  • Neighbors shoot Neighbors what kind of bull, just for trash? Oh Brady Campaign the lengths you go through!

  • Castle Law has problems. There was no crime being committed. The man who shot my son was hiding in a closet when my son walked in the doorway and shot him. Yes, he knew my son was angry( with good reason) he knew Roland was no threat to his life; he knew he would claim "self-defense". This expanded Castle Law gave the young man a way to end what he felt he simply did not want to deal with in any decent way.

  • The "law" gave my son's murderer the chance to get away with premeditated murder. My son was there about a valid dispute, he was not a burglar etc. As far as being victimized twice, not only is my son DEAD, leaving his 12 yr old daughter without her beloved Papa, but with the so-called law, her mother would not even be able to file a civil suit. The killer had inquired about this law a week or 2 before he shot my son and knew he could kill with no problem.

  • @hollisterpatricia - No law condones murder let alone 'premeditated' or 'cold-blooded' murder. When you say that your daughter in law couldn't file a lawsuit for wrongful death, I couldn't imagine an instance where surviving family wouldn't be able to sue- except for one possibility; and that'd be a court having determined the deceased's death was the consequence of having been engaged in the commission of a crime. You seem to have left out some important details; but I say Castle is a good law.

  • When human life is only a matter of seconds, the police are only minutes away… Love the Castle Law…

  • Pretty much any home intruder is not there to bring you flowers and sing you a song. And this Brady Campaign guy using the examples of neighbors shooting each other over placement of garbage cans is GARBAGE. That's not the issue because such actions are already illegal. Typical Leftists, all they can do is spread lies and misrepresent the issues.

  • Paul Helmke (Brady Campaign) just doesn't get it. People defending themselves in their own home shouldn't be subjected to "prosecutors and juries." If people cannot freely defend themselves in this environment, they truly cannot freely defend themselves ANYWHERE. This type of constraint forces people to cautiously hesitate to do more than just beg for mercy when attacked. While that might be fine for wimpy Paul Helmke, others clearly want more freedom to act in their own defense.

  • Paul you are retarded you dont deserve a mouth to speak. A criminal breaks into your house he is already destroying your property and has accepted the fact that he could be hurt durring the home invasion. Shoot him before he takes your propery or hurts your family.

  • "I belive we can rely on the prosecutors and jury to make the right decisions?" hmm.. ok well then have them come sit in my house while i sleep to prosecute.. is that guy serious?

  • I'm glad I live in florida, it really is a comfort to know you have the right to defend yourself.

I suppose in california you are required to greet the intruder and then bend over and grab your ankles so they can fuck you while robbing your house.

  • Love this new law, we shud b able to protect our property against anyone, someone wants to try to mess with us, waste em

  • talk about absurd rhetoric on Paul's part. 'Spraying the street with AK47 fire' Pffft what a load of garbage.

  • I don't think legislating is necessarily the best solution, its very politically charged and inevitably any law in place will be subject to both political point scoring, from both sides I'm sure, and the effects of lobbying. Possibly a better solution would be to allow Judges and prosecutors discretion over prosecutions.

  • hell yah if some one come in my house there ass is dead!

  • support hb40 pa

  • Must retreat from intruders? Typical Liberal thinking.

  • ok first off, by saying "ak47 spraying bullets in the street" that man shows his ignorance. since 1934 FULLY AUTOMATIC FIREARMS HAVE BEEN ILLEGAL. YET HE'S A REPRESENTATIVE OF A POWERFUL LOBBYING GROUP??? WHAT THE FUCK.

  • i definitely support this law my county has adopted something very similar to this and i am very happy. i will be purchasing a 12 gauge as soon as i reach the legal age.

  • In my own personal opinon, i would not use something high powered like a 30-06 or .50 cal to stop a home owner unless i had military training or such. i would definitely use a sawn off 12 gauge or something with spread shot if there close its enough power to knock them back from at least 10 yards away and will definitely provide near fatal shots 1-15 yards away. Also i would use things like buck shot for less fatal shots that would more likely incap a intruder but give you the ability to kill.

  • Maybe Paul did not read the memo you are the only one responsible for your own saftey google warren Vs. D.C. the police are not responsiblle if they do not respond or come in time. I support H.R. 17 you should to.

  • Don't confuse the Brady Bunch with the facts - their heads will explode! :-P

Hey, wait a minute, on second thought that's a great idea!! And it's cheaper than hollowpoints!

  • I know huh tho by there own standards you try and tell them fact they usually just change the conversation or create false realities. Happy little bubbles that they live in. Hey I wonder if there main branch has security HMMM I'll have to google it.

  • Oh, I almost forgot to add, "Thank God for 'Castle', 'Stand Your Ground', Samuel Colt, John Browning, Gene Stoner, Gunowners of America, and your local Militia :-)

  • @Minuteman1969

    Amen.....

  • Paul Helmke is an outright liar. Prior to the adoption of castle law in Michigan, there was a clear "duty to retreat" enumerated in self-defense law. There was NO protection against civil litigation. How does this current self defense law "work", Mr Helmke? How far do I have to try to retreat before I can defend myself? 10 feet, 20 feet? What protects me from litigation if the home intruder sues me after I shoot him and he happens to survive?

  • I believe the "G. Gordon Liddy Doctrine" applies to criminals in your house: 'head shots'. Dead crooks don't sue. No compromise: lawful self-defense is an absolute Right.

  • The best self-defense technique is to aim for center body, not the head. In a high-adrenalin situation, it'd be very hard to aim for the head and not miss. Even with a head shot, they stand some chance of surviving and bankrupting you with a lawsuit.

  • Right, but my comment was strictly rhetorical, sorry I should have said so.

  • Doesn't always help, the criminal's family is almost guaranteed to sue you on their behalf. Why did you have to shoot their wonderful but misunderstood child you monster?!
