i love seeing other planes in the air from the plane i'm in. i was landing at chicago once and us and another plane had been coming in parallel with each other for about 10 minutes or so and both landed at the same time. that was pretty cool. wish i would have had my camera out for that.
chicken is an awesome game to play at fl410 haha but with family on board not really. favorite brand would be boeing with the trip 777's and 744's but also a big fan of the airbus a330's and a346's
I know this is a well...unprofessional question, which no pilot would ever consider!!!! But you know ....when ur on a long flight, bored and u see another plane on a paralell heading travelling slightly faster than your plane.....do u ever wonder, well maybe I could go faster than him/her? Screw ATC!! Not that would ever enter a pilots mind ever I suppose LOL, love the video, excellent perspective
"The sink drain actually 'vents' out of a heated drain mast (to prevent it from freezing). If they left the plunger open, it would create a lot of noise, and use a tiny amount extra bleed air to pressurize the airplane, which I imagine would cause a small decrease in fuel economy." - Quote taken from an article by the author of this video. - Google "Plane Answers: Takeoff speeds, weights and lavatory drains"
one of my very favorite videos, set to the magnificent Mozart's Andante dal concerto kv 467
My only complaint is that it's too short. I hope you'll consider doing a longer version to the same melody. The combination is magical. Thank you so much!
@fly4fun, what a beautiful and amazing video like so many of you films:)
May I ask if you have ever flown up or down over The Shetland and Faroe Islands?. We(Shetland) are at 60 degrees and I have often wondered if it is possible to see the Faroe Islands to the north west(62d) when passing over Shetland if the visibility allows?. Or indeed how long it takes to go between Shetland to Faroe.
Apologies for all the questions - I'm just intruiged and fascinated by it all!.

That's just water being drained from a lav sink. There's a heated drain mast that lets the water go overboard, since it doesn't make much sense to store the added weight of used water.
Not to be confused with the toilet water that's of kept in a tank of course.
Being a pilot must be fantastic, flying trough the clouds looks so awesome. Each time I am going somewhere with a plane, I hope there is bad weather, because I love to cross the clouds.

Thanks for these, Kent. By the way... what is (specific or typical) company policy - if any - about this sort of thing... (a) videoing and (2) posting to YouTube?
That sounds like a reasonable policy for your kind of operation. Obviously, for some people, their minima will be way lower than that. As long as it's carefully thought out, it needn't be an issue.

I would try thinking this. (Thousands of airliners fly each day without problems, and if your afraid of something mechanically going wrong, the pilots are experts at surveying the aircraft before take off, and monitoring at all times. On another note, no fatal accident with an airliner has happend in a very long time. I might add think of take off as fun, cause it is kind of a rush :D) hope that helps.

Hey man nice video, could you please tell me what a holding pattern is ? thanks
TheEnglishWay1 2 years ago
To "hold" is to track or trace a "racetrack" pattern co-located with a "fix" such as a VOR, NDB, intersection, or waypoint.
Simply put, holding is an airborne circling procedure equivalent to pulling off to the side of the road.
We do this for ATC aircraft "sequencing", aka... getting in line, waiting-out weather, traffic congestion, or emergencies.
Since we can't stop the airplane mid-flight for whatever reason... we enter a holding pattern. Many patterns are depicted on IFR enroute charts.
