The subway of Los Angeles is far better than what we have in Stockholm. Shame that the network isn't larger (I'm talking about the subway now and not the light rail). They should run the purple line all the way to Beverly Hills and Santa Monica if you ask me.
i really wish thay would have made the doorways a little taller its annoying, having to duck down. man there was thease 2 times when i bashed my head aganst the door,
and there was a big lump on my head. ><..embarassing
@dabuzebruvaz Cool, huh? It's pretty minimal, though. The first part went in in the late 90's. It's nothing like New York or London or even "San Diego, but it's a start. You can get from the South Bay to the valley on it and a little into the west side. There's also a couple of light rail lines that go to East Los "Angeles and Pasadena from Union Station in Downtown L.A.
The last time I took the subway it must have been one of the original cars from 1994. There was definitely a lived-in look to the thing, with anonymous discolorations here and there, and scratched in graffiti in the windows, although small. Actually I was glad to see it, because it showed that more people are using it--just like the other coast.
Anyhow, didn't Giuliani clean up the NYC system pretty well?
The free public transportation for thousands of illegal immigrants. I swear, MTA should add blockades like NY so people actually pay before entering the subway.
They've started adding the blockades. I saw one in Union Station and I heard there's more going in, and it's not jujst for illegal immigrants; it's for a whole cross-section of LEGAL people too, but yeah, they were losing money on people who weren't paying, so the days of no blockades is coming to a close. MTA was losing all kinds of money on people's "honesty".

im from la. why ride when you can drive! even if gas hits 7, its already pretty much 5 dollars... you can still drive! It's just better to drive!! It's faster to drive!
I was born in Los Angeles and I love our metro subway system. We just voted yes on measure R, a transit tax which will greatly improve and expand our subways, buses and light rail lines.
why is l.a. the traffic nightmare of america...is the subway system not extensive? these trains look a lot nicer than the ones we have in nyc!

@trollinda Oops...I mean the middle 90's. Time flies. LOL

@trollinda When adding all the heavy rail subway and light rail lines in Los Angeles there are more miles of rail than the trolley in Diego County.
