The dancers are excellent but I still prefer "Les uns et les autres" , a Claude Lelouch masterpiece where there is a superb blend of dance and musc. C'est vrai que le danseur étoile était au summum de son art. Inoubliable. Unforgettable.

the filming is a bit annoying here; with the many close-ups it's as if they thought what the corps was doing had nothing to do with the soloists. it's nice to see the dancers' expressions, but it was somewhat overdone. that aside, the performance was stunning :)

I am very happy to have the full version but it sure would be nice for playback if you'd repost this as a single vid instead of a 2 parter now that YT allows longer vids. Interrupting the dance or the music is kind of like it was in 10 where Bo kept going back to re-start Bolero because of interuptions. It needs to be experienced intact for the complete emotional effect. Same for the dance.

I think they're both great but they do have a very different way of dancing this masterpiece. Well, obviously their genders differ, but I think Elisabeth looks much more powerful while Octavio is dancing in a very... seductive way.

These differences make sense since this is a dance for men...but still, they both manage to be stunning in their own way.

En effet, chef d'oeuvre, tous les critères étant réunis : le génie musical de Ravel, celui chorégraphique de Béjart, la Beautée incarnée par Octavio, (qui a + que ses abdos, qui d'en pleindra?), et tous ces corps d'Hommes se mouvant dans l'Espace(qui rendaient fous les génies du quatrocento), & 1 seule Femme,(et quelle F.). Le tout nous élevant vers des sommets métaphisiques, où chacun y trouve ce qu'il peut, ou veut.

Je n'ai jamais eu la chance de le voir en vrai, et j'ai l'impression de louper plein de choses à cause d'une façon de filmer trop subjective, c'est tout. La caméra a un tel parti pris, on dirait que c'est fait pour ceux qui ont déjà assisté au spectacle...

@ferdibardaa Je suis d'accord avec toi ! C'est vrai que c'est assez frustrant et j'avoue ne pas avoir apprécié à la première lecture. Maintenant par contre, j'ai l'impression que la façon de filmer colle bien avec le thème. On voit un morceau de chair par-ci, un abdomen par-là, bref du "cru", on a l'impression d'être avec eux sur scène aussi. C'est du moins ainsi que je le voie. En revanche, c'est vrai que j'aurais aussi aimé une façon de filmer plus classique. Pas de chance pour nous !

The music and the choreography is one of the most nice things I ever seen. But the guy who filmed must be an idiot. Most of the time you are looking to silly close-ups and the effect of those magnificent choreography, the total image, is away.
