  • I just love this, Doc. Your salutes to Kirby, Cage, and Hanley had such perfect songs for each. I'll always be insanely crazy about Saunders/Morrow, but my eyes have been opened about Hogan/Kirby. Maybe RickJason was right and Hogan was the best actor?? It bugs me, the goldbrick/slacker image Kirby has when really, whenever someone's dragging another GI out under fire, it's Kirby doing it! He's loyal and brave. BTW, him sighting along the BAR at 2:48, nice shot! Hogan wears the role like skin.

  • old move, when im still 6 yo i watch this movie in tv every thursday night :D

  • Typical Hollywood!! Jack Hogan was a great actor and was ignored.

  • He looks a bit like Toby Stephens, doesn't he? I've only just discovered this show (after watching every single episode of The Virginian and LOVING it) and must say, I'm ready for the transition from westerns to WWII! The trash on today should be boycotted! I can feel brain cells committing suicide whenever I find myself channel surfing. Thanks to everyone for sharing their classic TV and films! We who have taste and scruples salute you!

  • Nothing like it when Saunders would say, "Kirby bring up the B.A.R."

  • @gwt55 That IS very cool, though I have to admit it's pretty funny when Saunders (or Hanley) orders, 'Shut up, Kirby!' I think I'm gonna make a T-shirt...

  • I remember watching this show with my father, who was a WWII vet. He would be shaking his head in disbelief at what he was seeing.

  • From a five year old's perspective, watching Combat! with my father, I only remembered the Lieutenant with the beautiful sad eyes, the grumpy "Sarge", and the funny guy that made my dad laugh. Not much. I finally got the series at the library thinking I would pick a few and then return them. Now I am hooked. I have fallen in love with the entire squad! They brought back sooo many forgotten memories. Especially Kirby. I either wanted to whack him with a rolled up newspaper or rub his belly!

  • i like the episode were the sarge put kirby in charge

i also like the episode 1 more for the road

  • i like the episode were the sarge put kirby in charge

  • yep rocksmelller thetoys we had has kids in 50/60s arfe probably worth a fortune today lol wish i still had them

  • Awesome tribute! I love Kirby.:D

  • vic morrow is wearing a marine helmet.

  • @mdcsun

Actually it is not a Marine helmet cover. The helmet cover he is wearing is custom fabricated from a Camo parachute scarf. I've seen some pictures of guys using them, they a different from Marine camo.

  • @BANZITOMMY he wore a helmet liner ok for parades but you need a steel pot on top for battles probably cause a steel pot is heavy it could make your neck hurt acting in it all day he had 2 sub machine guns one was fake and lighter

  • @mdcsun no its a camo cover

  • had to have a bar as a kid..when it was ok to play army

  • @pdogone1 I had a toy one two, battery-operated with bipod, in the 60s. also had an M-14 plus Thompsons and a Springfield

  • you made me cry. thanks alot

  • ya know, there were times when we made it back off a recon and watched COMBAT,and thought,"shit,if we wouda watched this before we went out,we probably wouda come back a bit better off" the sarge is the sarge and theres nothing like a fully automatic 30.06 covering your six...rock and roll...out

  • kirby and his BAR yes!

  • kirby is the best submachine gunner......only with browing automatic rifle(B.A.R)

  • outstanding!

  • Thank you for the video! Big fan of the TV series, and admire Kirby's acting skills! Video was awesome!

  • I always like Kirby when I was a kid watching combat. I notice he carries a machine gun while the rest carries rifles. The way he fires the gun is cool too.

  • Jack Hogan (and Vic Morrow) were two of the finest actors to come out of the early 60's and Combat was among TV's finest series. The overpaid "stars" of today should watch a few of these episodes and collectively hang their heads in shame. Even the so-called "non actors" such as Pierre Jalbert outshine most of the modern celebrities. These people, from the writers to the producers and actors cared about quality.

  • Kirby + BAR = Trouble. Shoot, he was trouble without the BAR!! lol. I loved Combat! Tuesday nights. Channel 7, Detroit. I bought the DVD series and highly recommend it. Get whatshername's book, too.

  • The prepetually troubled Kirby was always the most interesting member of the squad.

  • jaque mate rey dos, aqui torre blanca, cambio. man i still remember that prhase! amazing tv series.

  • Checkmate King Two dis is White Rook; over?

  • This is king two, over.

  • White Rook, this is Checkmate King two, Combat owns, how copy?

  • @pylgrym Thats their call signs if you watch the movie attack its fragile fox looks like combat was influenced by atttack

  • Why didn't Kirby ever AIM his BAR ? Just point and squirt.

  • I just love this video. Outstanding effort. Gotta love Kirby...........such a loveable rogue!

    Keep up the great work!

  • Reminds me of my Dad who was a WW2 vet - always my hero Pops!

  • the kirbster rules!!!

  • OH. MAH. GAWD. Best fanvid EVAH! And I mean that - the music is oddly fitting and effective, and your editing is beautifully done. Rarely have my lady parts been made so happy by a mere bunch of pixels. You have given the world 6+ minutes of solid Kirby, and that bit at the beginning....I LOVE that episode. Better than 95% of the war movies ever made.

  • did Kirby started making vaccuum cleaners after the war ?

  • Jack Hogan is still with us. Living somewhere in North Carolina. Hogan is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served on its alumni committee. He is also runs a well established business too....a locally owned and operated dairy farm located just outside Chapel Hill,North Carolina.

  • Excellent!!!! I think it was Rick Jason that said that the best actor in their cast is Jack Hogan, and that's saying a lot with a cast that includes Vic Morrow.

  • This is great! Kirby's the man! I belong to an online gaming clan that plays Battlefield 2. My online name is *DBH*Kirby in honor of Jack Hogan a.k.a. Kirby, William G.

  • can enebody tell me which is the episode when they were trap in the cave with the germans and work together to get out thanks

  • "More Than A Soldier" 26 Jan 1965, Vic Morrow, Tommy Sands, Ron Soble

  • KIRBY!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE THE POINT-LOL. YEAH loved the show. The BAR weighed about 20lbs with 6 fulls mags thats a load. Even the Thompson was a load with a few 30 round sticks.

  • Does it seem in the beginning clip that Hanley's voice is different?

  • Why do we want to listen to music backgraound. Why can't you all just post the videos the way they were originally intended.

  • it's a compilation, einstein. are you spamming all combat! videos like this? go away, pest. buy the dvd's or shut the eff up.

  • Kirby was the perfect "Private". Smart ass, wise cracking and a whiner. then as the show progressed they show him harden up, especially when he gets trusted with he BAR. he became such an asset to the squad

  • drags his feet every step. but does everything that needs to get done

  • hedujg26 ... Your comment is very offensive. As a former infantryman, I have had the honor and privilege to patrol with 'real men'. I can assure you that 'real men' DO use their slings. Patroling exhausts men physically and emotionally. Using their slings does not lessen them as men; it merely gives them an opportunity to relax their arms. After awhile at port arms the muscles begin to cramp. You shift your carry position, use your sling, ANYTHING to reduce the weight.

  • Hedu is right they never carried the B.A.R. like that and Dwyight thank you for your service but my great grandfather was a Marine and he told me that B.A.R. men never carried it like that

  • hey, leave Kirby alone!

  • er kirby*

  • kieby is my fav on the show

  • "MY FEET HURT!"

    <3 Kirbyyy

  • Okay, Saunders was cool with his tommy gun and camo helmet - but Kirby could cut things up with his jokes... and his BAR.

  • Loved this video, great choice of clips and music.

  • Thanks a lot, Doc. The Hill was my favourite episode. I live in England now and can't get the series. A real nostalgic trip. Kirby was great.

  • Perfection ^^ Thanks so much for making this :D Kirby forever.
