  • I just can't get enough of it!

  • i have fear..

    Beautiful song and sound

  • I heard of these guys through a robin pecknold interview...pretty sweet.

  • Because of the song i bought Leviathan today :)

  • Indeed, they do sound a bit like America, especially this song .... but then . different, and very stylish ! Nice one!

  • this is for my buddy mat r.i.p man i miss you dude

    ]

  • <3 to the max

  • Quality!!!

  • just a great song. very evocative...

kinda makes me well up a little :-/

& yes, @Endemondia Fleetwood Mac - I can hear it too!

  • just a great song. very evocative...

kinda makes me well up a little :-/

  • sounds fleetwood maccy

  • If this is the 'final version' I think I liked an earlier one a bit better... it's the one I became familiar with.

  • A link from a 16 Horsepower video led me here, and I'm so glad it did. What a great sound...I can hear a hint of early Fleetwood mac too along with America and Crosby Stills & Nash

  • If you like band of horses/ midlake/ fleet foxes then you might like British band called FOSSIL COLLECTIVE. They have a great vid on youtube called ON & ON - check it out xx

  • I reckon they're more like the band "America". Still, random chance I found them - never heard of them in Aus, and this is sooo good - love the fuzz solo too.

  • What a great band! Greets from Brazil!

  • i saw these guys a few weeks ago and they were fantastic

  • I just saw them live in Carrboro NC. They were awesome, Rogue Wave followed them up but Midlake outclassed them. I even left early while Rogue Wave was still playing.

  • Awesome tune! Sounds like the perfect blend of Fleetwood Mac and CSN. The guitar work sounds Neil Young inspired! Great stuff.

  • this is an amazing song - kind of reminds me of 'the fossil collective' - on and on

  • Can't get enough of this song - or this entire album for that matter!

  • 5 people here missing their heart..

  • Very very melodic, beautyfull, back to the 70 'enties, a little moody blues, fleetwood Mac, etc. - MIDTLAKE - my new love - Kim - can´t wait to see them live in Denmark the 17. th of november :-)

  • What a nice song this is...

  • this sounds almost as Fleetwood Mac y as (the wonderful) Bat For Lashes' Daniel...

  • Okay. We've established that Midlake is awesome. But why?

Because the sheer tone, lyrics, every technical aspect of its melody, is filled to the brim with raw energy and emotion. This band really takes me places.

  • @pneumodium it takes me to the bathroom to throw up

  • Grazie ...sai cosa mi piace in assolito di Loro... :-)

  • Awesome!

  • midlake is smthg from another dimension

  • hmmmm. Some Fleetwood but I hear the harmonies of America. Cool group.

Denton? I met Emerald City back in 2002 @ Lewisville fireworks show.

and I bet these guys have heard big Jim Thomas doing his 70's shows.

North Texas has come up with some good stuff over the years. Keep up the good work guys.

  • Love this one...not sure about the others. But love this!

  • bravi, belli e seri

  • amazinnnnnnnng

  • brilliant band/song

Their stuff reminds me of "War of the Worlds", perfect harmonies, melodies, piano, bass n drum sound etc.

  • How do these guys do this....such perfect songs....awesome.

  • If you appreciate Sad Pop piano Ballad and Super 8 movie, I invite you to watch my video, Have a nice day !!

  • Found things guys while watching fleet foxes. Very nice stuff.....

  • wonderfull tune....!!! harmonicly delicious.!!

  • beautiful song

  • Un son avance au-dessus ; une houle peut-être La marée enfin Les embruns toujours. Frais

  • This song is just great....I saw these guys live with a few friends who where new to them and they blew us completely away. The sound for being live was so full it deserved much respect.

  • Vocal line reminds me of Radiohead on some of Hail to the Thief

  • Good call. :) One of my favorite albums.

  • Beautiful .

  • Its very Fleetwood mac but thats not a bad thing

  • this song sounds a little like fleetwood mac. but still is a great song

  • fleetwood macs a good band...

  • incredibly delicious.....!!!....

  • Simply AWESOME !!!

  • You eat catshit sand which (which is not clever at all, btw)

lacks substance, you unoriginal douche bag.

  • awesome band! solo on this is absolutely fucking pimp! why isnt it in the video??

  • Don't say the word pimp. It's not cool, or acceptable. It means a person who 'owns' whores, and they are despicable. It is NOT an adjective. It's like calling someone nigger than saying you were being friendly. It's stupid.

  • Yeah don't say that ratboy555 you prick!

  • sounds like ambrosia and fogelberg

  • One of the best songs ever!

  • To me this song is a wonderful mix of Dire Straits, Rufus Wainwright and Fleetwood Mac, mesmerizing harmonies. Van Occupanther is the best album I've heard in a long time

  • good call.

  • Each Midlake song makes me think - now this is my favourite.....no, this is my favourite. Right now this is my favourite.

I love the bewildered innocent who speaks here

  • i love this song!

  • Fantastic voice, lyrics and harmonies. Listened to this song a thousand times and find something new in it every time.

  • These guys are just amazing... the only criticism is this song is way too short!!! I think the album version is a little longer.. but even still.. it really starts to get on at the end then it fades out.. it does leave me wanting more though!!!

  • Beautiful..

  • LOVE MIDLAKE! this song is just one amazing guitar solo away from a fleetwood mac song! the sound is awesome!

  • I'm obsessed with this song! I love it!!!

  • Great song...very classic sounding. Reminds me of Fleetwood Mac.

  • Utterly beautiful. Beyond gorgeous. Thank you.

  • Great song! Thanks Dawn

  • unbelievable. ive listened to van occupanther hundreds if not thousands of times. i know every word to every song without it even playing. and it just gets better each time i listen to it. i dont think i will ever hear music as good as midlake for as long as i live. and im fine with that :)

  • nice edit!!

  • This band should be the biggest band in the world. They remind me so much of Fleetwood Mac. I first heard them on MTV (I know!) and i've loved them forever...

  • listening to these guys right now! Trials of Van Occupanther is brilliant! If you don't have it, get it!

  • yeah these guys just don't seem to be breaking here in the UK. Shame.

With the rest of you, took me right back to America in the 70's. And I wasn't even born till 1981!!!!!

Great music. This n Roscoe are awesome. Gonna buy the Album.

  • a rare act.

check out justin rutledge if you like this.

  • epic

  • Super, rien à dire, tout comme Roscoe, un travail d'orfèvre, des mélodies sinueuses qui ne lassent pas. Chapeau bas.

  • to me, this is the best song of one of the best albums in the 00's. simply brilliant.

  • my favourite album of the year.

  • I am thinking 1970s California - how amazing! Love this song.

  • Reminds me of ELO, great song.

  • That's exactly what I said upon hearing this LP (and it took me far too long to hear it). And sounding like ELO is no bad thing. At all.

Midlake are the band I wanted The Arcade Fire to be upon hearing them being described. I do like the Arcade Fire, but these lot, in some respects, show them how it is done, in my opinion.

  • I'm from Spain and I discovered Midlake last summer. It was love at first sight. I can't stop listening to this song and to Roscoe. It's sad that they are not very popular, at least here in Spain.

  • I heard Zane Lowe play this when the album first came out, absolute quality, it is a very good album throughout in my opinion, the Fleetwood Mac comparisoms are a bit obvious but i can see where people are coming from though, i guess it can only be a compliment.

  • I love this song...

  • one of the best bands ever...the vocal harmonies and strange lyrics r just sublime

  • The Trials Of Van Occupanther es un gran disco y mis favoritas son Roscoe, In this Camp y esta.

  • I'm a 56 year old 'old git; and my younger brother, no spring chicken himself, introduced me to this album. It has to be the best album I have heard in decades. Well done you young yankie whipper snappers :)

  • lol dude!

  • Ha! Hence the quo love eh?

Too right though, this band are restoring my faith in music. I hit 30 and became jaded a little. Being 'light on hair' doesn't help nowadays either.

As said above by me, ELO harmonies and a 'The Band' type inspiriation.

    No Quo though. ;-)

  • I'm glad you like Midlake. They are a great band. I'm 31 and feel like i'm getting old. But its nice to have 'real' music about, Even if its not on the radio. But the point i'm trying to make is that i have a beautiful head of hair that i cherish and brush to perfection every morning, sometimes again in the afternoon if its a windy day. Having hair is like having a beautiful wife...When you have a beautiful wife it's great. When you don't you make do with whatevers left behind.

  • Oh why couldnt they make a better video!

Roscoe was so simple and beautiful...

    Now this shit studio clip!!

music is still great, although previouse tunes better

  • Holds the same greatness as Fleetwood Mac!

  • I love this song.. I lis´ten to it again and again and again and again... my mum asked me, if all my other cd´s are broken....:-) thanks midlake, thank you for posting it, thanks to everybody ho loves the fascinating harmonies and emotions of this song! xxx

  • ~like the borderline ART ROCK of the 70's, a lucid sound, and lyrics with great depth ~

  • I love midlake..

  • Thank you! Downloaded the album on itunes and will be at the chapel hill show. Fantastic music!

  • third comment sweet

  • ApSci are big midlake fans. Thanks for a great album.

  • Amazing.

I had no idea this was still being worked on.
