Putting water on top of a battery can discharge a battery... why did you put water on the top of the battery? everybody can see the water drops running down the side of the battery. Next time try not to fake everybody out.. ok
batteries outgas and basically consume the acid and water mix.. to keep a battery in good shape you have to replace the lost fluid with water "deionized water if available"
Otherwise your battery will loose its power in a short amount of time
Awsome info. Although some batteries can go bad I do agree that when someone brings in a dead battery that just means it needs heavy charging nonstop for 1 or 2 weeks.
Using a trickle charger (John mentions this as the monitoring type) extends battery life on MG's. Otherwise, low frequency of use for sportcars like these means less charging cycles and therefor shortening of life span to 3 years or even less.
thanks for the video. I had a car in storage and the battery leaked and caked onto some parts under it, are there any dangers to breaking off the chunks of corrosion before I put the new battery in?
I have a 73 mgb I bought twin 6 volts for about 5 or 6 years ago, filled them and charged them back then but only recently am at the point where it makes sense to install them. What are the chances they still work? What are the differences with what you said about the 12v batteries and the 6v ones?

Ho Ho Ho to the background staff... LOL.
Back in the day we would also coat the clamps with grease to seal them from oxidizing... do you concur?

If caught in the desert can one pee into the battery?

@inachu No way! One's whiz is jam packed with sodium ions, so it's definitely not "de-ionized."

Quite informative and straigthforward...
