that in black -_-) "white makes you look younger" LOL then why are you wearing black? you're like 30-40, you WANT to look younger (I'm 17, just the right age. don't wanna look like 13, LOL :D). Straigh black pants make you look sooo old and boring! velvet jeans too. usually they make a 30-year-old look like 40 and 18 look like 11.. or maybe that's because i wore them when i was 11..
This is probably true for someone who works at a nice office or is in the older age range, but not for younger, stay at home mom's. I would not wear those things at home, and they aren't fun enough for a going-out outfit. Plus, if you don't live in a colder area, you don't need long sleeves or jackets most of the year.....:( Dissapointed!
basic wardrobe: jacket, cardigan, white shirt, t-shirt, tank/tunic, black dress pants, jeans, khakis, skirt, basic black dress. with these 10 pieces you can make about 45 different outfits...:D
rofl "for older ladies"...... said the child. the video title says basic wardrobe planning, seeme like you'd start with I dont know....the basics? blacks, whites, neutral khaki colors. sounds like basics to me.
@nitram01111 So true! You can't get through life on just jeans and t-shirts. One day the "older lady" bashers will know that. They just have to graduate high school first :). And I love those saying white doesn't work with their skin tone. I have yet to meet someone who didn't look good in white or at least ivory.
You should've added in the title at the end "for older ladies". Most of this stuff is pretty bad, specially that blouse..I know I, being in grade 10, would never wear this stuff. I do agree on the peacoat though.
