While most of your description is reasonable, I have to differ with your perception of the ending of the video. I think it means the collective unconscious, a theory propounded by Carl Jung.
Also, corporate interest needn't necessarily be evil. Since it is inherently devoid of religious links, it is deemed evil, since human psyche is by nature religious (Carl Jung again)
The eyes creating a green lotus could be a reference to the prejudice of perception, meaning, you see only what you are looking for. They sow seeds of prejudice in your hearts, creating a lotus. The color green is usually associated with envy. The eyes fusing on his forehead could mean the unity of all his beliefs with that of the collective unconscious', thereby achieving enlightenment.

I agree. Corporate interests can be every bit spiritual as individuals claiming to have moral superiority. Countless corporations have been known to spend millions on helping others without advertising or expecting a return. This can have far greater impact than the deeds of some of the most "enlightened" individuals. Corporations should still accountable for greedy behavior.
Alex Grey (The artist who designed this wonderful artwork) said his "Nature of Mind" represented the Chakras. Notice the throat at 1:09 glowing blue. I think when the ego settles down one can experience something like a connection with the divine creative source, infinite light, energy, God, Science (cells moving in the brain), call it what you want everyone experiences this while sleeping or have had similar experiences not quite this dramatic.
Frankly speaking, I fail to see the difference between corporate interests and the ones who claim to have achieved enlightenment. They are both working toward what they want respectively-- money and a solid truth that does not exist, or takes more than a lifetime to find, respectively. Calling businessmen greedy would be equivalent to calling a priest selfish.

the three men at the beginning do not represent the spewing of evil into reality, instead it is a metaphor for god, or what we perceive is god, and the spewing from the body creates the circular, or perfect, reality.

It's amazing because I always wondered about this ending, I understand it now because I am a huge fan of physics. I dunno, but I do know that the third eye does not see the physical world, according to what everyone says, I've dabbled with it, but with not many results, so I don't think your third eye would let you see the strings.. But who knows huh?
I think the third eye goes beyond just seeing things outside of the physical world. I think the third eye would be the gateway to seeing multiple dimensions, perhaps even different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. So in a sense seeing strings would be very possible (if you could open your third eye), because our ''reality'' is bound by 3-dimensions (4 if you include time), strings on the other hand are subject to 10 dimensions.
I suppose, but remember that the string theory is still only a theory, and different dimensions are also theories, I like to take them seriously alot to, but let's make sure ir doesn't become a fact for us.

this is a pretty standard form of meditation (hindu practise btw) in which the mind has to concentrate on light which he takes in through his forehead (through the third eye). He then has to focus this energy/light around all the parts of his body, opening up the lotus in his heart, and finally taking it back to the forehead, to clear the mind of all ignorance.

I interpreted the end as an expression of the state of our counciousness (eyes/minds eye) and how it connects with other bodies'. The councious state of ourselves is shown to be of non-matter; a seperate realm. Do you agree at all? Im interested to hear.
I see it similarly, that web of infinite consciousness shown at the end represents the interconnectedness of all beings in the universe, the life of the universe itself, we are all one being.
as i practise buddhism i see many buddhist symbols in parabola's ending: firstly the tummo going up the spine, opening all the chakras, then a crossed vajra, the third eye, all the other eyes in my opinion symbolize an ultimate knowledge achieved after enlightenment, the body disappearing or transforming reminds me the doctrine of emptiness, and the light in the end is like the Clear Light, which is the subtlest form of mind or the ultimate goal(in Vajrayana buddhism tradition), so :)

i love how right when they get into the enlightenment phase, the climax of the video and song in my view, the whole mood of the song changes dramatically to fit the video. I think when the ego settles down one can experience something like a connection with the divine creative source, infinite light, energy, God, Science (cells moving in the brain), call it what you want everyone experiences this while sleeping or have had similar experiences not quite this dramatic.

Frankly speaking, I fail to see the difference between corporate interests and the ones who claim to have achieved enlightenment. They are both working toward what they want respectively-- money and a solid truth that does not exist, or takes more than a lifetime to find, respectively. Calling businessmen greedy would be equivalent to calling a priest selfish.

the three men at the beginning do not represent the spewing of evil into reality, instead it is a metaphor for god, or what we perceive is god, and the spewing from the body creates the circular, or perfect, reality.
The little man does represent the ego as well as our frail external being, the larger man is our "Self" or soul, that lives on after our body has died and achieves full psychic individuation no longer constrained to the external world.

Amazing. I wonder how many Tool fans know that the ending shows vibrating strings which are from String Theory. It's amazing because I always wondered about this ending, I understand it now because I am a huge fan of physics. He opens his 3rd eye, which enables him to see everything around him, the extra dimensions, the vibrating strings. I know Adam was thinking this, read his interview in Guitar mag. he is a big fan of String Theory. I just put the 2 together. Awesomeness all over!!!

I dunno, but I do know that the third eye does not see the physical world, according to what everyone says, I've dabbled with it, but with not many results, so I don't think your third eye would let you see the strings.. But who knows huh?

I think the third eye goes beyond just seeing things outside of the physical world. I think the third eye would be the gateway to seeing multiple dimensions, perhaps even different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. So in a sense seeing strings would be very possible (if you could open your third eye), because our ''reality'' is bound by 3-dimensions (4 if you include time), strings on the other hand are subject to 10 dimensions.

That's a fairly obvious statement to make. I am well aware that string theory could easily turn out false. My point was simply that, Adam Jones is a big fan of the theory, and if you have seen animations of what hypothetically 'strings' look like [see Brian Greene], you would see the correlation between them and the ending of parabola. Read the article on him and Kirk Hammet in guitar magazine. Lateralus is all about pondering the unknown. So lets relax a little and enjoy the music. Take care.

He doesn't refer to the physical damage, or the wall as being an illusion, only the pain itself, yes you can feel it, but the body is only a shell, a shell holding you and me, and the singers soul, the soul isn't harmed, and it does not feel pain, only the body, and since the body is mortal, and it isn't really you, the pain is only an illusion.

Mankind and facing life in general, the virus of life that is happiness,sorrow,regret,pain, pleasure, life and death, and to come to an understanding, an acceptance of reality, and he does, he comes to terms, and with the acceptance of the inevitability of all things, he can achieve a state of "oneness" and he is enlightened. Just my viewpoint, but a bunch of "2 cents" equals a dollar eventually I guess. the more opinions the closer we are to a general acceptance of meaning, regarding the video.

this is a pretty standard form of meditation (hindu practise btw) in which the mind has to concentrate on light which he takes in through his forehead (through the third eye). He then has to focus this energy/light around all the parts of his body, opening up the lotus in his heart, and finally taking it back to the forehead, to clear the mind of all ignorance.

I see alot of Gnostic Pagan/Christian symbolic meaning in the climax of all this.
Realisation that matter is imagination of conscientiouness. Knowledge of this leads to enlightenment.
As if he awakened by this but also realisises that everything around him his imagination percieving itself too - symbolised by the eye(s).
I thought many of those symbols were Gnostic/Free Mason based. But it was interesting seeing that other people identified some symbols as Buddhist.

This is as far from anything Christian as humanly possible. The video is about meditation, mental evolution and spiritual enlightenment. Which is why the character is transformed into a living chakra map awakening his mind's eye. Such practices are condemned and considered witchcraft by christianity.

Your completely ignoring the mystical (gnostic) tradition in christianity. Granted, it's not main stream christianity, but it's a part of the churches history. Use your google-fu on gnosticism to get a quick overview, and maybe read 'The Third Christ" by Deepak Chopra for a litle more insight.

as i practise buddhism i see many buddhist symbols in parabola's ending: firstly the tummo going up the spine, opening all the chakras, then a crossed vajra, the third eye, all the other eyes in my opinion symbolize an ultimate knowledge achieved after enlightenment, the body disappearing or transforming reminds me the doctrine of emptiness, and the light in the end is like the Clear Light, which is the subtlest form of mind or the ultimate goal(in Vajrayana buddhism tradition), so :)

This looks like it could be the end of parabola, and the beginning of the music video vicarious, like the skeleton in vicarious is who this man transforms into, because think about it, this guy has the eyes in his palms like in vicarios and the two eyes in this video floating up to his forehead could evolve into the snake creatures in the vicarious music video. but thats just my theory. :D

i love how right when they get into the enlightenment phase, the climax of the video and song in my view, the whole mood of the song changes dramatically to fit the video. I tried listening to this song alone without the video and the effect was lost, I rarely pick up on the symbolism of their video's but the way they sync is amazing. people take this shit waaaay to seriously. tool isn't about eternal souls, satanism, or any of that metaphysical bull crap. the lyrics are just an examination of beliefs of human beings and what happens to interest the writer at the time. each album is just a conceptual piece of said interest expressed poetically, or at least that's what i get out of it. personally, i find it hilarious (and a little sad) when fans want to use the presented mythology as a basis for their fantastical beliefs.

To me... The ending is a about the awesome "third eye" or "spirit molecule" or pineal gland which rests in the center of your brain. Look "Pineal Gland" or "DMT" up on google.
The pineal gland is what creates dreams when you sleep, and "flash backs" moments before you die. The video is about someone dying and having this very exact experience. This is why the video and many of Tool's/Alex Grey's art are so fascinated by eyes. Its all about spirituality. This is what makes them so good!!!
