  • page, hog tied taken to ground on 4th down, no call.if the linemen doesnt take him down he sacks staubach, game over, vikes beat rams in minny,on to the super bowl, maybe they win one.maybe the ref who got beaned in the head was the guy who blew the call, krause late getting there should have picked off the pass, saw the vikies do this many times in same situation.the vikes D was great in the 70s not because of size and speed but because they played smart, just not smart enough on this play,oh well.

  • Fuck Dallas. Fuck Dallas fans.

  • @cochranexyz Well, there goes 1, no 2 of our championships...

    Wait, I forgot...

What you say don't mean shit.

  • this video would be good if you didn't record this with a toothpick

  • Lebron travled

  • I'm not a fan of either team. Here is the objective truth. It was offensive pass interference. Absolutely, positively, it was offensive pass interference.

  • @raelraven2

There is no way you can say that!. Where?? Where is the interference.......you NEVER see Pearsons' hands on Wright.

  • Cowboys and Romo still suck! How many decades since their last S.B.????

    Go Steelers!

  • @funshipM174 romo is better than the rapist

  • @Bobby92396 Romo will never win anything. Period. He is a loser like the rest of the Dallas franchise.

  • @funshipM174 oh yeah 5 super bowls and their losing? 14 teams havent won a super bowl and 4 teams havent even reached the super bowl. yeah the dallas franchise is definitely losing. and you say that they "still suck"? so your saying they sucked back then? well apparently they were better than the steelers. dont even look at this video if your not a cowboys fan then if your just gonna talk shit

  • @Bobby92396 Kepp living in the past. If I am correct the Cowgirls have one playoff win in the last 14 years. Prior to last year, it was 1996 their last win. Ironically if Jerry Jones wasn't best friends with Mike Lynn ( Vikings gm at time), the cowgirls wouldn't have had abiout 5 number one picks to build the team they had. Thank the Vikings and let me know when you ever see the playoffs again!!

  • of course its against the vikings.

  • And I have hated Dallas ever since

  • 10p we meet again...

  • Like a bowssss!!!!

  • Funny how you can see the same play two different ways, depending on which team you root for. Of course, Vikings fans will see it as an illegal play, and of course, Dallas fans will see it their way. But looking at it from a purely neutral point of view, Pearson did push off, and he got away with it and it happened over 30 years ago. So there's no sense in arguing about it today. If I were a Dallas fan, I'd take more pride in the games where your team did well and won without questions.

  • 1,2,3,4,5--talk to the hand cause dem boys got 5.

  • pushoff, cowboy fans deserve what they get 8-8 see you next year!!!for another 8-8and so on.

  • damn nothing like the cowbitches today

  • Dumb corner back fell down..he over ran the pass. Crybaby Viking fans can cry all they want. Go make a damn snowman and shutup.

  • @jbashara

    Can't make one in Miami.

  • @jbashara Shut up. This is the worst NON call in NFL history. I will take the Vikings anyday before the Cowpies win or lose. And they are not America's alleged team. Their cheerleaders suck too.

  • The pushoff, lol.

  • I watched this game live. Pearson pushed off the defenders back with both hands. It was obvious during replays during the game. This video shows nothing. Should have been an offensive foul.

  • This play and video is "WORTHLESS"! This is what really happened on that play. This play was so popularly used by the cowboys. The tactic to this play "hail Devil" is to slightly underthrow it. The ball hangs long in the air giving the cowboys reciever

a chance to slightly push off the cornerback or safety. Years later...1/1982 vs the 49ERS. The cowboys made the same play which made Ronnie Lott look as if he had interfered which he hadn't. This was an underthrown ball. the sallad pigboys

  • fucking cowboy cheaters

  • It was absolute blatent pass interference. One of the worst calls in NFL history.

  • @cageyvet11 Cagey IF Drew did push off, which I don't believe, you certainly can't see it from the two camera angles that were used that day. Believe me as a Cowboy fan we taken some bitter loses over the years. From the ICE bowl to Romo's FG bobble. I feel and know your pain. Very, very luck play for the 'Boys on that very cold day, but a legal one.

  • Damn

  • As a football official, I can honestly say that from that angle, there was no pass interference (offense or defense). Looked to me like two players going for the ball.

  • @ThatIMayServe You could be a referee!

  • On this day in 1975, I forever became a VIking fan and a Dallas Cowboy hater! Revenge will be sweet this weekend! Go Vikes!!!

  • Looks like the Vikes got some, but I think true justice would have been served had they beaten Dallas on controversial, last-minute touchdown.

  • ...the Pearson "push off".....

  • Hey asshole you should sell a sign that says "Push Off".

  • I died that day - worst no call in the history of football - sons a bitches!!!

  • Amen! Go Vikes!

  • best play ever

  • bearly32: that touchdown was NOT called back. It was a touchdown. The Cowboys won 17-14. They were trailing 14-10 at the time of the pass.

  • It's not a hail mary game winner with 24 seconds left. He should've took time. And it was called back, hence "infamous".

  • 1. The play was not called back

    2. It was known as the "Hail Mary" because it was the first time that term had ever been used in that vein. It came from the post game interview with Staubach. When asked about the lay he said, "I saw Drew and let go of the pass and said a Hail Mary." It was the original "Hail Mary" pass.

  • Offensive pass interference. It's not even close

  • I watched that game live as a kid who was a die hard Vikings fan. It was a bad call, and now as an adult I can live with it, but it bugs me that they always play it back on TV as some great play by Staubach. Staubach had many come from behind wins, focus on those, not one that the refs blew a call.

  • Fucking assholes, can''t believe they didn't call Pass Interference, worst no call in football history

  • Push off, without a doubt. Pearson admitted it to Chuck Foreman years later.

  • staubach!!! master!!

  • What you popsicles ought to have been asking yourselves all these years is: "Why in hell did we fart around in OUR WEATHER and let these bums stay in the game?" You deserved to lose, even before that play.....Deal with it. AND anyone giving a flying f@*# about today's pro football is a loser too. Gosh I'm glad I lived back then....what a waste of time today's game is.

  • Push-off. one of the worst no-calls in NFL history.

  • get real

  • get real? you do know that you can't push a cornerback to the ground don't you?

  • The video of the end zone camera clearly shows both players crossing each other and getting tangled.

Actually the worst no-call was the "immaculate deception" with Franco Harris. The ball's nose clearly counter rotates before it hits his hands. Ever notice how he waits for the ball to bounce up to him?

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, and I love how whenever they show the replay, right before you are going to see if it hits the ground or not, they always cut to the extreme close up of Franco. Why don't they leave it on the long shot? It would end all the debates.

  • Hicks

  • The greatest "no-call" in NFL history. Had the refs done their jobs, it would have been a 10 yard penalty against Dallas for offensive pass interference, and the Vikings go off to the Super Bowl. But, you gotta remember that when you play Dallas, not only do you need to beat their players......you also gotta beat the refs. Dallas has benefited from more no-calls and "phantom" holding calls than any team in the past 40 years.

  • BLAH BLAH BLAH Go cry in your beer bitch

  • How's the Dallas Bandwagon these days? Yeah, Dallas sucks with Wade and Romo huh? Hey, no big deal right? I mean maybe the Yankees will have a great season, right? Sure, when 1 Bandwagon team's season is done, it's time for another Bandwagon team, huh? I bet you miss cheering on Jordan and the Bulls, huh? Yup, those were the days when you rode the Bulls Bandwagon too, huh? Take care....always fun when a kiddie from the Bandwagon chirps. Hopefully Notre Dame football will back someday, right?

  • BLAH BLAH BLAH

     lower your meds loser

  • Ride that Dallas Bandwagon.....ha ha ha ...."how 'bout them Cowboys!!!!!" Just think....it'll be another disappointing season...losing to the Giants....and Philly...and to the Redskins AGAIN. You're one of those pussies who calls in sick the day after a Dallas loss......aren't you?

  • BLAH BLAH BLAH

were you born stupid or did you work at it?

  • are u from philly washington or new york, better yet who is ur favorite team, let me guess the eagles huh fuckin philadelphian cocksucka

  • WTF?! Do you even watch Dallas games?! We are ALWAYS one of the most penalized teams in the league!! How the hell do we benefit off that shit?! Im not sure about back then but if you watch a Dallas game now you are almost always going to see a 5-7 for 70+yrds game. Its Cowboys vs. Refs

  • bullshit

  • Three holding penalties that aren't called and offensive pass interference...sigh...oh well.

  • yep some fan threw a bottle at the ref he had a bandage on his head

  • Cowbly hick fans.

  • I'm a Viking fan. The defense blew this game. Before this play, didn't Golden Richards make a first down on a 4th and 17 or something? Defenses win championships. The Vikes came up short. They deserved the loss. And the guy who threw the bottle should still be in jail.

  • I think it's funny how even to this day that Viking fans still use the "push off" excuse. There are 3 angles filmed on this catch. None have any "push off" from Drew. If anything this was defensive passing interference.

  • Yeah. And Viking fans hate me for being honest. The Cowboys won the game. In playoff games refs usually will allow more pushing on BOTH sides. And even then, I don't think it was offensive pass interference. The ball was underthrown, and Drew Pearson readjusted beter than Nate Wright. There is always some "pushing" when both are readjusting to the ball.

  • I never new there was a bottle thrown in that game though. LOL

  • i think its funny that vikes fans even care about the past, FYI, i too am a vikes fan

    :p

  • Problem is if its push off or not, the play should of never happened due to all the rigging of the plays and calls prior to this.

  • the point is pearson and staubauc are AWESOME! and that was a perfect pass and catch

  • RE:Eagle72

Point is well taken. No one can doubt Staubach and Pearson.

But what made that pass and catch work was in fact the imperfection of the throw.

The ball was underthrown and Pearson's adjustment allowed for the catch.

Then again, even if the means was not , the end result sure was perfect. A win is a win.

  • it could have been inrferince but they are not as technical than as they are today

  • Technical? They played ball without so many rules. During that age of football, the WR was afforded so many luxuries--it was still technically sound football.

  • Oops, EDIT: WASN'T

    not was.

  • its called 'Incidental contact'.

  • it was 30 years ago and viking fans still cryin about the fact that the nigga tripped and every body know dat drew pearzon made a clean catch

  • Yeah. I guess that Drew Pearson has no idea what he means when he says that he pushed off, right?

  • Sore loser?

  • Titty baby still crying? WAHHH WAHHH

    HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! CRY MORE!!!!!!

  • LMAO at crying viks fans!!!

  • clearly the nfl wanted a different team in the bowl that year to represent the nfc. the refs should have been wearing silver and blue stripes that day. I don't know why the crowd allowed the cowgirls to leave the stadium. I'd have penned them in like a herd of travis county steer.

as far as the vikes go...why the hell did he have 4 men on D line & 2 linebackers who didn't flank back for the long ball. how about double covering pearson. there's a concept. bad defensive strategy that play.

  • did you go to that game??? I did.......

  • hick team for hick fans

  • Reno! Got your note and I must admire your passion for this moment from 33 years ago, it wasn't you who threw that bottle, was it? (still the all-time Fan low-life moment).

I was 12 and so furious that I was walking off my pain in the hallway when my Mom came out screaming that Roger had 'Done it!' and we'd see it the way it was called even if it was wrong. Obviously, when the Cowboys beat other teams, that is 'good', regardless of the method. Remember, St. Peter is a Yankee and Cowboy fan!

  • man reno give it up that was years ago

quit bein but hurt cuz the better team won

  • I'm not a Cowboy or Viking fan. You don't like what I have to say, then don't listen. Just ignore my comments.

  • The really big play was a 4th and long where Pearson caught a pass on the sideline to give Dallas a 1st down. Without that, no Hail Mary.

  • Well said 6400 and shame on you Reno. There is no tape in existence that shows a push in the back, because there was no such push...you can watch it fifty times from all available angles and not see that happen. You have been viewing this for 33 years through your biases, Reno.

  • You can watch this video 500 times and you won't see a push to the back. Reason being, this angle doesn't show it, genius. There's no video of O.J. killing anyone. So he must not have done so. :-)

  • Anyone that watched that game saw replays of the reciever, Pearson, pushing the defender in the back bigtime. Offensive pass interference. No call. Other vids here on You-Tube show the blatant foul.

  • I was as loyal a Vikings fan as there was back then, and saw this game as well as the four Superbowl losses.

Although I wish there would have been interference, there is NO conclusive evidence that Pearson pushed off.You can look at ALL tapes available and NEVER once does it show Pearsons'hands actually on Wright's back. Pearson made the adjustment on the underthrown ball and Wright continued going and fell as he was trying to stop.

The only culprit here was the horrible Vikings coverage.

  • No sir. No way. I will find you a tape of a blatant push square in the back. I remember this play specifically and during the game they showed the replays. Be patient.

  • Roger Staubach is the reason I am a Dallas Cowboys fan today.

  • roger was my first hero. Romo is less than Danny White at least White won in the playoffs

  • you gotta remember chuck howley, bob lilly, bob hayes...they were 3 of the oldies but goodies in cowboy history. i'm a diehard fan but romo is overated,i'm sorry to have to say that.

  • we beat the giants last week sack eli manning 8 times and they play carolina tonight and the panthers will beat the hell out the giants at home and dallas would make the playoffs if falcons loose against min and the bucs loose against san diego so any thing can happen in the nfl look at the giants last year GO COWBOYS GIANTS IS OVER RATED

  • drew pearson was amazing he should have made the hall of fame

  • i remember that pass to drew pearson.

  • nobody likes drew pearson its all about emmit smith and tony romo

  • too bad they havent played together and Staubach was fifty times better than romo...he falls apart too easily

  • Drew Pearson is my all-time favorite Cowboy.

  • The Hail Mary and the Immaculate Reception are truly the NFL's 2 Zapruder films.

  • I watch NFL films all the time the cowboys rock Staubach is the best QB ever.

  • Pearson clearly pushes Nate Wright to the ground. The ref reached for the flag, but came up with a wad of bills instead. When three quarters of the team is selling drugs, you can afford a referee or two.

  • Please Watch My Video And Respond With Your Favorite Active Player In The NFL!

    watch?v=L7XTZ8cdALI

  • You see this pass...

    is a legend.

    This quarterback...

    is a legend.

    This coach...

    is a legend.

    This team...

IS THE COWBOYS! NOT JUST A LEGEND BUT...

    A CHAMPION TEAM

  • How bout them cowboys

  • they are the best!!

    are you a fan?

  • through the thick and thin

  • giants and eagles and redskins should be pre=pared, if they show no improvement tomorrow though, imma be concerned.

  • no blrox00 hes definitely not a fan

  • love how you recorded on someone elses youtube video

  • the reciever has every right to the ball, this was not a push off simpley poor defense

  • Usually I hate the prevent defense, but there are some times when you need to run a prevent and open up the umbrella at the same time. For example, if it's late in the 4th quarter, and you're up by more than 2 touchdowns, force them to nickel and dime you. Also to defend against a game winning Hail Mary.

  • Being a Rams fan growing up, I hated two teams..the Vikings and the Cowboys. Every damn year, one of these teams would knock my beloved Rams out of the playoffs! I hated Dallas with Laundry's stinking fedora and I hated Tarkinton (or Kapp)and their sinking "Purple People Eater" defense. In the 1969 season the Rams were 11-3 arguably the best team in football...but they lost to the Vikings in the NFC title game. In Minnesota, why Minnesota? The Rams had a better record!

  • The game was played in Minnesota due to the Vikings record in 1969 was 12-2. They played the Rams and barely beat them behind Minnesota QB, Joe Kapp. The final score was 23-20. However, keep in mind that the Vikings did beat the Rams in the 1969 regular season in LA, 20-13. The Vikings probably were the better of the two teams that year. I would agree with you about some of the Rams/Vikings playoff games in the 70's. In 1974, the Vikings won 14-10 on a blocked field goal returned for a TD

  • It was in the 1976 NFC Championship game where the blocked field goal and consequent long return occured.

No blocked field goals in the 74 title game.

  • Homefield advantage was not awarded to the team with the best record in the confrence until the 1975 season. Case in point: Miami in 1972 had to play a ROAD game to get to Super Bowl VII. Miami's record: 14-0. Pittsburgh: 11-3. The site of the confrence championship game was rotated on a yearly basis until 1975. Then they awarded homefield advantage which has served the Vikings well in the 3 times they've gotten it. ('75 Hail Mary, '77 SB XI, and '98 Gary Anderson).

  • The Vikings ALSO lost at Metropolitan Stadium in the first round of the playoffs. To the 49ners in 1970 and then to the Cowboys on Dec. 25. 1971.

  • What was the rotation? Ty

  • Another example of homefield advantage being non-existant was in 1966 and 1967. In 66' the Cowboys finished the regular season 10-3-1. The Packers were 12-2. Where was the title game held? The site of the Eastern Confrence champs: Dallas.

In '67, the Rams were 11-2-1 and had to go ON THE ROAD to play GB who was 9-4-1. The site of the '67 Title Game (The Ice Bowl) would've still been GB. Dal and Cle were 9-5 each and would've had to come to Lambeau.

  • Awsome quality. You can nearly see the ball

  • Was this recorded on an old school camcorder?

  • i dont think they had camcorders back them homie

  • The grabbing of the defensive tackle is tough to see, but it probably did occur. The thing is, though, that's what offensive tackles are told to do; protect the QB at all costs.

If you really want to show a great playoff catch — one where the receiver doesn't push off — let's see Clarance Davis and the "Sea of Hands."

  • He didnt push off, Nate Washington mistimed the ball

  • YESSSS!!!!!

  • Nate Wright overpursues Staubach underthrows purposely & D. Pearson goes for the ball. TD. Suck it, 'Sota!

  • The problem with saying Pearson didn't push off is that there's film of Nate Wright flying in one direction with Pearson's hand headed the same way. The sequence takes place a second before the ball arrives.

  • how did he push off when hes looking at the ball with his hands in the air jack ass dennydog10. i can explain the t.d in two simple werds.DALLAS COWBOY. are fucking great superbowl 43 comein at ya better bring ur a game ''gmen''

  • it's not even a debate, the Viking DB fell over himself. D. Pearson has never admitted to anything other then not knowing where the ball was until he got well into the end zone.

  • That's not true. DP admitted to interference in a later interview.

  • Seems the only people that recall Drew admitting to a push off are Vikings fans on Vikings websites. He's never admitted to that. Your safety should admit to being faked out of his pants by Roger's lame fake to the left side of the field. Took your safety out of position and he couldn't help your DB when your DB couldn't maintain his coverage. Drew admits to losing the ball, that's it.

  • WHEN? i have the interview where he says "NATE FELL DOWN and Roger underthrew me"

  • HE PUSHED OFF!!!!

  • some d line player from the vikings got diagnosed with cancer a week ago im not even writing this to be funny i swear to god.

  • Hey the Vikings were at home with their weather and they didn't take care of business....they deserved to lose if that was all they could muster. And if you had won you would have lost to the Rams the next week anyway....they always had your number. I think we can all agree that football back then was a whole lot better than now.

  • I was a 14y/o diehard Viking fan and was crushed by this plan. I also remember Tarkenton screaming at the officials during the final plays.

Only problem w/the people who deny Pearson pushed off is that now in the last yr or 2 he finally came clean and admitted to doing it. Also forgotten was the play or 2 just before the Hail Mary on 4th and 17 (or so) the Cowboy receiver caught the ball out of bounds but was ruled in.

  • mmmm...pass around that bottle of sour grapes.

  • I agree that D.P. deserves to be in the H.O.F. Staubach had a talented receiving corp at that time, and deserves more than Jackie Smith with him in the H.O.F. after what happened in SB 13.

  • the only reason that hes not in the hall of fame is because he was involved with hollywood henderson in sum drug usage

  • the only reason that hes not in the hall of fame is because he was involved with hollywood henderson in sum drug usage

  • I don't think so. I'm convinced it's because of Drew Pearson Marketing, Inc and DP's involvement in the XFL. You might want to read his book, "Hail Mary".

  • Pearson is not in the hall of fame for many reasons, mainly because he's not deserving. He wasn't even the best receiver on his team for most of his career (Tony Hill, that's who). After 1977, Pearson never led his team in receptions. It was Hil who did and earned three Pro Bowl invites in the process.

  • I got to give you that one Rutgers. It's a sad day in my world. lol.

  • For the guy who posted this video, this was the 1975 NFC Divisional Playoffs. Not the championship game.

  • This was the NFC Championship game, the winner played the AFC in the SuperBowl. I know, I was there...in the endzone, about 50ft from the person who threw the whiskey bottle at the ref :-)

  • No.... it was the Divisional Round. The Cowboys then played the Rams in the NFC title game the next week and beat them, 37-7.

  • wow...you're right. My bad. I always had it in my head it was for the SuperBowl, which increased my disgust with it's ending. Thanks for clearing it up after all these years!

  • No problem.

  • Damn secondeye, maybe you need a third eye. You must be blind! Cowboys win! Just like always, COWBOYS WIN!!

  • not yesterday they didn't. Moral of the story is...don't mess with New Joisey boys, hahahahahahahahaha.

  • This guy is obviously just trying to be funny, or is a troll.. his versions are horrible quality and angles that don't show the obvious pushoff.. they do however show the tackle made on a free running DE that would have been a call at any time in any game.. you just don't blatantly tackle a guy running free that would otherwise hit the QB square just as the pass was being released.

  • You are a troll. Cowboys win! If you don't believe me, watch it again. Or you could continue to complain.

  • Are you looking at the same video as the rest of us???? #81 is the left defensive end and he attempts a swim technique and gets caught up in the middle. #83 is the left DE and he tries to go outside and gets pushed further outside. No Defensive Ends got tackled.

  • It's interesting how THIS version/angle is of such horrible quality. Pearson didn't HAVE TO push off, as it turns out, as Wright was off-balance and could never have broken up the pass play. But, Pearson still pushed off a little. Late in the game, though...refs are famous for being hesitant to throw flags. Now, go ahead Cowboys fans. Call me names. I say he pushed off.

  • you are correct. in general, refs are hesitant to call such penalties late in games. also, our beloved Purple coach Grant did say once himself "never let the ref beat you".

  • Drew Pearson did not push off. Ref watched him and called nothing. Stop trying to find an stupid excuse. lol Cowboys > Vikings. Choke vikings, choke. Guess they learned a lesson from this game, to play wide/deep coverage in last minute scenarios.

  • yah I guess you showed us who's boss. but never despair....Romo was never built in a day. It hurts losing playoff games at home to inferior teams doesn't it, hhahaahahahah.

  • Pearson pushed off, ive seen it a million times on tv! Die Dallas die.....

  • Oh, but not this year :)

    Dallas 37, Green Bay 27

    11-1

  • Cant argue with that, by the way, I didnt mean anything with the Die Dallas Die stuff... just messin around. They looked like they can now give the Pats a run for thier money!

  • Perfectly legal. You could push off at that time. So I've hear that excuse a million times!

  • Pearson may or may not have pushed off on Nate Wright, but if Safety Paul Krause, number 22, gets over there to fight for the ball, Pearson probably doesn't make the catch. Look at Krause beginning at :08: who the hell was he covering - the referee? By the time he gets there, Pearson has the ball.
