lmao,,,,, OH CHarlie.... lol.......... I think the coach is a little smarter than the fan...... Great game,,,,, great quote "you remember John Wall?" "That's how it got away"
Honestly, you have to consider that Basketball is Kentucky's game. Miami University deserves as much respect at Kentucky. As a whole, the athletic success at Miami gives Kentucky a run for their money. Our hockey team is #1 in the nation and all other sports continue to compete. Also the athletes at Miami tend to graduate.
Kentucky tends to graduate many athletes. And no your athletics are not even close. Kentucky is college baskett ball. And to play florida, lsu, alabama, south carolina, tennesee, auburn, and thank god vanderbilt week in and out in football it is tough to look good. Ill give you hockey, but who the hell cares. Ill bet harvard is good at chess, again who cares. But I will say charlie coles is the best. He is top five on my list of sports figures I would like to buy a beer.
Charlie coles is a great coach, and one hell of a person. He is also one of my favorite press conference coaches. He has done good things for that school. Is it UK, no, UK is college baskettball.
I really wish people would actually start calling it Miami University or people would start putting FL next to University of Miami, like they do to us. We have just as many number 1 teams as they do but we get no respect.

"Coach, your team was up by 18 points - obviously you had a good game plan. What happened to your gameplan that you couldn't hold such an impressive lead?"
Ladies and gentlemen, that is a legitimate question. "Kentucky is too good" is not an answer - you beat them by 18 points for part of the game! So reach into your limited "coach" vocabulary and explain your team's collapse.
That was a legitimate question. When you're up by 18 and end up losing, the game DID get away from you. He did finally answer the question though, by saying "Cousins became Cousins" and Wall is supposed to be "the greatest". Still pretty funny though.
I mean, when you are playing a top 5 team, and you're miami ohio, that is a valid answer. The top 5 team started to play.
A legit question would be, "how the hell did miami get 18 points up on UK." Not, "How he hell did you not get one of the biggest upsets and biggest wins in Miami OH history?
I mean, you don't ask the losing underdog how he let it get away. It was a great performance if he doesn't get beat by more than 30.

BMason3604,
Your response is as much a "non-response" as Coach Coles'
He took unnecessary offense to the question and then made zero effort to answer it. Had his team held on and won, he would have been more than happy to explain in great detail how his kids "reached deep down and found a way against all the odds."
I guess Coles just doesn't know how to respond intelligently to tough questions.
And apparently neither do most of YouTube's commenters.
Sorry, but Coach Cal told his team not to have the lead because he wanted to see if his new team would crumble under pressure or keep fighting. Obviously we kept fighting.
Is this a serious answer? You think Coach Calipari told his team to "let them get the lead on you". If you believe that, I've got some swamp land in Florida to sell you.
I highly doubt he said that. After the game he said he was glad they were down so he could see how they would react, but I really don't think he said "give them the lead." You can't "let" a guy go 6-6 from 3 in the first half.
he didn't say "give them the lead." He did say he wanted them to come back from at LEAST 8 points, to see how they react, if I said it in a different manner, that would be my bad.
His reaction was fine considering his team lost a close one and he has to sit there to hear stupid questions from silly reporters. No one was offended or should be so everyone should just move along.
Great response to an idiotic question. Congratulations to Miami (OH) for the greatest performance in their history. They took the greatest program in NCAA Hoops to the very limit.
It helps to know how to spell "buffoon", but the reporter who asked such a stupid question was a buffoon, for sure. I liked his response. Reminds me of when Bear Bryant at a press conference once asked a reporter "Why are you asking me a stupid question like that?" Priceless.
Perfect response...I watched that game and Miami was coached perfectly, but let's face it, it's UK, they should have won by 30 Miami played them down to the wire.
Love this. Coles is my new hero. "Ask John why it was so close..." They will be....give the halfwits in lexington some time and they will be. LEGEND stuff there Coach Coles

Best coach pound for pound in the game. Somehow Miami is always good ... if he wanted to leave (which he doesn't) and ever coached for a BCS school, he would have at least 10 final fours on his resume.
look folks it is only a lagit ? if both teams have equal talent and i think all would agree that would be NO! very funny stuff that was right up there with John Cali and John Chaney post game fight in terms of being funny
The more obvious question: How did Kentucky let Miami, a team that lost to the mighty Towson Tigers by ELEVEN, even sniff a chance at winning IN RUPP??
i agree. i mean they did have an 18 point lead at one point. most people would consider that a blown lead, no matter how early in the game it was. and as a coach, there has to be a part of him that is asking himself the same question the reporter is asking, no matter how much better the other team was (which is basically what he is saying in response to the question)
It is way past time for Miami to win one of these, bottom line. Yes, coach, how DID you let it get away? Did the RedHawks walk out on the court? Did you intend to win? Did you have an 18-point lead? To all, yes. The idea is to win, always. You did not. Big Blue be damned.
Charlie is a great character and an even better basketball coach. I've seen Miami play very often and I would say hes one of the best in the country in getting everything out of his team. How can you get a PlayStation 3 for 9 bucks?
By using an incentive program!
1) Watch the video on my profile and click the link in the description to get started.
2) Complete ONE offer. These are reliable legit sites like Netflix, or gamefly which cost around $5-$10 to complete.
3) Refer other people to do the same, and then your Ps3 will ship for free.
I've done 3 incentive programs through this site, all for around $9.00 each. All it took was a little patience and effort.
